Ok, at the risk of starting a flame war... what do you guys think is a better choice for a player who is mostly going to solo?  The warlock with their AOE's of despair, or the wizard with their nukes of destruction?I played a mage back in 2004, when they were an archetype, but since I only got to level 17, I didn't have to make that decision yet.  I realize the game is totally different now (I have a shiny new level 32 necromancer), but would enjoy picking up a staff again. So, opinions?  Preferences?  Suggestions for staying alive solo?  Flames and ridicule?  Fire away!PS:  This is cross-posted to the Wizard forum too... since I want to hear from both sides of the fence. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

I soloed my warlock from 1 to 80 almost completely. I think I literally joined like 4 groups throughout the entire time he leveled. To me, leveling the warlock was quick, simple, and overly easy. This was especially true before I hit RoK content where the linked mobs seem to all together up and vanish. That certainly made things a little less efficient, and perhaps a little slower, but not any harder for sure.I will say though that it is a drag in the upper dungeons though that linked encounters are just not there. Again though, adapt and overcome the issue and the class to me is still enjoyable. Getting groups on the warlock is no more difficult than getting a group for the dirge or inquisitor, so I personally feel that warlocks are still considered a contributing class to a party.

the only benefit of being a wizard is that you have some higher DD spells, when soloing root nuking is pretty much what you'll be doing unless it is mass slaying greens (which the warlock does well) and the higher the DD spells you have the faster the root nuking goes. If you can deal with some ^^^'s taking forever then play a lock, both can do decent damage on heroics, we aren't the instant dps that most melee classes are. Raiding wise... wizards are better now imo, till warlocks get some love anyways.
