<p>Since this is my only account that can actually log in currently...this makes 1 of 4 accounts that I can access this forum with. I assume alot of people out there right now can not log in at all at the moment.</p><p>I get the error: The operation timed out. </p><p>This happens within one second of hiting the Login button on the EQ2 launcher.</p><p>I forgot to add, that I was able to log in a few hours ago so I can patch up to the current version. But I had to reboot for a unrelated reason and when I tried to login again to continue patching, this occurs.</p>

Having the exact same issue. Asking for a new password also did nothing.
<p>Same issue on my other account. Crashed whilst zoning now timing out trying to get back in.</p>

A large amount of account trouble occurs by Sebilis now. Without two or more accounts because of not putting it even in the Station.com, it is not possible to write it in the forum. Please correspond soon.

<p>Same here. Stopped playing since last Septembre, heard there's a free 2 months play right now, thought i'd patch my account and jump in ... patching worked fine for 2 hours, then i got disconnected and can't login now. 4 out of 5 accounts work, i'm currently patching on one of those accounts to save time when the main one comes up again, but all 4 are old and has no characters, so they're basically useless except for posting here and patching.</p><p>Hope it gets fixed soon. Thanks.</p>

Wonder if this is something they'll actually fix, or will we all stand around here just waiting for something to happen. Any help on this issue would be nice (though it's only 5:30am GMT so I doubt it'll be for a few more hours yet).

Woo Hooi am currently logged thru a friends account... he has been bugging me to get the game for weeks, i finally buckle to him and here i am, unable to log in at all... cant log in to the game, or the website, and as SOE is West Coast US, and i am South Coast UK, it seems that im not gonna get any joy til after 3.30pm local time <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />is this something to do with the legacy thing?

<p>Well it's interesting to see I'm not the only one having this problem. What's disturbing is that only those with a second account are actually able to post here, and make the problem known.</p><p> Initially I too received an operation timed out message; this eventually was replaced with: Error Code: error.authentication.retrieval.fail</p><p> I also requested a new password, and am still unable to access anything with the new password SOE sent me. Btw, I am using the same computer, so I know this is not a firewall issue as the knowledge base suggests.</p>

Same thing here, got booted while zoning with the dreaded message (invalid username/password). Been trying to login for an hour now since it happened and it keeps telling me operation timed out.

Right now were re-creating the experiences they had when PoK was released with the Nexus!

And here I was thinking omg I'm crazy and something is horribly wrong. In any event apparently the servers should be coming down in roughly an hour. Maybe they know? It wouldn't hurt to get some Tech Support response here though. There is nothing about this on the knowledge base at all.
Same thing here. Was posting on the forums from work fine then all of a sudden can't log in. Had been pratting around on the Legends site and thought this may have had an effect. Tried having password reset and now old p/w results in "incorrect password" while the reset password returns the "operation timed out" message. I noticed that there was an update to the patcher today too. This is the wife's account btw <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/136dd33cba83140c7ce38db096d05aed.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

<p>Both my accounts had the error "operation timed out" but now I've been able to log into both.</p><p> I didn't do anything but wait no more than 10 mins, just surfing the web and then tried again.</p><p> So give it a try now and come play!</p>

Same Issue here. Everything was fine when I logged off at 1am EST last night, but as of 8am EST this morning, I can't log on to my second account. It would be nice if Tech Support would at least let us know that they are working on it!

My Account is bugged with same issue as far as logging into Staion and the game. I can log into players and here at the forums thank god. The wifes account is in the same state as mine. My main issue is we just had a huge lagg problem in April that caused us to not be able to play for about 2 weeks or so. Ended up being a cobination of things between SOE and my ISP as I am in Guam which for those who dont know falls under the Asian region so we get flagged everynow and then but its uauually resolved with in a few hours. This however is obviously not the same thing as it seems its happening to people world wide so I guees it will be a lte night for me so I can call them when they open at 10am. Which is around 3am for me <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/136dd33cba83140c7ce38db096d05aed.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" /> Although if a Tech Rep could respond to this and has some info I will be watching this post for a while yet.

<p>i had exactly the same problem an hour ago (had to post on here as a different account)</p><p>i read on a post (from a year ago), with the same problem, to try just shutting off the pc (this was from a tech support). So i've done just that, turned off the router and my pc and walked away for an hour. it seems to be working ok now.</p>

I had the same problem happen for the first time today. Was zoning and got a quick message about wrong password then booted me to desktop. Had operation timed out message when trying to log in for over an hour. I didn't reboot my computer or anythingWhile browsing other posts on this same topic I found this...Quoted from TSR-ChrisL 08/03/2007<span class="postbody">"Since the beta launch of LoN some people have been having the Operation timed out errors. We do know about the problem but the only fix we have for now is to leave your system shut down for about 30 minutes to an hour. This will allow your system to release the sockets that are used with LoN and you should then be able to log back in."</span>

The problem is fixed now, would like if someone from Support tell us why does it happen. After reading some threads seems it's happening often.

To answer your question Metallurion,While 'operation timed out' is a generic error message, there is one bug right now that can cause that error message every time. It only happens if you have a lot of features enabled on your account(about 150+), and usually only effects serious LoN players. Assuming this is the cause we can correct it for you and there is a fix coming out shortly that will eliminate the bug entirely. Using the beta station launcher will work around that issue for now. The majority of people experiencing the issue are simply having a standard connection problem, though.

Thank you for replying. If it happens again i'll use the Beta Launcher.

I tried multiple computers. And I don't play LON. So I don't see how this problem could be either LON related OR a "standard connection problem". A connection problem should affect any account, not one specific acct regardless of the computer. That makes no sense, sorry.I'm also fixed, I just didn't want this erroneous perception to stand.

What I said was based on all of the information I've been provided and I've fixed several accounts experiencing the issue in this way. Usually when it is not caused by the LoN features bug, and its only effecting one of several accounts, its a port forwarding issue with the router. Certainly there are special cases, but this is what I've seen through my experiences.
