I have started a new toon, a Wizard, now lvl 14 and loving it. Awesome single target nukes

My question on the AA lines are - what to go for first? I thought INT would be the way but looking at them more closly I don't think think that would be the best use of the AA's. I was thinking STR or STA but then the Coercer AA's look good as well... HELP ! Any advice from some peeps that have played a Wizard would be REALLY appreciated.

Cheers & Thanks

WIS first and foremost. Lessee, 4-4-8-6; and then I think I took AGI line. Latest of all, after you get the extra AA points go down the INT line.

It really depends on what you're going for. Max dps? Soloing? Grouping with some utility?

I don't have a wizard so I don't know their actual "wizard tree" but I have a warlock, so I can tell you about the "sorceror side."

Personally, I have the following setup on the sorceror side -- I am set up for "max dps."

STR 4-4-4-8 -- This maxes crit %

WIS 4-7-4-8-2 --This gives a 1x per minutes 24% spell damage boost, and a 4% base damage boost, plus makes all your spells cost 12% less power.

AGI 4-4-6-8-2 -- This reduces cast and recast time. This line is actually not terribly useful until you can get the last 2 bubbles on it, so for this one, I suggest putting point elsewhere and then once you have enough re-specing to this line.

*****

the following are my opinions -- some will probably argue them.

INT line sucks. If you need the de-aggros from this line, you either a) need to learn how not to overnuke or b) need to get a better tank. It has no use soloing, and a raid wants all the dps you can get from the other lines -- they'll have troubie and illusionist dehate on you in a raid anyway. And in a group you can just adjust your nuking so as to not exceed the tank's ability to keep aggro. INT line = useless in all situations.

STA line is actually awesome for soloing, but is of limited use otherwise. Personally, I just root/nuke mobs when I'm soloing and trust my higher dps spec to burn it down rather than the STA line's ability to allow me to take hits a little better.

And I do know 1 thing from your WIZ tree -- if you want a nice huge damage number on occasion, go for Manaburn. If you want better sustained dps over the course of an instance/dungeon don't even think about it -- it actually reduces your overall dps, and annoys your groupmates since they have to wait for your power to rebuild after using it. And no raiding force worth its salt would ever let you use it since a) it means you were holding back to save mana for it and b) it draws aggro and no raid wants aggro anywhere except on the MT. When soloing, it might save your tushie as a "last gasp effort" but that's really the only time it's useful.

Just go to, lessee, in Qeynos it'd be the Mage tower. In the same area as the Wiz trainer is an npc that you can get re-spec from. The first one is free and after that you pay; think the first pay one is 1g and each month it resets so if you wait a month then 1g again. If you do more than once a month it'll cost you more each time.Other areas have a similar set-up. I just dunno where/what to call them.

Just go to the same bldg where you get your Wizard Trainer. There's a person in that bldg that does the same as the one in Qeynos. Remember, there are 3 floors to that bldg. Don't remember where the npc is but there is one there.

If you go to the class discussion boards here there is a nice sticky "The Way of the Wizard" where someone gives what they think are good AA set ups for solo, group and raid. The person even explained the whys very informative
