I have no real EQ2 problems. Everything is working fine. But I'm about to throw my arms up in defeat if I cannot figure out how to somehow enable AA for EQ2. I've sifted through google searches and this forum (including the epic Vista thread) and found no real solutions. Using vintage posts from 2006, I added the widdle bit of code to my EQ2.ini file, but of course that made no difference. All my drivers are up to date, for better or for worse.OS: Vista Home Premium (64-bit)Video card: NVIDIA 8800GT 512MB OCI just can't play EQ2 like this.

I am having the exact same problem. Please if anyone could help, would be greatly appreciated. Without FSAA this game looks bleh.

I'm going to run some tests on FSAA and Vista when I get a spare moment. It may be tomorrow before I have any results, but I'll see what I can find.

Thank you much. I've tried Vista 32 bit edition and 64 bit edition and the problem remains. I've also tried the 169 nVidia drivers as well with no luck.

Ok, I figured out what my problem was and now have full FSAA support via the nVidia control panel.

This was my solution:

In my Everquest2 folder I had two files that I looked at. One read as eq2.ini and in the "Type" column it was labeled 'Text Document' (This is using "Details" view rather than your standard Tiles view) I opened this file and noticed the UI paths were old and knew it wasn't right so I deleted it (I most likely created it myself a while ago)

The ACTUAL .ini file was just called eq2 and in the "Type" column was labeled 'Configuration Settings'. I opened this and saw several options to enable marked with a '#' before the actual command.

Go down to where it says # r_aa_blit 1 and remove the '#'.

Then your good to go.

See I saw all the "vintage" posts from back in the day about this and never had to do this before... and when I did try it, I added it to that other eq2.ini TEXT document so it had no effect.

I hope this helps.

That sounds like some good information.

I just got a new computer at work and it has vista on it(Yay!). If I get some time later today I'll see if I can confirm your results.

Maybe I'm daft but can't you just make a profile for the game in nvidias control panel and force aa for the game?

"Maybe I'm daft but can't you just make a profile for the game in nvidias control panel and force aa for the game?"Yeah you can, seems to work for me...I'm running on 64bit Vista with a 9800gx2 and the game works better then it ever has.By the way, to the original few posters. The game does not look THAT bad without AA on.....honestly you're better off maxing out the resolution and playing with AA off....you'll get a HUGE boost in your frame rate, and the jagged edges will be minimal at max resolution.. especially considering EQ2 wasn't really designed to use AA anyway, which is why it's turned off by default and needs to be forced on in the .iniI've had my fair share of problems over the years with this game. =/

By removing the '#' It then allowed me to make an eq2 profile and adjust the FSAA to where I wanted it by using the nVidia control panel like you suggested. Like I stated above, I have no idea where that '#' came from, I've been playing this game for years and have always been able to adjust the AA using the nVidia control panel. (Its possible I added that bit of code in when the game went live and just forgot about it over the years) but this time around was a fresh install via the Station Launcher and I then copied my old layouts and configurations into the folder along with my custom UI files like eq2maps and ProfitUI so I wouldn't have to go through from scratch and personalize the game again.

And yes the game looks quite outdated without FSAA. I put alot of money into my system and had absolutely no other problems with eq2 except for this FSAA issue which is now fixed and the game is back to looking wonderful and running smooth.
