On my brother's computer, whenever he tries to access zones outside of the starting areas he gets a strange error reading:"Error code: 4134 Failed to create zone. Suggestion: please do a full scan from the patcher" I have tried doing the full scan, but this doesn't fix anything. We also tried to reinstall the game, but with no success. The error occurs when he zones into "The Willow Wood" from "Queen's Colony" or into "A One Room Acorn" in Kelethin from Greater Faydark. He is using the client downloaded from the website, under "reinstall EQ2" from the "Get the game" section of www.everquest2.com.He can zone in to other areas, such as the crafting instance in "Queen's Colony" or the "Source of Evil" instance off of "Queen's Colony", but once he heads off to Qeynos, the error occurs. We do not own a physical copy of Rise of Kunark (the expansion he has for his account).

Running Vista or a software firewall? One of those may be blocking those zone files from updating. Give us a little bit more info about your computer and we'll see if we can track down the cause for you.

Turned off the software firewall and the problem still occurred. The crash occurs when it says "Creating Zone". Again, this does not happen in the starting zones. We tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game again, but it failed to fix the problem. Here's the full text of the error:EverQuest II has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown.<verify> E:liveeq2gameclientsrcGameScene.cpp (4134):Failed to create zone. Suggestion: Please do a full scan from the patcher.I've tried to update the graphics drivers, but for some reason they refuse to install, giving a message saying that they are not the correct drivers for the OS/Graphics Card combination. However, the download says that it should work for the current combination. Here's the first set of DxDiag data, hopefully it's enough data on the computer.------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 6/6/2008, 19:27:30 Machine name: PAVY Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: HP Pavilion 061 System Model: PJ516AA-ABA a700n BIOS: Rev. 3.11 Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3000+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.1GHz Memory: 1024MB RAM Page File: 466MB used, 1227MB available Windows Dir: C:WINDOWS DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 5.03.2600.2180 32bit Unicode------------DxDiag Notes------------ DirectX Files Tab: No problems found.
You may want to try some of the more standard fixes such as turning off background applications. We are currently investigating this error though and collecting all the information we can about who is experiencing it and what, if anything, fixes it. There's a sticky post at the top of the forum entitled 'DirectX render issues; that I would encourage you to post your information in.

For now, lets start with a cleanboot.

1. Select the START button.

2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)

3. Press OK

4. Select the STARTUP tab.

5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.

6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.

If you are still experiencing the same issue, please reply back.
