I'm not sure if I like this game to put even more money in it yet. I find Freeport so monotonous and boring, because of the layout and the speed of the area; Kill bears, get more parchment, kill bear cubs, more parchment, kills miners, etc. I was wondering if the expansion starting area's are more exciting by other people's opinions and whether or not I should buy them to improve quality of enemies.

Games don't really show the exciting bits until you've gotten up in level a bit. You're currently playing in the nursery, so it isn't going to be all that complex. As for places more interesting than Freeport, yes, there are lots. If you're finding the game boring already, though, I'd say save your money and play through your free month. Do some exploring. There's a lot of content in the base game, and you might get a better idea of whether or not this game is for you.

What expansion do you have currently? If you plan to stay, then yes, I would say buy RoK.... The starting area is QUITE nice as well as the Higher levels once you get there...

yea Freeport is a crap city. Gorowyn is much better (RoK expansion)The expansions add alot to the game and as you level more. the more things open. and you are able to do more things.but as saying kill bears. get parchment and the monotonous part.. well your playing an MMO, so alot quests will include killing monsters and getting items from them. id like to know a MMO that doesn't do that or similar principles. but the Timourus Deep starting area is faster and a tad more exciting.

Not gonna happen, but I really wish they would "re-envision" both Freeport and Qeynos. Merge the zones, make the cities seamless. Bring them in line with how the other cities function. The starter dungeons are neat, but the game has changed so much that there's a ton of dead space in these cities.

I will try to make it through the low level parts. I just came from WoW though and I have a tough time doing the MMORPG thing again, it's not like I don't want to do it again (otherwise I wouldn't have P2P) it's just that I gotta get back into the thinking mode that the high level content is worth it. I'm a PVE kind of guy, I don't like the one sided aspects of WoW PVP and I was dissapointed at the end results of my hard work, due to the fact that I fought the same enemies. I will give an example:One of the starting enemies:And at the final area:I'm not that stupid I know a boar when I see it .

*gulps* I hate to to tell you this, but some mobs you will see over and over again throughout your life in Norrath. Orcs are one that comes to mind...

I guess it depends on how exciting the fights become as the boars did the same thing and it wasn't just boars that got repeated the 58-62 zone was filled with similar enemies you fought in the starting area's. It was more disappointing due to the hype that the end content was receiving.

For some reason I thought they where. But it's not Orcs that you will see over and over again... its skeletons though there are different types... and I really have not seen an Orc or even a Gnol for that matter since EoF(outside of Greater Faydwar and Crushbone), Personally I think they did a very good job in RoK and even in EoF of adding new and different enemies, that said I think they are running out of earth based creatures they can create as the "Dumb animal" mob.

Bwaahhaahhahahaha!

The sad thing about those two boar pics is that the first one rarely drops boar meat needed for low level cooking recipes and the other ugly one rarely drops a tusk..... I mean really, you can plainly see that it has meat on it and I'm pretty sure I count about 4 tusks. Just like the murlocs that don't drop eyes when you want them.

Hehehe,

I totally agree with you. Whether it is WoW, or EQ2 or any other game based on Original EQ1, they are all the same.

In any such game you will find the starting monster graphics are reused over and over in other tiers. Yes, it is boring sometimes, but the interesting quests makes up for it.

I would have prefered if they didn't do it. However, the good thing is in every tier new sets of monsters will be introduced. For example:

T3: You will see giants, owl bears, centuars, patchwork men, etc.

T4: Night bloods, Lamia, Minotaurs, Evil eyes, etc.

T5: Lizard men, Statues, Manticores, Mammoths, etc.

T6: Crocodiles, Raptors, etc.
