i am looking for the setting to show the name above the mobs from a further distance. As it is now most mobs agro before i see the name above there heads. the rendering distance of the mob is ok i just cant see the names above there heads. I play on pvp server and see the names of other players and opponents from a further distance away, about 4 times the distance of mobs. I can also mouse over the mob from a distance and see there name from a great distance away just fine.

I think its "show npc names" set to always. Then it fades out at a distance. However we dont have any control over the distance that it fades out at.

That isn't the setting. I have been searching for this as well and cannot find it. It is annoying that you have to mouse over every mob as you are running across an area to see if they will aggro. And then, you have to squint to see that red highlighting on their name. I personally would like a new system so that I could see them in the distance without using my mouse and I could see that they would aggro without that hard to see red glow.

I have had a look through the settings, and cant see one for this.I don't mouseover though, I tab round the mobs in a zone, cos you can tab round everything viewable on your screen, so if you are zoomed out, you can get right to the back and see what is out there. (also handy when node hunting)Also helps with reading the nametags cos you dont have to squint because it comes up as your target, so much easier to read.

Well, at least pushing a key is easier than using the mouse. I tried using /target_nearest_npc and it doesn't differentiate between mobs and logs/bushes/rocks, or between things in front of me and things behind me. It is so frustrating when I am fighting. Is there a command to target the nearest mob that is in front of me?
