Is there much of a difference between the racial abilities that each race offers? Will they make a big impact on end game play? I was thinking about either an Iksar, Arasai, or Dark Elf, but can't really decide. What is everbodies opinions on the best now a days.

Basically just choose whatever you like more. Remember, you will stare at your toon's back for next 80 levels Racial things doesn't really help much. Sure they add, but not that much to prefer one race over another.

It's high enough that, except for stat boosts, you don't really need food... add in Lich and you don't really need water. That said, just pick a race that you like. The racial abilities aren't really all that important. I'm now leveling up a Sarnak Necromancer just because I think they look cool.

If you're looking to min/max, Erudite and Dark Elf are the two best races. They both offer the best racial traditions and have the best stats for your intended role: damage-dealing machine. The differences?Erudites get +2% Power Pool and 5% casting speed haste (also immensely useful), +2% spell crit and +5 Disruption, and an encounter-based AoEDark Elfs get a deaggro (immensely useful), +3% Power Pool, +2% spell crit and +5 Disruption, and a temporary buff that increases casting speed and spell crit by 10% and 5%, respectively. As for Iksar and Arasai...Iksar get +3% Health, +2% spell crit and +5 Focus, and a short-duration single target DoT.Arasai get +2% spell crit, a temporary buff that increases casting speed and spell crit by 10% and 5%, respectively (the same one that Dark Elves get), in-combat power regen (which is useless once you hit 50), and a deaggro (immensely useful).Arasai are almost as good as a Dark Elf as far as racial traditions go, but at the high end a bigger power pool is probably more effective than more power regen is to a necro. Iksar do have more hit points, though, which lets you lifeburn for that much more damage.

As it has already been stated play what you want to play. I play the rare dwarf necromancer. Did that as a dare with my fiance and found out to be realy fun to play. Do I care what people think no and neither should you when it comes to making your mind up which race to chose.

My necro on Nagafen (pvp) is an ogre. I wanted the extra HP and it gets a nice knockdown/stun ability, good for PVP.
