I've recently upgraded my machine to an Intel quad core CPU and have been running on a Asus Striker II Extreme motherboard (790i Ultra chipset). Due to the problems with this motherboard (freezing), I finally decided I'd had enough and got an Intel X48 chipset motherboard instead. Before I changed, I was regularly getting 60fps but now I'm consistently getting 6-7fps. I can see it right at the start when the game is loading; the intro screens don't fade in and out smoothly and when I get in game, it's practically unplayable.Looking at task manager whilst the game is running, I can see that the everquest2.exe is only using about 10% of one of the CPU cores. Before I changed it would max out one core completely. Can anyone suggest anything that might fix this? Thanks(Running Vista 64bit SP1, same as before the change)

Did you install the OS from scratch or just swap out the motherboard? If you simply swapped the board make sure you uninstall the Nvidia chipset drivers then reboot and install the latest Intel chipset drivers for your motherboard.

Thanks for your response but I've just figured out what the problem is.I have been using Creative Labs ALchemy to restore my EAX in Vista but for some reason it now causes the above problem. Removing ALchemy from EQ2 seems to fix the problem but obviously I'm back to bog-standard sound now. Oh well, at least I can play now...In answer to your question though, yes I have done a complete format and re-install. I've had too many bad experiences in the past of other people changing their motherboards and keeping the same installation of Windows.
