Hello all. I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions for a nice graphics card for running EQ2. I have read that EQ2 has a lot of problems with the 8800's so i'd like to stay away from that unless these problems have been resolved. I'd like to stay around the $200-$250 price range if at all possible. I saw the stickied thread at the top but the card suggested got pretty mixed customer reviews. Thank you in advance.

The problem is that currently EQ2 does not use the graphics card to its best potential. The game is much more CPU/RAM bound than GPU bound. I just picked up an 8800GT and eq2 is running fine. I 3 box and have 3 machines next to each other and between them there is a large range of hardware but they all run the game about the same. Machine 1 is a clear winner but I think it has more to do with the CPU and RAMSys 1 (few weeks old)CPU - AMD Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz (OC'd slightly to about 2.6GHz)RAM - 4GB PC2 6400 (using 32bit XP so not all is addressable)GPU - 8800GT 512MBMB chipset - AMD 780GSys 2 CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Windsor 2.0GHzRAM - 1GB PC2 6400GPU - x1950PROMB Chipset - NVIDIA GeForce 7025Sys 3 CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 2.2GHzRAM - 2GB PC 3200GPU - 7900GS 256MBMB Chipset - NVIDIA nForce4 SLIOh and... if you get a 8800gt ... stay away from the Evga unless you have a new motherboard that supports PCI-e 2.0 .. The Evga cards seem to have problems with their reverse compatability (there is firmware to fix it, but you cant run it if the card wont work).
