Setup Help

Hi,I'm trying to get myself set up to play, and every time I login i get a message saying there was a problem withlp_plugin.exe and that that particular program has shut down. I downloaded one patch that took around 12 hours, and since then every download i get ends in download canceled. Needless to say I'm a tad bit frustrated. Can anyone tell me what is wrong and/or give me a method of going about fixing the problem?Thanks,Gaia

Could your <a href="http://help.station.sony.com/cgi-bin/soe.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=11851" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">router/firewall</a> be interfering at all?

No, turning off the firewall has no effect on what's wrong.Character select is also said to be unavailable if that makes things any more clear.

As of 6 minutes ago, US servers went down for a small patch..  estimated downtime was 1 hour....

Maybe that's it...Should I be able to create a new character right away after the update?Also, it has "character select unavailable" up. Although I have no characters yet, shouldn't there be an option to create a character?I don't know, I suppose all I can do is wait...

<p>It says "character select unavailable" if you have no characters, and sometimes when the servers have come down, so dont worry about that.</p><p>To get to the character select screen you'll have to press the big red play button first (cant remember if it takes you directly to the character create screen or whether you have to go through the character select screen first if you have no characters already).</p>

When is this big red play button supposed to appear?Also, one download keeps getting to 100% and the canceling itself.Any ideas as to what is causing this?

The red Play button will only appear after the download is complete.  If something stops the download and it is not you, then there is something blocking it....  as I suggested *wink*Also note, if you are running on Vista, Eq2 needs to be run as admin....

Hehehe...I think I know what it is then...Vista -.-*Seems I still need to learn how to set myself as an admin. on my new computer.*Edit* Nevermind...I am an admin, although the download still never completes.I've tried the firewall, and it doesn't change anything even if i turn it off.The only clue i have is that some quits everytime I load EQ2

Try to right click the launcher icon and select run as Admin....  See if that helps...
