<p>Hi,</p><p>I play EQ2 and recently got a friend to try it again during the living legacy period (she's using an old trial account of mine) and she's been experiencing all these crashes (when zoning) and black screens in some zones after zoning that a lot of other living legacy people have been. At first she couldn't zone at all, the first zone we experienced this in was The Haven, the exile city. She crashed and couldn't get back in. So of course she did what the error message said. She opened the patcher and repatched. She went into the advanced part of the patcher and made sure all adventure packs and everything was checked and did a complete file scan. And has it to download immediately. She is also running Windows XP. None of this helped, she still crashed. I also had her download the patcher from the <a href="http://www.everquest2.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.everquest2.com/</a> website for returning players and run that (thinking that perhaps play as the fae patcher has limited files it downloads). None of this helped.</p><p>I however could log in her toon and play her. I got her out to Nektulos Forest, she tried logging in, again she crashed. This time I decided to send her my eq2 Nektulos forest files. Well all the ones under 10mbs. So the list of files I sent her were: Nektulos_epic01_cauldroncove.vpk, Nektulos_epic01_cauldroncove_SG.vpk, Nektulos_mini01.vpk, Nektulos_mini01_SG.vpk, Nektulos_mini02.vpk, Nekutlos_mini02_SG.vpk, Nektulos_mini03.vpk, Nektulos_mini03_SG.vpk, Nektulos_mini_SndA.vpk, and Nektulos_SG.vpk. I sent her all of these files and she put them in her pak folder. She logged in and volia.... Could log into Nektulos. Now we tried the Commonlands, crashed... I sent her my commonlands files. She can log into the commonlands, but she gets a black screen, she can't move (her char seems stucks I can watch her try to run off, but she rubberbands back to the same spot). She can see her UI, all windows, but nothing of the game world, just blackness. We even had a scout try to Evac her and nothing. I logged her in and moved her to a different spot in the same zone, nothing. So, I did her betrayal. We skipped the commonlands.</p><p>Now the reason I'm telling you all this. We've constantly had her crash in every non trial zone she's tried. I''m talking about stormhold, antonica, the steppes, nettleville, south qeynos. Everywhere. But the second I send her the files for those zones, minus the large zonename.vpk file (its too big for me to send) she can log into those zones. Some however has this black screen we simply cant not seem to fix (in some of the zones). So far it seems to be expansion based zones, but not limited to it since Commonlands was one. The others have been Butcherblock Mountains and Sinking Sands. So as far as I can tell, people using the trial account and maybe even old accounts that are reactivated (but don't have all the expansions), are not getting all the files downloaded from the patcher. I don't think this could be a firewall problem either, as it seems to be hitting numerous people, even those who turn off their firewalls (or state they are in their threads). It seems to have something to do with perhaps having expansion temporarily enabled during this trial. I'm not sure.</p><p>I do hope this information helps you figure out the problem, because we'll be waiting eagerly for the fix, especially the black screen part. And if you have any questions for me or need me to clarify anything, just ask. I also hope this atleast helps speed up the process for other people that don't have friends to send them the files.
