I just ventured out into kylong plains and man do things hit hard. I find myself barely being able to take down blues. Most of the time I am near death when they die or I had to use a timer spell just to save the fight. I must be doing something wrong. Does anyone have any strategy tips, armor tips, ANYTHING that will help. Here is a little background on what im working withGear:Full set of MC (xegonite)blade of the bixiestwo +12 str hex dollsall azurite (non-rare) jewelery with a few upgradesCrusader AA:Str 4-6-8-4-1Wis 4-4-8-8Sta 1Paladin AA:Hero 5-5-5Yes i know im low on AA's but i cant really change that quickly.Oh and all my spells are app IV with the exception of 2 or 3Thank you in advance

Having better spells will help tons, but that pretty much goes without saying.

As for gear, if you havent done much raiding and MC is what you have to work with then it will be a bit rough at first, but... when you hit 72 and get that MC gear you will notice a diff like night and day.

Unfortunatly you will just have to grin and bear it for a bit, or find a nice healer or dps to duo through the start.

Edited for spelling and prolly still spelt it wrong /shrug

I wonder if you wouldn't have more success with:

Ancient Velium longsword (or any other legendary+ sword) and any strong kite or tower shield.

HERO 55551, INT 448, STA448, STR448. If you had more points, I would send you WRATH line next to get the final item.

I found it easier to go 1-hander with shield and the HERO line than 2-hander. That build would give you alot of spell crit, alot of melee crit, and some haste, and the huge bonus that is the end HERO line item. Once you get to 72, the MC stuff gets alot better. Prepare your cash, you will get a major overhaul.

Another thing that may help you is to go back and do old quests to get more AAs, or even mentor some lowbies to do quests you missed with them. Paladins have a tons of nice AA setup, and having more AAs means less sacrifices to get the nice stuff. I know it is boring to do lower Tier content, but it may help you in your Kunark adventures. That said, Kunark quests do give plenty of AAs themselves too.

And yes, Kunark mobs do tend to hit proportionnally harder than KoS or EoF mobs. My Pally just turned 72, so I know your pain.

As has been said, go sword and board and fill the hero line to get the shield block chance and fight stuff in attack stance. (Be ready to drop to defence stance if things go south, there is no shame in hitting your "oh S**t" insta heal to keep you alive and then switching stance.)

Jewellery will be falling in your lap off of most of the quests you will do, just pick the ones that suits your playing style the best.

Get all your spells at adpt1 minimum (New ones it's not worth upgrading the old one now). You want to get them at adpt 3 if you could but adpt1 will get you through the first few levels, money is a bit easier to get in RoK so spending to upgrade your stances to adpt 3 is worth it. If your not already, start mining for rares to get loams to make into adpt 3's.

EoF should have provided a few better options for swords over the bix' blade, there are not a huge amount or weapon drops in RoK, due to the epics being implimented, so you may want to drop back to EoF to get a better sword from an instance if you can until you are able to hit the higher areas/intances in RoK.

Once you have money and a few levels you can build faction and pick up some nice weapons off of faction merch's in different areas, until you can get your epic or if you can, pick up the nartha short sword from CoA in Sebillis. (I have tanked the zone as a level 74 and got the sowrd then, but then I was in fabled gear from EoF and with a good group so I wouldn't expect everyone to do that. Having the sword sitting a taunting you and not being able to use it until 79 is harsh. )

Switching about your AA's for a sword and board style will yeild the biggest change to surviving, however in RoK divine resists seem high so expect a lot of resists and misses. Your AE taunt being Master 2 for the divine debuff is a very useful upgrade to get.
