View Full Version : Looking for a fun Solo Questing Class
Trying to find the right class for me, I've read many threads and looked at the different forums but still can't decide.Overall I am looking for a class that is fun to play and to look at. I want mostly to do things on my own though I may group up with others (1 or 2) occasionally. Looks of their weapons and armor, fluff spells, animations, and style of play have a huge effect on my decision and I could use some help with it.I am not a big fan of kiting or rooting and nuking. Pet classes I am alright with as well as classes that can go toe to toe with others. But remember my main thing will be soloing and questing, collecting items like tome and lore n' legend quests. I want a character that can do such very well.Monk: I like the animations of a froglok monks and their weapons look decent. The special abilities are nice and lots of nice utility. Feign death, invis, etc could be a great help. Though I understand tinkering could give me feign death on any class.Brigand: Seems like one of the best soloers of the melee-types, though I am not that crazy about doing it mostly through stun-locking a monster. They have tracking, stealth, evac, etc and that looks like it could be of great use.Necro/Conjuror: Both of these classes look like they could do well and I -love- the different looks of their pet. The necromancer has a lot of style to them and as long as they aren't a root nuke type... not sure how well they solo compared to other classes however. Conjuror looks spiffy and I like their high end spell that allows them to have all 3/4 of their pets up at once 1/4th of the time.Inquisitor: Inquisitor as a 'battle-cleric' AA spec looks like it could solo well and with the fancy armor and using a 2h mace it might be a lot of fun.Shadowknight: Heavy armor, some interesting spells this is another class I am eyeing though am not quite sure how they compare to the other classes at soloing.Coercer: This class I've heard lots of conflicting info about. On one hand charm looks amazing and amazing fun. I also like the fluff spells that make other characters do things (Illusions don't interest me much since petrified eyes exist). Not sure how well they solo though... and it sounds like they die, a lot.Any other ideas what class might be right for me would be helpful to. I've done quite a bit of research but would really appreciate anyone helping me narrow the list down, even if that means adding another class or two to it.I doubt I will ever be interested in raiding though I might group a bit. I am confident in myself that I can make -any- class I play raidworthy if I decide to take it that route. But finding which one is a lot of fun and able to do what I want (and with style) is driving me a bit batty.Which classes tend to be able to solo-quest the best of all the types?

I have solo'd her up to 58 and it was a BLAST! She is a Wood elf though.... Something that I wanted to mention is the Tinker FD item is not as good. You need to be a HIGH level tinker to get a 99% chance FD item... and there is a cool down on it as well. The Monk FD reuse timer is a few seconds.Brigand: Seems like one of the best soloers of the melee-types, though I am not that crazy about doing it mostly through stun-locking a monster. They have tracking, stealth, evac, etc and that looks like it could be of great use. This could be fun as well, but there is no healing capability like the monk has. You would need to rely on potions, Food and drink....Necro/Conjuror: Both of these classes look like they could do well and I -love- the different looks of their pet. But if she gains aggro, she is dead.... Inquisitor: Inquisitor as a 'battle-cleric' AA spec looks like it could solo well and with the fancy armor and using a 2h mace it might be a lot of fun.Supposedly, with the right AA set up, Inquisitors can do some good damage.. however, you need the AA's to do so... It will take you a while to gain enough of these. How will you like the class before you get them?Shadowknight: Heavy armor, some interesting spells this is another class I am eyeing though am not quite sure how they compare to the other classes at soloing. Not really sure on this one.... My hubby plays one, but we duo with my Troubador.Coercer: This class I've heard lots of conflicting info about. On one hand charm looks amazing and amazing fun. Not sure how well they solo though... and it sounds like they die, a lot. With all mages, if they gain aggro and can not lose it, then they are in fact squishy. As you level, you learn tricks and techniques to be able to solo well and group.Any other ideas what class might be right for me would be helpful to. I hope that this helps...

I'll fill in the blank on the SK.

My main is an SK. Fun, fairly easy class to play. Self-healing is handy. Good balance of melee and spells/CAs. AAs offer some variety. Can be handy in a small group as tank and/or DPS. I've never raided, but my understanding is that SKs are seldom anyone's first choice to invite to a raid, but it sounds like that won't be a problem for you, either. They get an FD and an evac. Kinda a jack-of-all-trades, master of none kinda class. Have solo'd and PUG'd up to 64.

SC
