The good news is that they said it should be fixed within the next couple of weeks. The issue you're experiencing may not be caused by that problem, though. You may want to PM either Trevor or myself with your station name so that we can check for anything else that might be causing a problem.

I've been having a similar problem ever since downloading and patching the game after a 2 month break... It happens with all of my chars, even created a new one to see if I could go to Kunark and as soon as it got to loading the zone it boots back to desktop. Everything is up to date. My husband can run Age of Conan/Warcraft on this computer... no idea why EQ2 won't work. Very frustrating!!

Hello. I am experiencing the exact same issue. Oasis server. I get to the loading into zone screen (character or items etc) and then CTD with no error. I hear the music, then 5 seconds or so later nothing but my desktop.

I use Comporium, but can play other online games without a problem.

I am using the returning trial for old players. I started playing the game right out of the gate when it first came out and left b/c of lack of solo content. Giving it another shot for the 2 month trial for returning players etc.

I would like to be able to try to play, but if I can't log in...going to be difficult.

Thanks for any help.

I have a similar problem. I can patch eq2 and launch to character select but when I click play on any of my characters the screen goes black and an error message pops up saying the app has encountered a problem and must close. When I click on the little blue link which gives more details about the probblem it says windows will report the following file which is a temp file that starts with a random alpha numeric number. an example is 22b2_appcompat.txt and the number before the underscore is always different but the appcompat.txt is the same, always. If I'm not mistaken this is some sort of text file. Why a text file would cause eq2 to crash is beyond me but it happens none the less. I guess any kind of file can crash any program if it conflicts enough with the rest of the program. Any way I've gone so far as to uninstall eq2, repatch, do a full file scan etc. to no avail. I've read also that eq2 has been messing with alot of peoples logins by denying access to thier severs from certain IP's. These seem to have been mostly asian IP's and I'm not sure my IP is being denied as I live in Oregon. I've played eq2 since Feb '05 and never ever have had any problems ever with anything so long as my account was paid for and I have been a happy eq2 customer for the length of time I've played. I'm coming off a 6 month hiatus after a move from Arizona and I am using the free returning player promo. It seems alot of folks using this promo are having this problem as the bulk of people I see posting here are using the free pass. Another thing I thought it might be is in the 6 months I've been away I've upped my vid card from a nvidia 6800 to a 8800gts and put in faster memory but can find nothing in the tech forum saying there are any known issues with the 8800 running on XP. After thumbing through this forum I have to assume that it's something on the SOE side as so many people are having similar problems and can only hope the problem is addressed cause I'm itching to see the game with my new vid card as I've previously had to play on the balanced display setting and can't wait to see if I can run on extreme quality now

Anybody getting a 'login rejected' error or an immediate crash to desktop when loading into game should PM either Trevor or myself with your station name. While some of these issues may be completely different, we'd like to eliminate any account problems as a possible cause.

I have posted this elsewhere but I feel it needs a mention here:

I also am (was) a returning player & while I did not have such a long download I was horrified when I eventually got back into game.

All my toons were logged out in GF, I loaded up my highest toon lvl 47 and proceeded to BB, crashed to character screen. Undetered I eventually loaded him back in and went to the griffin tower only to find it missing and a griffin stuck in mid-air! Fortunately the tamer was on the ground so I was able to fly to the docks station, which wasnt there either and so had to fall to the ground

I couple of friends were on and I asked if there were any bugs in BB i should know about but they said not so I proceeded to the docks to get the boat to TS and here came my next shock. The boat came in but didnt meet the dock and no matter how I tried I could not get on the boat, by this time I was in a panic, [Removed for Content] was going on??

I rushed for the other boat that went to NF, i just managed to get on that one but it was a leap of faith that got me on there. The boat set off and I hit the next loading zone and yet again another crash to character screen!!

Taking some advice from my friends i logged off rebooted and did a full scan but to no avail, each zone I went to ended with a crash to character screen, in the end I have uninstalled the game and am too frustrated to try again. It was my understanding that this was supposed to be a 60 day full access trial for returning players but after the hour plus battle I have had with graphical glitches and CTCS I doubt that I will ever return.

My pc is fairly new with Vista and a decent Nvidia card and plays LOTRO like a dream, but a buddy of mine also downloaded today and was having the same trouble so I know it wasnt my machine causing me this grief and his PC is newer than mine!

Ok, I'm on Comcast. Everytime I zone, I lose conectivity and the game indicates that it cannot find the authentication server and I have to quit. Then, when I restart the game, the launcher complains that it cannot reach a server. I usually have to wait several minutes before I can get the game to start again.I experience this as well as my son on our home network. Sometimes he experiences and i don't and visa versa. Tonight, we're both experiencing this. Oddly this only seems to happen in the evenings (or so it appears).Any ideas?UPDATE: Launcher still can't connect. Obviously, I'm online or I couldn't post here. Sometime launcher does connect but when I try to authenticate, it errors saying that the server did not respond.Tracing route to sdkeq2-07-01.everquest2.com [199.108.11.33] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 2 ms 1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1 2 27 ms 49 ms 14 ms 10.179.192.1 3 12 ms 13 ms 26 ms 71-80-70-121.dhcp.kgpt.tn.charter.com [71.80.70.121] 4 20 ms 13 ms 24 ms 24-158-96-226.static.kgpt.tn.charter.com [24.158.96.226] 5 35 ms 57 ms 42 ms 12.86.91.73 6 94 ms 85 ms 83 ms tbr1.attga.ip.att.net [12.122.96.18] 7 80 ms 78 ms 92 ms cr1.attga.ip.att.net [12.122.17.1] 8 79 ms 78 ms 79 ms cr2.dlstx.ip.att.net [12.122.28.174] 9 80 ms 152 ms 82 ms cr1.dlstx.ip.att.net [12.122.1.209] 10 82 ms 87 ms 94 ms cr1.phmaz.ip.att.net [12.122.28.182] 11 82 ms 78 ms 79 ms tbr1.phmaz.ip.att.net [12.122.22.138] 12 79 ms 78 ms 78 ms gbr1.sd2ca.ip.att.net [12.122.2.141] 13 177 ms 78 ms 136 ms gar1.sd2ca.ip.att.net [12.123.145.161] 14 77 ms 77 ms 148 ms mdf1-gsr12-2-pos-7-0.san2.attens.net [12.122.255.206] 15 78 ms 77 ms 77 ms mdf4-bi8k-2-eth-2-2.san2.attens.net [63.241.0.166] 16 85 ms 80 ms 81 ms 63.241.6.50 17 77 ms 84 ms 130 ms sdkeq2-07-01.everquest2.com [199.108.11.33]Trace complete.

Please do not bump topics. There are at least 3 different issues in here, so I am not sure which issue you are speaking of. You can PM myself or Daniel H your station name, and make yous you have the following ports opened. EverQuest II LaunchPad and Patch Servers A TCP connection is initiated to patch.station.sony.com at port 7000. A UDP connection is initiated to port range 3016-3021 and 9700-9703. EverQuest II Patch: A TCP connection is initiated at port 7010. EverQuest II Game Client: UDP connections are initiated from the EverQuest II client on UDP ports 9100, and UDP ports in the range 32800-33000. Additionally, ICMP messages type 0 (echo reply), 3 (unreachable), 8 (echo request) and 11 (expired) should be permitted bi-directionally between the client PC and the EverQuest II servershttp://portforward.com/ should have information on how to make sure these ports are open. You should also power-cycle (unplug power for 20seconds) your modem/router after you patch and cannot connect as well. I can't tell you how many countless calls, I've spent a good 10 mins working on something, and then a simple power-cycle fixed the issue.
