This is a loose collection of stories about a Koada'Dal troubador named Inoso Autumnfall, hailing from the lands of Venekor. Some excerpts are from his journal, the rest are accounts made from a froglok illusionist as she followed the bard during his ventures.

Inoso strode carefully upon the streets of Castleview Hamlet, running a hand through his light, blonde hair, tugging at a few of the already-silvering streaks. The sun had long since set across the land, and it made finding his way around even more difficult, since he was very close to becoming 100% blind. The incident that had caused it haunted his past and his nightmares for a very long time, and though many, many years had passed, it just wouldn't go away. He paced back and forth in front of the inn, muttering about how late a certain froglok was. He paused for a moment, stilling his breathing as he glanced around and listened."I... finally found you..."A soft voice came from the shadows, and from the shadows stepped a bedraggled figure with torn robes. The moonlight revealed the figure to be a horribly thin and sickly Tier'Dal female. Her black hair was very filthy, bits of it missing, and her violet eyes barely had any life in them. She stumbled forward, smiling weakly as she approached Inoso, who backed away."I've been.. searching my entire life... where have you been.. my love?"She reached out to grasp his arm, but he yanked it away and narrowed his gaze."Hoping to stay away from you, thus preventing you more harm.""Why can't you see.. that we.. were meant to be?! Why won't you return my love?!"She wailed and sank to the ground, her voice caught in pitiful sobs. Inoso sighed, rubbing his temples. Somehow he knew she would come back to find him. And yet he never prepared for her return."I don't love you, I never did. You tried to... defile me against my will. You fell in love with me, but I never fell in love with you. It was you that caused harm to us both."He sighed as she began wailing again, yelling cries of 'I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt you' and the like. His mind ran back to the time he spent in a living nightmare, despite his efforts to prevent that. He saw the young, beautiful noble's daughter, watching him every time he practiced his music. She was beautiful, but her bratty nature quickly let itself be known, and beauty turned to ugly. She never really did anything else but watch him in his holding cell at night as he slept, or watch him any time he went anywhere. Each time he played his instruments and sang, she would swoon and faint, and have to be carried off by the guards. Eventually, as he got older, he knew that the poor child was in love with him. As time went by, she could barely contain herself around him, and one night, she almost got what she wanted. Because of her actions, she was stripped of her nobility title, her house name, and tossed out onto the streets with nothing but the robes on her back. Inoso, however, wasn't so lucky. The female had always commented about how beautiful Inoso's eyes were, and that is what her father attacked with his Hate-filled hands. Inoso's mind rushed back to the present, and he knelt beside the female, who was still sobbing."I stand by my word, but you must see a healer. As much as I dislike your kind, nobody deserves to be in the condition you are in."The Tier'Dal looked up at him, her boney face soaked with tears."At least... I got to see.. you... one last.... time...."Inoso blinked once, and she was gone. He stood there with her body in his hands, unsure of what to do. He closed his eyes, and let a few tears fall from his face. Perhaps it was guilt that he was feeling... but being guilty over insanity? His thoughts were disrupted by Senanu, who appeared in the doorway in her night-robes."Oi.. wat's all tha rack- OI!"She yelped and pointed at the body of the Tier'Dal that Inoso was holding, and he glanced at Senanu."She followed me...""Oi.. that ain't good... if tha guards find ye...""Then you can extract my memory and project it for them as proof that nothing happened."Senanu muttered for a bit."I just don't get it. Back.. 'home,' ye was always tellin' me how great it would be ta fall in love and find yerself a wife, why didn't ye pick her?"Inoso sighed and lay the body on the ground, then stood back up."Because... her love was insanity. We both would have suffered greatly if I was able to allow myself to accept her love. I never wished her harm, and yet it came to her in the end."Senanu nodded, and reached behind the open doorway and pulled out a shovel."Well... ye've got explainin' ta do, ye know.""I know. I will go inform the guards immediately.... what's with the shovel?"Senanu blinked and tossed it aside, grinning."Nothin'... just thought ye'd take care o' it a different way...""You should know me by now."Senanu sat down and watched the body, scrunching up her face and poking it with a stick as Inoso walked off towards the nearest guard station.

Very nice story. That goes to show that being a musician that makes women swoon isn't always a good thing. And for some reason I think that Senanu is from an evil race. Though the way she talks it is hard to place a finger on what race...

Why'd you have to go and let it dieWhy'd you have to go and let it die...Inoso sighed with relief as he plopped down onto the cold stone of the Butcherblock Docks, the night's tavern visit still running around in his head. Senanu poked him in the back with her staff, and grinned at him as he turned around."What?""Well?""Well what?""Didja like 'em?""Heh.. they are an entertaining bunch, to be sure.""Thar be lots o' available women, too.."Inoso blinked."Err.. what?""Well, ye've been lookin' fer a wife n' all..."She grinned as Inoso sighed."It's not as simple as you think. Besides, that Kakartiz fellow seemed to take a liking to you, and based on your reactions, you seem to fancy him as well."Senanu scoffed."BAH! Ain't no man gettin' me!"Inoso grinned and turned his blank gaze out over the ocean, taking in the sounds and the smells around him. His thoughts had dwindled for a while on the show the Champions had put on at the tavern, and he was happy to have played for a not-so-threatening audience for once. He remebered the sounds of happiness, and the overwhelming stench of ale. Senanu had helped him to see what was going on, and thankfully, didn't do so at a few, odd points."So, when 'r ye gonna ask someone out on a date?""I wouldn't know. I do not know how to court someone. I see many beautiful women, but it is the personality that is key. I do not let myself run wild simply on looks alone."Senanu shrugged and poked him again until Inoso stood up and moved away. His fingers twitched with the rhythms he had previously played on his lute, the adrenaline rush from playing so fast and hard still coursing throughout his veins."Maybe next time I should start out slow."He chuckled and went on his way, leaving Senanu behind to deal with a prodding Freeportian.

Why has the sky turned greyHard to my face and cold on my shoulderAnd why has my life gone astrayScarred by disgrace, I know that its overBecause I'm falling downWith people standing roundBut before I hit the groundIs there timeCould I find someone out there to help me?Inoso smiled as he passed through Kelethin and into his new home, Senanu tagging along by his side."Alrighty.. so I just gotta find ye a nice High Elfy lady fer ye.. wat about-""No. I will respect her decision."Inoso looked somewhat sternly at Senanu, who cringed."Oi... wat?""I would appreciate it if you would kindly stop trying to find a partner for me. In time, I will find one or not. That is my fate.""Mmk, then we gotta see if ye want ennyone...""I do not want. That is most unbecoming."He strode off quickly, leaving Senanu behind as he entered his inn room and locked the door behind him. He was slightly irritated at Senanu for harassing him, perhaps he should have just kept his mouth shut over the years. He picked up a book and started to flip through it, attempting to focus the blurry image he was receiving. He knew that his eyes would never become fully healed, and it was wonderful to see more than what he was able to before. But the healer had told him that he could do no more for his eyes, and Inoso had to live with it. Inoso was disappointed that he was never going to be able to see the world as clearly as he once did, but was thankful for the meager sight he had been given. After a while of painful focusing, he was able to make out the words on the page, and started to read quietly.

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blueI could not foresee this thing happening to you...Inoso had fallen asleep on his bed, the book resting in his lap. A sharp knock on his door jolted him out of his sleep. Rubbing his eyes, he moved to open the door. SUddenly, the door came toppling down on top of him. He struggled to move, only to find out that a massive ogre was pinning him down. A dark voice chuckled from behind the beast."Well well... so glad I finally managed to track you down. You have done much to destroy my family, you know."Inoso struggled to see who it was, but his voice was all too familiar."You...""Master, I would prefer. Of course, you don't call me that anymore, now do you?"A tall, thin Tier'Dal appeared from behind the ogre, his thick black hair drawn in a ponytail. His fierce blue eyes pierced into Inoso's, and Inoso could practically smell the hatred coming off of him."When my daughter acted, it began the end of my house. My house that I have worked so hard to keep in order for the past several hundred years. When my men captured you and brought you in, you were to be a slave and follow my direct commands. Only the gods knew that my daughter would do such a forbidden act, and bring ruin to us all. Now, my family is nothing, all because of you!"The Tier'Dal struck Inoso's face with a talon-like hand, leaving five, deep, burning gashes in his face. Inoso cringed and gasped in pain as he felt the blood trickle down his face. The Tier'Dal regained his composure and motioned to the ogre."Finish him."

Hehe. Senanu looks like Inoso's loyal companion. Always trying to make her friend happy. Although she doesn't seem to understand Inoso much. And, ouch, seems like Inoso got in a hard spot. I wonder how he will get out of that...

I know I can stop the pain if I will it all awayIf I will it all away...Senanu hopped happily through Kelethin, a small parchment in her hand, an address appeared to be scribbled on it."He'll like this one.. once he sees how pretty she be.. yeesh! Fall in love, finally. Oi.. wat.."She came upon the inn, where a large crowd had gathered. The various inhabitants were muttering amongst themselves. Senanu frowned and poked at the closest person with her staff."Oi.. wat's goin' on here?""There has been an attack. Nobody knows anything about it.""An attack? Oi.. I don't like tha sounds o' this..."She pushed and shoved her way through the crowd, poking and prodding with her staff and occasionally forcing them to move with her mind. She counted down the doors, and her heart sank as she found the last one on the right, its door completely shattered into pieces. It was Inoso's inn room. A feeling of dread washed over Senanu, and something told her to not look in the room. But, she did anyways.Crumpled in a corner was the limp body of Inoso, is body covered in blood, and limbs broken in several places. Senanu's eyes widen and she cried out. She could barely contain her emotions as her mind searched the world for those who had harmed Inoso... and the ogre and the Tier'Dal were found later, dead, their minds filled with such horrible images that they went insane and killed each other.Senanu carefully dragged Inoso to his bed, setting him on it and began to attend to his wounds.

The following is an account of the aftermath made by Dejenchri Seamstress.

In her despair and sadness Dejenchri hears Senanu's voice cut through.

‘Oh, will ye just shaddap... I needs me a healer, Inoso's been attacked'

She barely registers that Inoso was injured and then it sinks in and she runs from her chair, anger inflaming her, turning her eyes to a dark green.

She can see Virtue and Nescia still angry with each other, each blaming the other for this last, final permanent split. They are still throwing words at each other like weapons as Tunarius crashes through the door to the Hall and she realizes that Tunaria had to have left already.

She hesitates, seeing the man the loves and the man she has become fond of as a brother fight, eyes still streaming tears, even over her concern for Inoso. In the time she waits, Tunarias comes back in carrying a bloody, battered and broken Inoso.

Dejenchri is stunned by the brutality of his condition, recognizing the kind of damage done to him and amazed that he even lives still! She hasn't seen that type of damage since she'd left Neriak. This was deliberately inflicted. She realizes that Virtue and Nescia are no longer arguing, yet around Inoso now on a soft pallet both trying to heal the bards wounds. She cools the air around the three as they work to stem the blood loss and give them a little bit more time.

She can feel the anger rise in her, the hatred of Nescia's race and tries to fight it down as the Human Paladin and the Teir'Dal Fury work side by side, their argument forgotten by this savage attack until only five claw marks remain on Inoso's face. Claw marks dark with Hate that she can SEE, that she KNOWS.

She watches the man she loves wince.

"Those marks come from one who follows a dark God...Innoruuk, or Cazic-Thule." Virtue says to Nescia.

She nods, knowing just what those scars are, remembering the ones on her back that are now on Nescia's arm. She watches as Nescia nods and sees the comprehension in his face and knows what she must do, for this new assult would leave Inoso damaged beyond any ability to heal from, to find love. These scars would leave him tainted ground for all time and she would not have that for ANY Koada'Dal.

"These... markings on his face..." he starts.

Dejenchri interrupts him.

"I can ... thee can do it. I wilt not mind." She states simply to the Teir'Dal, knowing he would understand her words only too well, and would fight her decision. He pulls back his sleeve, showing the black, angry traceries of scarring on his arm, seeing the pattern of them. She shakes her head at him.

"Thee will do it my friend. Thee can not take HIS too."

Nescia looks up and says "These are...... no normal wounds"

"Is there a way I might aid you in this endeavor sir? To bolster thy constitution that you do not perish from such wounds?" Virtue says to Nescia, making Dej's heart soar with pride for him, making her decision even harder, yet her eyes darken farther with her resolve. She can hear Senanu whimpering in the background and Tunaria's soothing tones, yet only one thing matters ... that that Touch be removed from the so far untainted Koada'Dal.

"Nescia...you WILL do what needs to be done. I have felt the taint, lived with it for so long ... I can bear it again." She says quiety.

Nescia looks to Virtue.

"I do not know Paladin.... I am.... still in search to remove mine and Dejenchri's" and then looks at Dej, the unwillingness to do what she asks clear in his face. "Dejenchri... they are mine now"

Still looking at Inoso and the black taint of the Fathers Touch, writhing in the flesh of the bard she speaks quietly, yet for all to hear.

"Virtue, he did transfer much of the taint in my scars to him. Nescia, thee can do the same for Inoso, yet put them within me."

She can hear Virtue telling Nescia something, yet truly can't hear it over the roar of the blood in her ears. She had been free from the pain of her scars, of that Touch and was terrified, yet ...

"Thee knows the Father has touched me deeply." She says to Nescia again, eyes still troubled and concern for one of her Race etched deeply in her face.

It is only Senanu's whimper, such an unsual thing from her that shocks her into looking away from Inoso.

"..I made 'em pay..." she says and Dej somehow understands just what it is the Illusionist refers to. She barely registers that Nescia, Virtue and Tunare have all spoken.

She looks at Senenu, "Are they dead? If not, they wilt be." She swears.

"....They be dead..."

"Good they deserved it." Comes from Tunaria. A slight smile plays on Dej's face at the matter of factness of Tunaria and she echos her.

"Good." She says nodding, "If not, I would track them to Neriak itself for this travesty."

"And that is a bad thing? They obviously were of some power and skill to come to this city and do this. " Virtue tells Senanu

"it be bad enough that their allied houses will come track us both down...." Senanu tries to continue. Dejenchri turns back to Inoso and Nescia.

"My friend, thee must put his taint into me..thee knows my body wilt accept it."

Nescia picks up Inoso and places him to rest on a nearby sofa.

Still looking at Inoso, the Koada'Dal grins viciously and nods, "Let them Senanu."

"Senanu...who exactly did this?" comes the quiet voice of Tunaria.

"Oh..I know who did, do I not Senanu?" she speaks at the same time as the Illusionist.

"....Baaaaaad people.... ones who.. who... yar.... ye know, Dejenchri.."

"Well I don't so i have to ask" she says as she scowls frustratedly.

She watches as her friend comes to a decision and shakes his head.

"I cannot, I will not" he says quietly.

"Are you saying a Tier'Dal household is responsible? What could the Bard possibly have done to earn the ire of a Dark Family? He is barely ..." and then silence as Virtue realizes what Dej truly meant.

"Thee can ... an thee will. HE wilt not be able to bear that taint." She says quietly to her friend and then turns her face towards Virtue. "He was abducted as a babe Virtue. He had no choice."

She can hear Nescia's voice in her head telling her that they weren't as bad as her own scars and she knows the truth of that, yet still...

‘Thee knows not what he hath already suffered. Those wilt ... destroy his soul.' She whispers in return.

"QUIT!!!" Nescia says loudly "Dejenchri here now!"

The Elf walks to Inoso and her friend, "I am firm in this my friend."

"Virtue back, you do not wish to be near this" Nescia warns Virtue, who steps back and watches Nescia.

"If you say."

Feeling herself give in to the inevitable, she gazes softly at the man she loves.

"I was tainted far more than any here could ever understand." She feels Nescia's hand on her back and her voice drops to a whisper, barely heard. "Save Inoso or Senanu."

And she tries to not scream in pain as she feels THAT touch consume her once again, settle into her again. She feels her world tear itself apart as the familiar pain returns to her back, eyes black and open, but unseeing. She can only hear the faint laughter of the Father echoing in her ears as she's pulled into herself, not realizing that she has crumpled to the ground, unconscious.

Her mind is pulled back to Freeport and when she first felt this Touch lash out at her. She's in chains again, feeling the lash on her back, the lash that was infused with Hate to leave permanent scars that would hurt for the rest of her life. A tall Teir'Dal gloating at her, knowing she'll do anything to keep her family safe, even suffer his touch. The elf's eyes filled with Hate as she tries to fight the feeling, trying to keep from succumbing to that Hate the enters her with each flick of the lash, changing her farther and farther from who she used to be, eyes becoming black on black. She closes her eyes as he finishes, knowing what was coming next. She feels the touch of his hand upon her back, his words in her ears and then what came next as she cries, only feeding the Hate in her and in him and wishing she could feel the Mother's touch again.

I took a walk around the worldTo ease my troubled mindI left my body lying somewhereIn the sands of timeI watched the world float to the dark side of the moon...And I feel there's nothing I can do..."Inbar phor, dos rothe!"(Get up, you slave)Inoso opened his eyes abruptly from the dream he was having, and looked up into the face of an angry Tier'Dal."Siyo, ush'akal.."(Yes, sir)The young Inoso quickly climbed to his feet as the Tier'Dal unlocked the door to his cell. He prodded the young Koada'Dal along with a sharp spear, causing Inoso to wince every time he slowed down a bit. As they passed by the Grand Hall, Inoso overheard a conversation."...dosst ser'lech orn naut tlu shinder, Enslin!"(Your stupidity will not be allowed)A shaking Tier'Dal voice replied carefully; he must be Enslin." Usstan... Usstan tlun taudl, ussta senger, ol orn naut sha'nalt 'sohna... Usstan swariy-"(I... I am sorry, my lord, it will not happen again, I swear) "Venorsh, dos wael, lu'ragar nindel olog nin!"(Silence, you fool, and find that troll now)"Siyo, ussta senger...."(Yes, my lord)A lanky Tier'Dal hurried out of the Grand Hall and nearly ran the slavemaster and the boy over. No words were spoken as they continued to travel along a series of corridors, though Inoso already knew where they were going. They entered a vast chamber, situated almost like an arena, and the spectators were all Tier'Dal. A throne stood in the main box, an elderly, vicious-looking Tier'Dal male residing in it."Sila l'wiu fotus."(Bring the boy forth)The slavemaster shoved Inoso forward, and he landed on his knees. The Tier'Dal carefully placed his fingers on the banister and arose, staring into Inoso's eyes with pure hatred."Do you know why you are here, fodder..."Inoso sat up straight and looked back at the elder, not showing any sign of fear."Yes, my lord, I do.""Then perhaps you would explain to the members of the great Houses L'Hintu, N'Oshtek, and S'Tarith?""Yes, my lord, I shall. Your daughter, Nemai, fell in love with me, but I did not return it. She tried to... uh... give her flower to me two nights ago against the will of the great house L'Hintu, against the teachings of the Father, Innoruuk, and the great Lord Jiktna, ruler of House L'Hintu."Inoso was pleased with himself that he chose over his words carefully, thus earning him less punishment. But he knew that he could not escape it. Lord Jiktna nodded and whirled away from his throne, moments later entering the ring, clutching his daughter, Nemai, by the hair and dragging her along as she kicked and screamed."Nemai, you have performed an action most foul, one that shall forever shame this great House for all eternity, and earn disfavor from the Father, Innoruuk. From this day forward... I hereby strip you of your House title, ban you from ever entering another Tier'Dal House again, and you will no longer be called my daughter. Throw her outside, leave her with nothing."He nodded to the guards, who dragged the wailing girl out the door."And as for you, boy..."Inoso looked up into the twisted face of Lord Jiktna L'Hintu. At a first glance, he appeared to be a frail, old man, but he had served as a High Priest in the temple of Innoruuk for many, many years, and was never to be underestimated. A twisted smile creeped across his wrinkled face as he looked into Inoso's eyes deeply."The Exile often spoke about your eyes... it is time to fix that."Inoso stared in horror as Lord Jiktna withdrew his withered hand from his robes, and struck Inoso's eyes. The pain was terrible as his vision was clouded by the taint of Innoruuk... and then... it stopped. The pain vanished, and Inoso blinked, opening his eyes...Inoso found himself on a couch, and the first thing he saw was Nescia and Dejenchri on the ground, Nescia clutching his arm, and Dejenchri had fallen unconscious. But something was wrong... everything was too... clear? His brain soon registered all that has happened... the assault on him by Lord Jiktna, Senanu coaxing him inside his head to wake up, to be alright, to just breathe and be alive. Then the pain came. It wasn't much, but it was still felt. He found that he could move, and glanced down at his body, which was no longer broken and bloodied. He glanced about the room at all the familiar faces, actually getting to see them for the first time... being able to actually SEE for the first time in hundreds of years. He was overwhelmed with joy, but as Senanu relayed to him what happened, the joy quickly washed away. Nescia and Dejenchri had saved his tormented soul, but not without a cost. The evening flew by quickly as people argued and recovered, discussing some adventure into the Feerott to visit Cazic Thule to eliminate some taint, but Inoso's mind was struggling against itself... later on, he believed that Senanu had a hand in that. He remembered singing a song, and having Tunaria shove soup down his throat to help him recover. Later, he found that Dejenchri had told Nescia to transfer the taint in the fresh wound Lord Jiktna left before he was beaten senseless into the scars upon her back, to save Inoso's soul so he could have a chance at a normal life amongst the Koada'Dal. As much as he protested against it, he knew there was no changing her mind. He was free... but at what cost? He felt that he had caused more harm than good, and could not help but feel guilty. He felt... odd... not having the scars around his eyes, not feeling the twist and pull of Innoruuk anymore. In a sense, he felt naked, having lived with it for so long. And whether Dejenchri liked it or not, he was indebted to her for her sacrifice. After things calmed down, he dragged a bedroll into Senanu's house in Castleview Hamlet and spent the night under her care and protection.Little did they know that a trolless was watching...

Inoso muttered as Senanu was tagging along behind him, bugging him about his love life, as usual."Oi, are ye sure yer not gonna ask someone?""I have told you many, many times before, I will respect her decision. I will not ask. But, I continue to ask of you to stop pestering me about my personal life.""Alright, alright...""Has... Drexia contacted you again?""Nope, but she's been watchin'.""And you're still not going to undo her curse, are you?""I can't. Its gotta undo itself. She's gotta be more nice n' such, an' poof, she be a blueberry like she once was, instead o' a troll."Inoso smirked as she went babbling on. He remembered Drexia, and most of House S'Tarith when House L'Hintu and House S'Tarith met. Drexia was perhaps the worst Tier'Dal he had ever seen. She was the embodiment of evil, and nobody seemed to enjoy being around her. It was also when he first met Senanu. Drexia despised Senanu most of all, and it was evident. That's when Senanu established a mental link with Inoso, and their friendship started."Oi.""Eh?"Inoso snapped out of his thoughts and turned around, blinking several times as a quite bald Koada'Dal female stood in Senanu's place."Yer lot be too big."Senanu chuckled and changed back to her normal froggish form and hopped away, leaving a befuddled Inoso to his thoughts.
