I'm running a 4gb ram/8800 GT/2.2gig dual core intel processor.Game runs GREAT.. then..after a while (and no HD activity I should add), my FPS goes from like 35-50dps to 9-12fps..for 15-20 seconds... (NORMALLY only when in battle)... Then, it returns to normal.I've tried everything from Exteeme performance to high quality and back... It doesn't seem to matter.WHY does it do this? I doesn't appear to be related to the environment, the number of people, nothing.. it just DROPS to crap performance, and after a while...clears up... then back down again.I've measured CPU utilization..nothing over 50%. Memory? 1-1.2gig in use, plenty free. HD activity is nill, not even being hit. Ping is ~80-120.Basically, everything looks "normal", but it just starts chugging like a frat boy at a kegger...then passes out, recovers, and is back to normal.Any ideas?? -- Coz

Ha, nice analogy. Lets start off by getting some system information. Please run the dxdiag/msinfo tests at the following link and post the results.http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=353617

Unfortunately, the utility linked does not support GeForce Go 7900 GTX. However, I thought i'd give it a *go* anyway. As expected, the utility failed to recognize anything to update.

So, I went to the Alienware site:

http://support.alienware.com/Suppor...9&item=1093

The best I could find on their list was a driver dated 8/7/2006. I tried it for a while, but the same problem continued to happen.

I'm really at a loss. It makes it impossible to play because I never know when the lag-bomb is going to drop.

Greetings,It could be a background application that is eating your memory periodically. You may want to try disabling those applications at start up to see if there is any improvement. To disable background programs:1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again. If you are still experiencing the same issue, please reply back.
