Hello,When you first select an item to create, just before you begin you are given the option to change some of the items... what does this do? What can I change items for? Thanks

There where alternative components some times ago and so it was usefull to be able to choose the item you wanted to use.For exemple you could use "lambent tooth", "lambent flower" and so on to create something and choose which kind of lambent you would use. You could also drop some items used in tradeskills (as the aprons in Splitpaw for pelts and so on).

If you still have some of those old components you can use the option to use those items instead of the new harvested raws.

Beyond the imbuing scales, stones, flowers, and teeth prior to them being combined into one "material", there's also old harvests and crafted components from before LU 24. As weird as it sounds, many things like poison vials, chloro wash, and soapweed are still on the broker, and can still be used as substitutes for crafted materials. About half the "roots" my tailor used to get through T3 were actually some of these.Naomi's got a chart of what pre-LU24 materials can be exchanged for which currently-used materials here. Some of these can be picked up from the broker dirt cheap, while others are priced outrageously high - in either case it's usually because the person selling them has no clue what they're for. If you're short on materials (particularly roots) and the ones you usually use are priced too high, it's often worth your time to check items on that list.
