View Full Version : Underwater combat
Hi,Some quick background before my question. I bought EQ2 about 2 or 3 months ago and have slowly been playing it and picking up on its gameplay elements. My current highest character so far is a level 27 bruiser. So far I've managed along well enough for being new to the game, however this is one thing that happened during my latest play session that really had me confused. Since my bruiser does not have a spell for underwater breathing like the healer classes too (<3 my Warden alt even though she's only level 13 ) and as a result I've tried to agro what I want to fight, and then get to the surface so I don't have to worry about drowning. That was all well and good until I attempted The Dark Tides quest in Butcherblock. Since the ritualists that I need to kill are *deep* underwater I didn't really know what to do. When trying to surface, I easily lose a good chunk of my health while they and their pets beat on me. So is there something stupidly obvious that I'm missing about fighting stuff underwater? I've been loving the game otherwise, as it's nice to have something where it doesn't feel like a rush to the level cap.

I believe it's "Totem of the Otter" that can be used for water breathing if you want to go that route (woodworkers make them). Also, when you get up to level a nice item is Hadden's Earring, called I think "Fishbone Earring" that give you a really long water breathing buff.

As Nuhus said, you need totem of the otter (buy them from the broker). When activated it lasts about half an hour and each one has 5 charges. They don't usually cost too much either

Or ask a Necro or a Summoner they can cast an item in your inventory that let you breath for a while under water.

buy the totem from Broker. Its not expensive or get a carpenter to make it for you. I usually keep several on me since I never know when I may need them. also another good totem to have is to increase speed ans well as to go invisible. Those three totems are a must to have in your inventory when venturing.

Totems are actually made by Woodworkers, mostly. The Otter Totem is a teens recipe and can be made by any Craftsman [Carpenter, Woodworker or Provisioner.]
Thanks much for the advice everyone! I'll look into getting some of those totems the next time I know I'll be heading to the water!

I cant remember what its real name is though.
