So, as many before me, I took the plunge and went AOC. It's good, but it's not great. It's severely lacking the crack-factor I'm used to from EQ2. No shinies, no master chests, no spell upgrades... and a whole other slew of no's.I fired up EQ2 again today, seeing as I got 60 days free play now and I was a bit disappointed, to say the least. Now, I may be a bit of a graphics [Removed for Content], but I've spent years in Everquest 2 and I've upgraded my machine a lot during that time, never seeing any improvement. At the moment I'm running an OC'ed Q6600 with 2 8800GT's in SLI. This made Conan run perfectly, getting a steady framerate that never drops below 60 in the outside zones and hoveres around 40 in the cities. All this with all options maxed at a resolution of 1920*1200. The only thing that kills the FPS in Conan is Bloom. Anti aliasing isn't even felt. In certain instances I get over 150+ fps.It must be said, the game is pretty! Then again, so is EQ2. But upgrades or not, this game runs like crap. It's like the power of my machine isn't even used. Now, in the past, there have been MMO's that upgraded their graphics. Eve did it recently. EQ1 has done so in the past. Why won't you folks work on your engine? At launch we were told this game needed "future" hardware to shine. It has yet to shine, though. Before I left, I still had to drop down the graphics for raids. Spell effects kills fps dead. Haven is choppy. Tiny zone, huge population... killer. So what happened? This game should run flawlessly by now, yet it doesn't. It's choppy. RoK didn't help much. Viewdistance was increased, zones got bigger, but performance took a nosedive! Will it always be this way? Is something in the works for this? Are you guys considering upgrading the (now somewhat dated) looks of this game and make it run a little smoother? If you're planning on keeping the customers satisfied like you've done with EQ1 for the past 10 years, I think you should consider upgrading.
