Hey guys, every time I start the game up, I can get to character select, but when it begins to load into the game, it freezes at some point during loading entity resources for 15 seconds, then crashes to desktop with no error message. Sometimes I get into game, but it freezes for 20 seconds or so after about 20 seconds in game and crashes to desktop with no error message. Any have an idea? posting dxdiag

I am suffering from the exact same issue. The most jacked part is that it comes and goes. Yesterday it did it for about 2 hours straight, I stoped, rebooted my system a couple times, took a break form the PC then when I came back later, no problems, played or about 6 hours logged in.

This morning, same thing, can't stay in game for more than 2-3 sentences in chat, then BAM, right back to character select. I can sit at CC forever it seems but occasionally get booted from there also.

Any ideas or info would be wonderfully accepted.

This is the exact same problem I've been having. I either crash at "loading zone resources", "loading entities", or 5 seconds after actually getting into the game. I finally took my comp to a local repair place thinking, for various reasons, that my hardrive was bad. The guy there took a it, started up EQ2 and it ran fine, no problems at all. When I got it back, it crashed just like always, so it must have something to do with the internet connection.

Draelyn

I am begining to wonder if there's a connection here. This is truly ticking me off though. I have spent the past 2 days trying every known work around, update, rollback, cache clear, rttrace, driver swap in the game and have come tot he only possible conclusion, it is account based and very sporadic.

I was able to get online today just long enough to play for an hour or so, but the minute I zoned into South Qyenos everything went to shite. OK, this pretty much confirms for me that it is an account issue. I tried for an hour straight logging into my main account with no success. Log into CS and then choose a character, load game, show up, then bam, disconnected back to charcter select. I created a trial account and was able to play for over an hour with my fiance with no disconnects.

If it is an account based issue, did they accuse you of spamming? I am still waiting for an answer as to why my account was flagged for me allegedly spamming. There is something goofy going on with their logs, as the accusations went from flat out I was spamming to I once sent MYSELF a plat power-leveling spam.Pathetica

Nope, I'm a returning player and I had a couple of characters on my account that you cannot make now. I had an Iksar Cleric, and something else. They were such low levels I deleted one, but went to log in the Iksar Cleric and it forced me to change his class. I chose warlock and its all been downhill from there. Deleted him a bit ago but my stability and ability to actually play the game is no more. I can create and delete characters all day long, but can't get in game.

Heavily edited: Turns out all I had to do was replace my driver with a older one....if your computer is rebooting or going back to the desktop I recommend checking this outDescription: Certain video cards with ATI processors have been known to cause video black-outs that also sometimes bring up a "VPU Recovery" error. The affected video cards are:

Radeon 9550 (RV350 / RV360 chip)

Radeon 9600 (RV350 / RV360 chip)

Radeon 9800 (R350 / R360 chip)

Radeon X300 (RV370 chip)

Radeon X550 (RV370 chip)

Radeon X600 (RV380 chip)

Radeon X1050 (RV370 chip)

Work-Around Steps: For the Radeon 9800 cards, any video driver newer than Catalyst 6.1 must be used. This means that the Catalyst 6.2 through Catalyst 7.4 (or newer) drivers can be used without problem. For the other Radeon cards listed above (excluding the Radeon 9800, Radeon X550, and Radeon X1050 cards), a very old driver must be used -- Catalyst 5.2. Unfortunately, ATI no longer provides a link to those drivers, so one must download them from an archival web site, such as Guru3d.com For the Radeon X550 and Radeon X1050, unfortunately there is no known fix available, as the earliest drivers that will allow those cards to even operate were made after Catalyst 5.2 was released. Development Status: Work-around steps provided, but the development and quality assurance teams are still investigating potential causes for some of these issues. Talk-back: Additional discussion regarding this issue may be found here. This 'zone loading crash' problem is NOT hardware related. Never. I just installed EQ2 on another PC (Totally different spec to my main pc) and checked. Exactly same crash. It's not router related cause I tested both cases (direct & through router). Neither an ISP related prob. I use two different ISP line and same problem happens on both. This seems EQ2 last client's bug. Inevitably. Many ppl are asking about this problem but no real answer from CS team? SOE dev team should fix this ASAP.

I tested both. this eq2.exe is from EQ2 cd package.)I'm returned to eq2 for Living Legacy. In a day or two, there was no crash (both old and new character). and suddenly newly created one experienced crash, then it spread out to all characters like some kinda disease. Now I cannot play any of my toons. I've got another pc, accounts and toons on another server. All the same.I suspect that it is some bug about regional problem but no evidence. Do north american players got same crashing? I'm in south korea. If this prob not fixed, there's no other way but to delete eq2. I sent Trevor a PM two weeks ago and have had no response whatsoever. Should I start spamming you guys? I canceled my account so that I'm no longer paying for a game I can't play but some part of me still lives in hope that there will be some resolution to this problem. It's perhaps worth noting that I tried using msconfig to do a clean reboot when the problem first arose and it did nothing. Some time later, after messing around with a lot of things, I tried the clean reboot again and could log straight in to all my characters and move between zones etc. Then the problem slowly returned in the same way that it slowly appeared. One character some of the time to a few characters a lot of the time to eventually blocking access to all characters at "loading UI resources". Strange indeed.PS In response to Leonorinth: I'm using a Netgear WGR614v2 wireless router and I live in Australia. That seems to eliminate the possibility of it being specific hardware or geographically based.

If you take the time and scan over the problems being posted you will see there is a plethora of variants to essentially the same bug. Some crash to desktop, some to character select. Some do it at loading Entity, some lag out at loading UI resources.

Almost everyone that's having the issue has no common denominator we can point to. I've counted 6 different ISPs, 12 different regions in North America, and at least 5 different router/modem configurations. Then of course there's nothing the same about everyone's PCs either.

I figured I would try something, as every single character I have had so far get stuck at Loading Ui resources and then bumped back to CS was on EVerfrost I created and played a character on Antonia Bayle. Now, I started playing this character @ 8pm est last night and played him, non-stop until 1am est. 5 hours and I zoned through every possible zone I could think. I went to North Freeport and started the Tempest chain of quests, went to Nektulous forest, to Lavastorm, to neriak, to Darklight, to commonlands and then on top of all that, I did the repeatable quest 5 times and got my cloak. That required that i zone from N Freeport to Stonestair Byway, into the Grave Yard 3 times per quest. That's over 30 zonings give or take to complete it five times. Guess what, no problems, I camped out normally last night and at 7am est this morning I logged on and played the same character non-stop until 9:45 am est when the servers came down for an update. ZERO issues doing the same quest and zoning between the 3 zones for another 5 times.

After downtime I logged back in around 11 am est. Played solid until 2:30 pm est when I logged out to do some chores. I finished the quest farming so I could buy the FULL suit of shadowed chainmail for the character and had ZERO issues. I left Freeport, went to the ruins, gated to neriak, did the Tradeskill tutorial until I was level 10 in tradeskills and then ported to nektulos, and then zoned to Butcherblock and Flew from there to Timorous deep. Once I landed I went afk for 5 minutes, came back and /camp dekstop to log out and do some things. Now I'm tryign to get back into the game on that character and GUESS WHAT!? He's no fuggin stuck at loading Ui resources.

So after 11 hours of playing and NO issues I camp him out in TD and now he's bugged. There is no way that my connection 'decided' after so many hours of the same character playing it flawlessly that "Meh, its a bad port or I don't wanna connect now."

So if its a connection issue on my end you are going to tell me that my ISP can randomly after 12 plus hours of perfect operation decide to cause problems for that characters port? You will forgive me if I sound a bit jaded but that's horse hockey. Not only that but it ONLY does it for me, not my Fiance on the same network? Ironically enough she's on the same network plays with NO issue and when we switch PC's I cannot log my characters in on her computer. She can play on mine with ZERO problems. We have identical systems to the letter minus ouor hard drives.

I've been having the same problem myself. I've been playing EQ2 on this computer for over a year a half, been a customer for over 3 years and no problems at all. Then all of a sudden the game just keeps crashing to desktop after I click play. It's been happening since July 8th and I haven't been able to play once since then. I contact tech support on here, talked to Trevor. He told me that the game cannot run on my video card which I do not understand. Like I said I've been running the game for a long time on this computer with no problems. I just find it strange that they say its MY computer that is the ISSUE when theres like over 100 other PEOPLE having the same problem. And you know what the tech support guy said (trevor) he just said best of luck to you and thats it. Never even answered my question. Thanks for the customer support.

Sexycorpse, I am not sure what changed on your system to get the errors. You are using an ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series, with drivers from 12/2007.

Here is a list of the supported cards

http://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bi...ZXF1aXJlbWVudHM*

Your card is not listed.

As for the 100s of people having the same issue. If they called or posted on a thread for that same issue, it would get the attention of people who can change the game. As there is not post with 100s (as you state) of unique accounts having the same issue, we cannot diagnose the issue. Please have your guildmates log into the forums to let us know of the issue.

I'm not here to argue with any of you. I work here to help customers get connected and in game. More then 90% of the trouble we here of is associated with bad drivers for video, sound and NIC, bad ports and network issues, and OS problems. Sure there are some issues that affect people that we are looking into, such as the DirectX render and gamma ramp issue.

Anywhoo, I wish you the best of luck in getting it fixed.

I agree with you Sexy. All please understand that those that are having this problem are most likely so frustrated that they would rather quit playing than "waste" thier time asking for help, especially if the game "worked just fine" one day and then "crapped out" the next. I have been watching for a solution to this problem hoping to get an answer because I have the same problem and like you Sexy I am using the same video card. If one person is having this problem then it is easy to believe that 100 people are having the same issue, so please treat 1 posted issue as 100.

Thanks and Happy Gaming

I too have had the same issue. In order to play, I had to change my resolution from 1600x1200 to 1280x1024. This is on an older system with a X850 XT-PE AGP card and a 2.x Athlon with 1 Gig of RAM. My pc is getting old and the hard drive has been with me for at least 5 years..so..will be upgrading at some point in the near future.

At any rate, maybe change to a smaller resolution to at least get in the game and adjust settings there. I think some sort of graphic quality "improvement" was pushed in the last update or so.

pj

I think quite a few people are having this problem also, they just post under different threads, start new threads, or are in a different area of the support forum.

I'm playing from South Korea with the same problem and have done everything to ensure it is not on my end, to include wiping a computer, de-installing vista and re-installing xp, and only loading eq on the machine with eq2's outdated recommended drivers. Still nothing, and nothing helpful from tech support on this issue.
