I'm hoping to collect some information from people using this graphics card. If you use one and would like to share your experience, please post your general computer specs and your performance with that card. I'm also interested in knowing whether you're seeing any visual bugs with this card such as artifacting.

Any information I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm pretty much the reason this thread was started. I am having a vid glitch with the GX2 that we (EQ2 Support and myself) have not figured out as yet.

1. New custom built computer. High End. (790i XFX Mobo, (1) XFX GX2, 4 Gb OCZ Razor X RAM, XFi Creative Labs, SATA 500 Gb HD, 850W Cooler Master PS SLI Ready, 45nm Q9300 2Ghz CPU) I have to use 175.16 NVidia Drivers for the GX2 (the EQ2 recommended 174.16 won't load for a GX2 - it's not in the 'driver list', the GX2 came out AFTER the supported 174.16. EVERYTHING, including VISTA 64 is STOCK, from the maker: AVADirect.com.

2. EQ2 will crash within a few minutes of selecting character and entering game (it varies, but never more than 5 minutes). It's actually crashed AT the character screen as well. The Crash is a 'spray' of polygons, centered on the character (like their textures 'exploded' all over the screen). You can take a step or two and then it will lock up, requiring a reboot.

3. All temps are within operating range.

4. Other 3D games work flawlessly (WOW, Medieval II, Bioshock, others).

5. I am looking to see if other GX2 equiped systems are able to run EQ2. If you have a GX2, please respond (with your model, GPU settings, Driver Installed ... if possible). If you have GX2 and am having the SAME problem, I'd like to know that as well.

6. It was suggested that perhaps it would work if I OC'd the GX2 (or the CPU). I tried a very modest 600Mhz GPU Core to 663 (no mem chg). It still locked.

7. EQ2 Support has been very good and helpful. At present (Tier 2), we are at a 'wait and see' state. Everything tried hasn't worked. Perhaps it's a DX10 issue. Perhaps it's Vista (64). Perhaps it's that I HAVE to use 175.16 (latest for 9xxxx) instead of the supported 174.16. Perhaps you're experience with a GX2 will provide an answer. Perhaps NO ONE with a GX2 is able to play EQ2? We need your input, ESPECIALLY if you have GX2. It could be it's the X-fi sound card? Nah.

Thank you;

Zenshadow

I should point out that it is NOT an SLI issue. In fact, with only 1 GPU it doesn't offer the SLI option in the nTune. It's not Quad SLI ... yet. Muahahahaha!

Akao;

This is excellent news! I'm not quite sure what it means (that you can run EQ2 and I can't - and you're on 2 GX2's!)

First, I am wondering how you got 174.16 to load. I always get an error popup (forget the particulars, but it's built into the install of the driver and dumps out of the install).

Do you think I need to do a Full Flush of my current 175.16 Driver via Safe-Mode/265 color?

You seem to say you are using 175.16 now. Which would mean it's NOT a driver issue at all.

That leads to a real suspicion that it's time to RMA this card. (although, to be honest, it COULD be the sound driver or some other bit of nastiness that 'looks like a vid crash'.

I guess my best option is to get the company that custom built this rig to take the card back as an RMA. I do have an old 7300 I could test with ahead of time (which would definitely solve the Vid Card or Not question. I think I will test that 'experiment' this afternoon.

Thanks for ANY and ALL help you've given Akao!

GOOD TO KNOW IT"S NOT EQ2!

Zenshadow
