Ok heres the deal, I can play perfectly fine, have been for well over a year now, and my best friend decided she wants to try it as well. We got the game, finally got her game downloaded 2 days ago, and she got all the way to the character select screen. But she wanted to wait for me so she logged out till this morning. When she tried to log back in she can get all the way to the screen where it does your downloads and has the big red play button. Problem is, when she hits that big red play button, the boxes dissapear and it goes back to showing her desktop screen, which it should, except that the game doesnt load after a couple of seconds, or minutes or even after a half an hour. It all just stays on her desktop, and the game just never loads or even tries to, every time she tries to log in its the same problem. At first we thought it was a firewall or such blocking it, so we found some folks ingame using the same firewalls, and we tried everything. Unblocking ports, resetting firewall details, rebooting PC, shutting down firewalls, nothing works, it does the exact same thing every time. No error messages or popups telling us why, it just won't load. Which is odd considering she already got logged in the first time she loaded game, she just cant get back now. Can anyone out there help us? If so we'd greatly appreciate it.

Is she running Vista by any chance? If so, then she needs to run it as admin....Other then the Router/firewall set up, I cant think of anything else without more info...

btw if it clarifies anything, after she hits the big red PLAY button, it pops up the box saying its launching game, but then never launchesanything whatsoever.

That really sounds like a firewall/router issue to me...

aye thats what we thought, but shouldnt shutting down the firewall eliminate the problem? also im asking around ingame a lot atm, and got a couple guys telling me it may be a directX or windows update problem, gonna try that as well.

Try loading Everquest2.exe directly instead of running through the patcher?

Actually, some firewalls still "protect" even when turned off.... It would be better to add the necessary files to the exception list..... You probably do not want to keep that firewall off either....<a href="http://soe-ing.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/soe_ing.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=12293&p_created=1099871058&p_sid=KZO3fK5j&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX 3Jvd19jbnQ9MjksMjkmcF9wcm9kcz0yMCZwX2NhdHM9MCZwX3B 2PTEuMjAmcF9jdj0mcF9zZWFyY2hfdHlwZT1hbnN3ZXJzLnNlY XJjaF9ubCZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90ZXh0PWZpcmV3YWx s&p_li=&p_topview=1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">[EQ2] <b><b><b>Firewall</b></b></b> and Proxy Information for EverQuest II</a>
