I've played swash, monk and brig to endgame and have mythical on brig. Am thinking about trying a plate tank/fighter. I'm not sure I like guards. So before investing a hugh amount of time, a couple qs:

1. How high can a level 80 berzerker parse nowadays with epic weapon, the best dps AAs and decent buffs in an ROK instance? How about as OT with good buffs in a raid?

2. I gather from this board that berzerker has big "no snap aggro" problems as OT. I presume this is essentially the same problem facing brawlers who OT. If not, would very much appreciate explanation. Thanks.

3. Are endgamer berzerker tanks sitting up around 60+ when group buffed on both mit and avoid?

too many variables but i'l give a ballpark anyways.

1) 6k for solo mobs, ~10k+ for multiples. (these are high end figures, some which i see very rarely and possibly even higher for some players/raids)

2) brawlers(monk) have one of the best snap aggro abilities in Peel/Tsunami, but it has a fairly long recast so they are only decent tanks 1/5th of the time. snap aggro is one of the biggest issues with zerks in this expansion and one which many will agree that we sorely need.

3) easily, even offensive in the MT group i sit over 60% avoidance but i really don't pay a lot of attention to mitigation figures but at over 50% solo in average gear i don't see 60% a problem.

Hi Lyger. Just wondering from note above how exactly one can get dps that high. Am nearing level 80 but my but my zerker is not anywhere near that league yet. I presume the figures above are for short bursts, maybe on trash mobs in raids where the raid can take the mob down very quickly (the bone golems in soh, for instance.) Not yet at full strength on my zerker, but am in the 2- 2.5 k range on the training wall when self buffs are up and I use them. Can get in the 3 or 4 k range on non heroics with tiny hp levels if done, but again these are really short encounters. All in all, my zerker has about 40% the dps of my brig, but I've been playing the brig for years. (CA sequence is extremely impt for brigs btw.)

So, what CA's do you use and when???? Do you time CAs like swashes do? thanks very much for whatever advice you can give.

CAs have little to do with it, it's about gear and buffs.

most of the time i'm capped or near cap for:

strength- 1000-1200+ depending on group

haste- starts out around 120ish and spikes up to 250+

DPS mod- generally sits around 100-120 or so

CA mod- this one needs some work but it's usually around 320ish+

crit- generally i start out at 65% entering a fight and it spikes to 107% during a fight(juggernaut 27% mythical 15%)

double attack- entering a fight it's at 85% by the end of a fight it's at 95%(i can go either way with gear to be over 100% in crit or DA or both at the same time)

the mythical helps with alot of those figures but casting order of CAs does little aside from your haste and crit modifier abilities and proccing damage that can be buffed prior such as bind wound and turmoil/weapon counter.

i just don't see the numbers inflating much more though unless i can manage to find more procs from group buffs, i'm already running the line of being maxxed in everything so there isn't much room to move up anymore. not a huge fan of being over 100% in any aspect at any point in time but i guess that's just how it will be to get anything more out of this class. my gear isn't even that great compared to some endgame zerks, it will just be that much more of a balancing act to get more DPS out of it.

note those figures are while tanking to keep your proc rate either on or high.

Lyger has me beat but I just got my Mythical on Saturday and not all of our guild has them so I am missing some raid wide chimes of blades etc.... and I was in OT group not DPS.I was seeing up to 5k in PR... BUT that was on the triple mob encounters... normal was about 4k I think... I still need to re-think my combat style because mythical has some impact on auto attack damage vs CAs... so I am sure it will go up in a week or 2 without any other influences.I am not sure how high it goes on the big 2nd to last fight with Meldrath etc... it was high for spurts of 3 seconds... the amount of time I could stay alive.... I think I ended with 2,500 DPS while dying 5 times... so it COULD have been real high if I had more "seasoned" healers... but I only had 2 healers and they were new to the guild as of last week. It's also one of those times I think my DPS would have been higher in defensive mode wearing more of my tanking gear... I was in offensive with all my DPS stuff on... it's plate but it has way less +Def and +Parry in favor of + crit and + Dbl.

on the expedition in PR i usually run around 4-5k or so but i really don't even pay attention anymore, not as great as you would think but thats mainly because i keep my temporary mit and defense buffs up which hurt DPS since i usually am MTing the zone, as well i don't run juggernautt but i stay fully offensive otherwise. on big fights i try to make sure to get in as many autos as possible on multi mob encounters.

thanks guys. from Lyger's post above, it seems I may be most lacking in crit %. will work on that. I think I'm around 45% with potion solo. I imagine L's 65% starting crit % is composed of: about 50-55% from AA tree and gear, about 4-7% from potion and temporary weapon crit buff, and the rest from bard. If I'm guessing wrong, pls let me know. I may be missing crit+ opportunities.

22% melee crit from Str3

4% (absolution pauldrons from VP)

5% (honorbound vambraces from PR)

3% (legguards of the Invincible from Kor'sha)

3% (tramplers boots from PR)

3% (dragon bone belt from Kor'sha)

5% (ganaks torque from vaults)

2% (droag talon plugs from KJ solo quests)

2% (bangle of thuuga from KP solo quests)

2% (reet eye ring from KJ solo quests iirc)

2% (wristwraps of the culinary apprentice from veeshans feast heroic in KP docks includes chelsith)

2% (tynonnium shackle from heroics in tabernacle of pain in KJ)

2% (satchel of lifebending from Dominus Attrebe in KP)

2% (ryzilk's feather cloak from KJ solo quests)

my display shows 62% base crit chance solo buffed with all this equipped, not sure where i missed the 3% but close enough. add 4% from a potion that takes you to 66% crit standing there, add 15% crit from the mythical 30 seconds out of a minute which takes you to 81% crit solo buffed. now add group buffs, dirge adds 10% crit taking you to 91% crit and then add in juggernaut which adds 27% crit for 32 seconds every 2:41 which will spike you up to 118% crit during spikes.

as you can see, that is just stupid overkill, i generally lean a little more towards defensive gear, though my parses hurt now and then when i don't get a series of triggers and crit stays lower in it's range. dps bounces around a bit due to procs but what are you gonna do except cap them out 100% of the time.. then one of our best self buffs (juggernaut) is useless, even though the mit debuff sucks. those are all figures if i stack on my DPS gear, which i usually don't bother with anymore since it cuts into survivability for maybe a 5% gain to DPS.

If you have all those crit items, your str won't be anywhere near 1000 since the solo quest rewards don;t have raid level stats bonuses.

I have instance and some PR gear and my strength isn't even 700 self-buffed. To answer the OP's question from a casual player's perspective, with my fabled epic and limited attack buffs I deliver 2k+ in instances and 1500ish in PR on single mobs. If I tank in PR/SoH trash with all associated buffs, my dps is equal to our guardian's 2200-2300dps and he has better gear (torque and mantle, for example). He has 2,000 more hit points, though, and he is NOT buckler specced. He claims his parse tests had STR-AGI-INT with Tower equal to his buckler spec (SoH buckler). I have VG and he doesn't.

i wouldn't say that, most of those are items i normally wear and i am always around 850 base strength before even using a potion, solo buffed.

The 3% base crit you missed was probably the 30 minute temporary weap adorn. Here is mineAA Spec

22% melee crit from Str3 - AA

GEAR

3% (Harbringer of Malcontent from PoH) - SHIELD

5% (honorbound vambraces from PR) - FOREARM

3% (tramplers boots from PR) - FEET

2% (Baldric of the DiZok Warlord from Chokadai Collar Collection) - WAIST

2% (droag talon plugs from KJ solo quests) - EAR #1

4% (Talisman of Thugga from KP solo quests) - NECK

2% (Nax Ring of Precision solo quest KJ) - FINGER #1

2% (reet eye ring from KJ solo quests iirc) - FINGER #2

2% (wristwraps of the culinary apprentice from veeshans feast heroic in KP docks includes chelsith) - WRIST #1

2% (tynonnium shackle from heroics in tabernacle of pain in KJ) - WRIST #2

2% (Snake Eye's Raptor Hide Cloak from KJ solo quests) - CLOAK

Adornments

2% (Shield Adornment)

Short duration consumables

4% Potion - Temporary Buff

3% Short Duration Weapon Adornment

Procs

15% Crit Proc on Mythical

53% standing still... 60% with temporary consumable buffs... 75% with Mythical swinging.I might have left something off... I am going by eq2players info and what I remember not looking at my toon.I try and keep a good mix of crit and double attack so standing still I think I am 86% double attack with Mythical procing taking me to 96%.. because of this and Fortisimo... there are 2 pieces of gear I am thinking of swapping from Double Attack to Crit so that on raids when with a dirge with Fortissmo and DKTM I would not be tossing percentage points in the garbage.I also have good chunk of haste (51%? standing still 112% when swinging?), DPS (53%? Standing still 85% swinging?), and combat art damage modifiers (+320).This is all ungrouped but in full offensive gear and AA spec, stances etc.And then of course 100% auto attack AoE ;-p

I only respec if I have advance notice.I have some gear that also boosts +DEF +PARRY and +MIT that I made a 2nd macro for gear out of so I can go full tank mode... but I hate doing it because my aggro goes to hell.I am thinking of making a 3rd macro with a slightly better mix... for those times where I need more survivability but don't need to sacrifice too much... don't get me wrong.. it's all high MIT plate... it's just getting +DEF and + CRIT on the same item is not common.
