****Please /bug this in game if you can as well please**** We are looking for possible issues with players getting the DirectX9RenderDevice.cpp error. Please post the following information if you are having this issue.OS:Service pack:Video card make and model:Video card driver version:Error:Did the fix below work? Thanks! As a side note, you can always try and resolve the issue by doing the following. First you will need to download your video cards newest driver. Just the driver not the software utilities such as catalyst or nforce software. ATI offers a seperate download of just the driver, where as Nvidia I believe has it as an option when installing. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvis...75.16_whql.html NVIDIA http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html ATI as well as the newest version of DirectX9.0c from Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...;DisplayLang=en and a driver cleaning program http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745 Once you have both files downloaded, you will need to reboot your PC in SAFEMODE. To Get to Safe mode you will need to restart your PC. As soon as it turns back on, start holding down the F8 Key. You should be offered a option screen then instead of it booting into Windows right away. You will want to select SAFE MODE with NETWORKING. Windows will now load, but it will look different from what you are used to. Install and use the Driver Cleaner program, this will totally remove any old drivers for your video card. After it is finished go ahead and install the DirectX. After this is installed, you will need to reboot the PC, and load it into SAFEMODE again. This time go ahead and install the Video card drivers. Once done, perform a clean boot to verify no other programs are starting. CLEAN BOOT Procedure 1. Select the START button. 2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu) 3. Press OK 4. Select the STARTUP tab. 5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list. 6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.

Which leads to my next question.... Why does mine say E:test.... when everyone else's says E:live.... ? I am not playing on any test server. I know that when I originally came back to EQ2, I downloaded the trial "Play the Fae" version. After which, I decided to extend my time to play and subscribed and activated an account. I also, digitally purchased all the add-ons, expansions, .....everything. But now when I play, several times a night I get instances where when I fight, it is like broken record. The combat graphics freezes, and the audio loops. after 4 secs or so... things return to normal. But, sometimes it doesn't and I get the crash error as described above.

It is not ALWAYS initiated by this "combat graphic freeze, audio loop", either. sometimes just running into a certain area, or upon initial mob aggro, it will crash as well.

I've played a whole lot of games, and this is the only game that I have every had this problem with my setup.

If you're experiencing this issue and using an Nforce motherboard, you may want to remove the 'Nvidia Network Access Manager' in the add/remove programs window of the control panel. From what I understand, that application is preventing the game from recognizing the correct version of DirectX on some machines.

Interesting thing I learned about my problem.

I reloaded Vista from factory settings (HP 6010n Vista 32bit, pre-SP1), EQ2 worked like a charm. Then I began loading software one-by-one.

I think I found the culprit for me. We have an internet filter called BSafe. After loading it, I got the same error

<alert> E:liveeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcdirectx9renderdevi ce.cpp(9817): sRestoreGammaRamp(): Gamma ramps are not saved

Even when I unloaded the filter, the error remains. This seems to be a conflict between BSafe file structure changes in Vista (works just fine in XP) and EQ2. I'm in dialogue with the BSafe folks, but it doesn't look promising...

Anything on your side, Sony?

Thanks,

Gregore

A couple days ago, I was having some ISP connection issues (very very rare for me). So, I downloaded the Comcast diagnostic program. My connection became stabilized, but when I tried loading EQ2, I got the "...DirectX9RenderDevice.cpp... (9820)" error. So I checked my video drivers, directX version just like the problem solving post suggested. No luck. Then I saw the Comcast diagnostic program running in the system tray (like it's suppose to) and right-clicked to exit the program. Started up EQ2 and it worked with no problems. I tested it a couple more times and the Comcast program was the issue. I don't know how or why it conflicts with directX rendering, but somehow it does. So, if you are using an ISP diagnostic program or the like, exit out of it, and see if that solves your problems.

From what I have been hearing from people testing this issue. The problem is linked to a utility program (not sure which one yet) that is corrupting drivers. The reason that the cleanboot is working for people is because the program stops running, and seems to stop the issue. I will be posting this in the Issue tracking thread as well. Yes this is VERY similar to the original procedure I mentioned at the beginning of the post. really the only change is to install drivers only and perform a clean boot when completed. Give it a try and let us know here on how it worked.

OS: Windows XPService pack: SP2Video card: BFG nvidia GeForce 8800GTX PCI Express 768MB GDDR3Video card driver version: 169.21 (December 2007)Error: <verify>E:testeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcDirectX9RenderDevi ce.cpp(4606): DirectX Error, (E_OUTOFMEMORY)Additional info:DirectX version: 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)Motherboard: ASUS P5N32-E-SLI w/nvidia 680 chipsetMemory: 4GB DDR2 800 OCZ RAM (with the /3GB switch enabled in boot.ini)I will try the fix posted and see if that eliminates this error. Couple of notes though; 1. the link you have for the nvidia drivers comes up with a blank page or "page can not be found", minor but still all the other links work . 2. From my OWN experience, using the newer/latest nvidia video drivers, 175.16 or 175.19, gives me a STOP ERROR / BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH (BSOD), with the nv4_disp.dll file as the culprit. I HIGHLY recommend people with the same card stick with the 169.21 version drivers. I have done the uninstall as discussed on this forum (via add/remove, reboot to safe mode, use driver cleaner etc) and any version above 169.21 keeps giving me the BSOD.BEFORE GU45, I had my texture settings at maximum for all 3 settings and complex shader distance over 200, and had no problem playing the game. Now I have to drop the texture settings to about "high", and lower the rendering distance, since just before the storm events came in. Just another point of interest.

My wife had this issue just today all of a sudden. We tried everything in this thread, deleted all of the dll files and such out of the EQ2 directory and did a full file scan, but nothing was working.

She found a program that was part of Comcast's software package called "Desktop Doctor", which was installed on 9/5/2008 as some sort of autoupdate. Just before uninstalling this, she had tried patching and got the error. As soon as she uninstalled this program, she was able to get in and has not had the problem since.

So I would suggest for others having this issue all of a sudden, look under Add/Remove programs and check what programs were installed since you started having the issue and that may help.

Occurred right after I uninstalled a background program called "Asus GamerOSD", that came with the motherboard utilities.I've followed the instructions, and EQ2 works, but now something is still screwy - vista doesn't detect my 20 inch widescreen's native resolution of 1680x1050. It's now showing up as 1440x900 in both Window's display settings as well as in the Catalyst Control Center. Is there any way to fix this?UPDATE: Fixed. Had to delete the drivers for my monitor and let windows automatically reinstall. This whole ordeal took me 4-5hrs...terrible experience. Devs, I hope you guys fix this soon.

After the raid we went into Heroic Zones. Everything was fine, we played a while until i got sleepy ... so i logged out. I was grapping some food in the kitchen as my girlfriend calls me to look at a strange "Fatal Error Message" on her screen. She tried to log back in but after some seconds the client crashed again. She tried for a while but her client always crashed. I asked her if she installed or modified anything but she said: "no totally nothing!". You should know this: It's a "Girldfriend PC", those kind of PCs wich are only used to play EQ2 and browse through the internet. A gaming PC where NEVER EVER is anything changed or modified. I asked her if she modified the grafic-options but she said :"No nothing!". She was just healing her group in a guk instance and SUDDENLY, out of nothing, this error msg occured.

Today i tried to solve the problem:

I deleted the grafic driver, rebooted the system and installed them again. The client crashed again after some seconds in the guild hall. I downloaded the "driver cleaner tool", and followed EXACTLY the instructions in the "windows safe mode with network drivers". But that didn't fixed the problem. Then i updated ms .net to 3.5, but that didn't worked. Then i installed older grafic-drivers: 175.16_geforce_winxp_32bit_international_whql.exe. Client crashed again. I googled a lot but i didn't found a fix. I scanned for viruses and found nothing. I logged into the char-selection/creation screen and changed the grafic and soundoptions a lot, but the client crashed again after i logged into the game. i opened msconfig and deactivated a service called "Fehlerberichterstattungsdienst". I dont know how this is called in englisch, maybe "ErrorMessageReportService" ??? But it didn't fixed the problem - client crashed seconds after running around in the guild hall.

Then i SOLVED the problem by doing this:

I removed every kind of software that is not nessesarry to play eq2 (xfire, oo defrag, Eset AV ...). Then I opened the Everquest2 folder and DELETED every FILE in it except the EQ2.exe ! I DID NOT TOUCHED ANY FOLDER - I JUST DELETED EVERY SINGLE FILE but not the EQ2.exe ! Then i clicked on EQ2.exe and of course it patched a lot. After the patching was done i clicked on play. The client logged onto the server. I ran around in our guild hall - NO CRASHING ! Hailed & clicked the NPCs - NO CLIENT CRASH. Changed the grafic options to ULTRA HIGH Quallity - everthing was fine. Changed the grafic options to HIGH Quallity and then tweaked them a bit (e.g. no shadows) ! She is now playing since one hour and everything is ok. The client runs smooth and doesn't crash anymore. Fixed the problem !

So try this and give feedback:

1. Remove software that is not nessesarry to play EQ2 (Virus scanner, firewalls). All programms wich are running in the bagground of windows. Or just close it or maybe remove their auto-start option. Better delete them.

2. download newest grafic card driver and the newest directX version

3. download "driver cleaner" and install

4. start windows in "safe mode with network drivers" (hit F8 before windows starts)

5. start "driver cleaner" and remove your grafic card drivers then close the programm

6. now install directX and reboot

7. start windows in "safe mode with network drivers" (hit F8 before windows it starts)

8. now install the newest grafic card driver

9. reboot windows and just let it start normal/default

10. open MSCONFIG, go to the tab "services" and uncheck the box in front of "Fehlerberichterstattungsdienst" (ErrorMessageReportService). I don't now if this has anything to do with the fix, but i've done it !

11. reboot windows

12. download and update ms .NET to version 3.5 if you have an older version

13. just reboot windows one more time (don't ask just do it)

14. goto your EQ2 folder and delete the files in it ! Don't delete the folders and don't delete the EQ2.exe !

15. start EQ2.exe and let the patcher download the files then click on play

16. now just run around and hail/click NPCs. If the client doesn't crash then choose your grafic-options. Play !

17. Load your custom ui if you have one and play !

This is EXACTLY how i fixed the problem ! I really don't know if the service i deactivated or the ms .NET update has anything to do with my fix but i've done it so just DO IT ! Then let me know if this guide helped, thx.

Suggestion:

This is really a strange thing. As my Girldfriend just played along, something stranged must happened in her EQ2-Folder in combination with directx9 and her nvidia drivers. Something changed in a way wich causes the client to crash. The total kill and absolut fresh reinstall of different (older & newer) graficcard drivers and directX9 and the deleting of some eq2 files has fixed the problem. I can't explain why some people couldn't fix the problem by reinstalling windows & eq2, but it seems to me that this fatal error has something to do with Eq2 files, grafic card drivers and directx. Maybe the new install of windows and/or eq2 couldn't solve some problems with that issue, because these players first logged into the char-selection screen and tweaked their grafic-options BEFORE they logged in. So the problem just occures again because a constellation of drivers, directx, eq2 files and graficoptions generates it. As the error message poped up on my girldfriends pc the tank was pulling a named in guk. So i assume that this named was just creating some sort of "effect/sound/script" wich in a combination of drivers, directx9 and her graficoptions caused the client to crash. Further more in that situation something "changed" on her harddrive. If you try my guide and then you are starting eq2 for the first time, just let the grafic options as they are and try to play a while before you change them. good luck.

Ok, we tested this ...

but after ~7 hours of testing it crashed again with the same fatal error !

Her char was standing /afk in the guild hall (rattonga warden 80). After hours she returned and crafted some things. Then she went back /afk again. Back later we grouped and cleaned 4 TSO instances. After that EQ2 crashed - with the same fatal error !

So i checked this issue again. I booted windows XP in "safe mode with network drivers" and simply installed newest version of DX9 again. Reboot -> but the client crashed again in that moment the loading was finished.

I opened EQ2 folder and deleted all the files in it, except the EQ2.exe. I clicked on EQ2.exe and let the patcher download the missing files. Then i choosed a char and clicked on play ! No crash, it's running again (since 1-2 hours). What the hell is up ?

I am very upset ! SOE didn't solved the "out of memory" problem - since YEARS ! Nobody knows if they even work on a fix. Now a new problem slowly occures, the "DX/GFX issue". And we all know that it can happen to everyone, just out of a sudden. And SOE will not help us. If we don't solve this - nobody will. So plz report here what's going on !

If you can't login due to this error, delte all files in the eq2 folder and tray again (don't change the grafic options). If this doesnt help reinstall DX & grafic driver & delete those files again. Can you login & play ?

I was still getting the "ou_of_memory" errors and an occasional BSOD, now I get this, AFTER I played around in the Moors for a few hours, logged off, then came back the next night to play again.

I ran DXDIAG and did all the tests and everything came out squeaky clean, with everything working perfectly and no conflicts. The only thing it showed was that my driver for the X-Fi wasn't WHQL'd, but all the music and sound tests still passed with flying colors.

Device manager also shows NO yellow warning signs, and everything working as it should. At this point, i'm stumped, but now it's been 2 days where I can't play at all, live or test (crashes soon as I click "PLAY" from the launcher). Any suggestions, please?

This error has been happening for quite some time for me. Within the last month, it has become a daily occurence. I have tried to follow your directions only to be stopped at the step : start computer in safe mode. I cannot get my computer to do this!!! I seem to recall... from a year or so ago.. that when i needed to start in safe mode.. i was unable to do so, due to how my keyboard is plugged in to the tower??? I just cannot remember. Anyhoo... my computer refuses to start in safe mode... and my problem still exists !

On a side note, i have been playing on the Test ( not copy) server for over a week now.... NO CRASHING !!!!!! SO what gives???? I also noticed, while on test, my graphics settings are much HIGHER than on my regular server of Lucan Delere. I am soo frustrated at this point that the game is no longer fun. If i want to play i must go to Test, and that is very very lonely !!!

I have on my desktop, the DxDiag but do not know how to put it here with this post so you can see my system info.

Please Help, this is driving me NUTS !!!

I haven't done anything to the computer at all since then; when I started EQ2 it updated EverQuest2.exe, and after that it started crashing.

I got this error:

<alert>

E:liveeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcDirectX9RenderDevi ce.cpp(13549): sRestoreGammaRamp(): Gamma ramps are not saved

This leads me to believe that the problem originates from the game itself; I haven't touched my directX or graphiccard drivers for several months, and no automatic updates of them have happened.

I tried to reinstall directX, but it didn't solve anything. I then removed every file except EQ2.exe from the EQ2 dir, and tried to run EQ2. This didn't solve anything. However, I still believe that the error is because of the last update the game did, and nothing else!

Last week, I did a recent thorough uninstall and re-install of graphic drivers and DirectX 9.0c drivers due to trying to fix some NVIDIA driver errors in my event log upon startup.

Now, instead of my original error, I get these:

E:liveeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcDirectX9RenderDevi ce.cpp(2690): DirectX Error. (E_OUTOFMEMORY)

I can reproduce this error easily by going up ramp in EFP to WFP, by riding the carpet from SS docks to Twin Tears carpet waypoint, and by running through my friend's residence in Qeynos.

I have found that I do not get the the FP and carpet errors by facing backwards as I go up the ramp and when riding the carpet.

I never used to get any Render error prior to the TSO expansion.

Should be of use to someone. Gfay is the 2nd worst zone but its only a possibility that I get this message there. Neriak is a FOR SURE. I cannot go 10min without crashing there.
Ok i have to say i have a Fresh Hard drive and all the latest drivers and DX please see my post in the App ran out of memory as i think these 2 issues are related as they both started happening at the same time and after the big update and it seems to be happening more often i would Bug it but most of the time i have to shutdown the PC and reboot cause it locks up but both errors are (1) DX rendering and (2) App ran out of memory ..

Yentam

80 Templar (Mistmoore Server)

Hiyas,

Well after spending a little while looking into this I may have found a solution.

Follow the screenshot below and navigate to the EQ2 folder, in the screenshot below you will see the one I have highlighted, Run EQ2settings:

Now when you have Eq2settings click the settings tab along the top & set the screen resolution to any of the ones in the drop down menu. When I first went into here the field was blank, I am assuming that EQ2 does not understand what the blank field was so interrupted the load sequence with a DirectX Render engine failure (ie did not have a resolution to use)

Hopefully this will help other people because mine is now fixed 100%.

Oh and this was from a clean install of EQ2 with new Nvidia drivers and Directx9c newly installed.

Sorry Ennbenna thats not the issue as you can set your settings in the updater or usin the Alt-O in game even it was a nice try but its not the issue there are 4 ways that i know of to set your settings went in and looked at the EQ2 settings via the folder its the same as doing it from the updater, char select,in game or the EQ2 folder settings but again nice try... im gonna get on the phone with a NVidia Lvl 2 Techie that i know and give him the info and see if he cant figure out whats going on keep your fingers crossed who knows it may even go to Lvl 1 Tech support at least for the NVidia Cards ill see what i can muster

Yent

ok it isnt our game thats causing the Rendering issue its on the SOE server side they either have a Corrupted file or the file does not exsist Everyones game are calling out for the as in my case D:liveeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcdirextx9renderdevi ce.cpp this file either dont exsist or ie: my game is calling to your server for a file that dont exsist.... so just rebuild that file or Take out the Calling so the game dont look for that file either way the file is there and is corrupted or its not there check it out )

Yentam

Ok, Was wondering if something went wrong on the download/install in the original try. I totally uninstalled everquest II and then this time instead of using the original box and downloading ALL the expansions I used my KoS box that I used with that original box. Once I got the program installed I did the download and made sure I did not put any UI's or anything in this time.

Did this fix it. No

I have the newest video drivers

I have done tons of memory test

I have run diagnostics on my pc overnight without any failures

I have followed the instructions to the letter with the exception I had to download a different scrubber as the free one was no longer fee but the link had another one linked so I used that one.

I downloaded and reinstalled directx (unfortunately you can not uninstalled directx) So hopefully microsoft windows is not lieing to me when it says it installs it.

I have loaded approx 20 other games and all are working ok. Some use Directx and have no problems.

PLEASE HELP!

I'm new to EQ2 (had it about a week now,) - I was told that the quests are more like working out puzzles, but I didn't expect this

Here's the info for tracking purposes, (with some extras just for luck) :

OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Ver.2002Service pack: SP3Video card make and model: ATI Radeon X300SE Graphics Processor (0x5B60) Video card driver version: ati2dvag.dll 6.14.0010.6925 7/22/2009 02:54:20, 325120 bytesError: Same as everyone else...

"EverQuest II has detected an unrecoverable error and must shut down.

<verify> E:liveeq2frameworkcoredevicessrcDirectX9RenderDevi ce.cpp (Some number here):

DirectX Error. (E_OUTOFMEMORY) "

Did the fix work? Short answer: No.

Complex answer: Did the Safe mode thing and wiped all traces of video driver and ATI CCC from my PC. Installed latest driver from ATI website (just the WDM download). Removed all the unnecessary stuff from the start up programs, and reset my PC. THEN PANICKED, as the drivers were not recognized. After a cup of tea and a lie down I found that the WDM only download from ATI did not contain the main driver file. So I downloaded the ATI CCC complete package, box and dice, and installed only the driver section of it, (no CCC.) Driver now recognized, I started EQ2, played for about 15min, then crashed.

(Only difference now is that I no longer have the VPU Recover a couple of times, (which was an ATI CCC function.))

As a side note, from what I can see, the update for DirectX9.0c includes some or all of the SDK redist files/libraries. This would seem to indicate that Microsoft does not intend to update/support DX9c any longer, and is encouraging consumers to upgrade to Win7, (with it's more versatile DirectX version).

As the Techies are probly aware, the DirectX error does not necessarily mean that the DirectX call or obejct are at fault. They can most likely even pin point the call that is returning the error. The conditions surronding that call, and the object in memory at the time (or maybe not in memory where it should be expected to be,) are more likely to be at the heart of the issue.

SO, what should we be watching for? What glitches, hicups or processes should we be watching so that we can give more comprehensive and helpful feedback? Is there any background logging programs that could provide you with more useful data?

Ta

I have been playing EQ2 for the last 3 days with no problem..logged on at 1:00 pm CST and the patcher updated for whatever reason, and after the update I got the following message...

Really getting frustrated. Got this new computer and I thought it was due to the new fancy video card causing this issue but it is NOT.

What I have discovered so far.

I have done all the suggested things of latest version of drivers vers remove drivers and download directx from march 2009 and also the one from Aug 2009 and they all failed.

I got the dt's so I pulled my new ASUS ATI 4870 1GB video card out and put in my older yet usable PNY invidia 9600gts. I then scrubbed all the ati drivers off while in safe mode and installed the recommended directx by the date that the tech on the chat recommended and then booted up.

I thougtht well at least I can use this till a fix comes out. NOPE

YUP I said NOPE it failed too.

This video card worked great in my ASUS AMD 3800+ Rig but will not work in this new fancy i5 rig.

I wonder if its something with the new i5 rather than the video as the new i5 and i7's don't use the northbridge and connect directly to the video card from the processor thus making them supposedly faster.

How about the rest of you. Are your setups with different processors or the same as mine the new i5?

Since the memory leak fix I am able to run a bit better, but am still getting DirectX errors.

I have tried a number of things to stop the errors, the latest of which is to lower the hardware acceleration. At the moment I have it set at 2 levels below Full, [Disable all cursor and advanced drawing acceleration.] At this setting I have been able to play for over an hour without any errors. Due to the setting though I have a strange looking mouse pointer, and book/feathers do not show up in game, (but are on the minimap.)

Perhaps it's time to move on.

And why is the game looking for a E: drive when that's an empty optical drive (blu-ray)?

And... this appears to have been an issue that's been around for over two years - that's an awfully long time for it to still be happening!

For what it's worth, here's the alertlog that was produced:

build="SOEBuild=7124L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/11/23 18:05:35" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="qey_north" loc="273.38 -17.95 -123.08" performance="7" alert="E:liveeq2frameworkvdlsrcVdlErr.cpp(85): (VDL Parser) *buffer*(0) : Error, File not found: clientvdl/spellvisuals/expansion_07/reverant_book_swarm_red.vdl"build="SOEBuild=7124L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/11/23 18:05:35" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="qey_north" loc="273.38 -17.95 -123.08" performance="7" alert="E:liveeq2gamegamecommonclientEqSpellCast.cpp(97): ERROR - Unable to load spell cast 'clientvdl/spellvisuals/expansion_07/reverant_book_swarm_red.vdl'."build="SOEBuild=7124L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/11/23 18:05:35" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="qey_north" loc="273.38 -17.95 -123.08" performance="7" alert="E:liveeq2frameworkvdlsrcVdlErr.cpp(85): (VDL Parser) *buffer*(0) : Error, File not found: clientvdl/spellvisuals/expansion_07/reverant_book_swarm_blue.vdl"build="SOEBuild=7124L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/11/23 18:05:35" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="qey_north" loc="273.38 -17.95 -123.08" performance="7" alert="E:liveeq2gamegamecommonclientEqSpellCast.cpp(97): ERROR - Unable to load spell cast 'clientvdl/spellvisuals/expansion_07/reverant_book_swarm_blue.vdl'."build="SOEBuild=7124L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/11/23 18:05:35" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="qey_north" loc="273.38 -17.95 -123.08" performance="7" alert="E:liveeq2frameworkvdlsrcVdlErr.cpp(85): (VDL Parser) *buffer*(0) : Error, File not found: clientvdl/spellvisuals/expansion_07/coldain_light_flare.vdl"build="SOEBuild=7124L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/11/23 18:05:35" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="qey_north" loc="273.38 -17.95 -123.08" performance="7" alert="E:liveeq2gamegamecommonclientEqSpellCast.cpp(97): ERROR - Unable to load spell cast 'clientvdl/spellvisuals/expansion_07/coldain_light_flare.vdl'."build="SOEBuild=7124L" version="SOEVersionString=2010/11/23 18:05:35" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="qey_south" loc="397.54 -20.50 146.62" performance="7" alert="E:liveeq2frameworkresmansrcResourceManager.cpp(201 3): Error loading _exp03/composed/zones/objects/castle_mistmoore/epic01/doors/mc_epic01coffin_door01.voc"

A little more information that may help diagnose. I've removed Winamp Agent, Open Office and Intel Rapid Storage Technology from my notfication icons as well as stopping the Open Office shortcut from starting from the er... startup of my PC. I've remained in-game without the crash for 1 1/2 hours. Now, whether this is just coincidence or not remains to be seen so I'd best monitor and see what happens.

Could there have been something there causing a conflict?

Getting this error message repeatedly:

Everquest II has detected an unrecoverable error and must shutdown<verify>E:liveeq2frameworkcoresrcDirectX9RenderDevice.cpp( 6059):DirectX Error.(Unkown)00b06c6b

Running:

Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit) - fully patched and up to date

Nvidia GeForce 9800 GX2 - latest drivers (260.99)

Also latest Directx drivers

I think considering the length of time this directx render issue has been outstanding with yourselves it's pretty poor showing!.

Just hope I don't have to give up playing this game if these issues become more of a nusiance than they currently are.

[Removed for Content] Sony?

I seriously doubt that it's my PC since it doing to both of my PC's.

On my laptop I tried new drivers and such, nothing worked. I eventually tried to re-install EQ2 and the station launcher gets and error message loking for a file that DOES NOT exist.
I'm having the same problem. Played fine for 2 yrs. now I can't play for more than 5 min without the same message popping up and locking my game.
