Seriously, Conjies are by far the most neglected, visuals wise, of the summoners. Almost all their pets look horrid and do not fit the class at all.

Tanks: The golem, pile of rocks and the t8 were by far the best representations of an earthborne warrior that they ever get. What the heck @ a huuptic, worm, gorg and centipede?

Mage: From what I've seen, most of these are fairly decent, minus the absolutely horrid t8 pet... which dev thought it was a good idea to recolor a pet model that should have been the t7 tank?

Scouts: The first scout they get is the only one that truly emboidies a spirit of air. The t8 pet is just horrible... it's not even a scout model, it's a MONK!

If you support this, please post here saying so (at the least) and with any idea for better forms you may have. Please, do not let these poor mages be ignored by the devs! They deserve better animations for their pets!

Ya good luck!... We have had MULTIPLE threads/ Petitions/ Complaints and the best they could do is take the sound out from the mage pet and give us a shrink spell. Since The release of RoK I have stopped playing my conji until the changes were made. Unfortunately it doesnt EVER look like the Conjis are going to get some Dev lovin and as of a couple days ago have started the betrayal quest to NECRO. Thanks SOE for ruining my gameplay experience!

Seems like if what's currently offered isn't keeping the Conjy community interested in their class, the Dev's aughtta consider making at least SOME of their changes for them. A whole class full of unhappy players = an unplayed class = unbalanced gameplay.

I agree that the conjuror pet graphics are less than exciting. The t7 tank was just silly, and the t8 mage and scout are ho-hum.

I too agree with you, i've only recently started playing my conj again lately but after looking up what upgrades i get for my pet's i cant say im very impressed at all, i mean a monk for my scout? who honestly thinks of your conj department graphics, because the necro design team are about 20x better.

Honestly, they should ask the dev that has designed the pet graphics for conjies thus far to resign. Or ask them all to take a course in customer relations so that they /actually/ listen to their players. I mean, Necros complained about their pets in rok beta and had them changed. But, conjies complained and suggested even better ideas with a lot more volume than the necros and got ignored.

If I could find a site with pictures for all the /current/ conjie pets, I could probably go through and give better suggestions for 90% of them. Until then, I have a few notes. Ghost grahpics =/= air. Various biobeings =/= rock beings just because you say they are.

I too agree the Conj pets need a serious revamp. I cant recall how many /feedback forms I have filled out. I even had made sure i filled one out everyday from various toons I have for over a week and never heard anything back. I referred to various threads on the forums and still nothing. We have given them alt graphics we would like, everyone would just be a skin re-work and still the devs are silent. So incase they just happen to have missed all the other posts I would be happy with the following...

T8 Earth - Fine the way it isT8 Air - Valkerye from EverfrostT8 Fire - Personally I would be happy with the Male/Female Djinn found near Xalgoz in KC. I say this because it would fit with the Necro Caster pet being Male/Female in T8 (that and I like the graphic). Please Devs look at the numerous requests we have made and at least post a reply that this is being looked into or that we have to suffer with what we have.

As a former level 60 Conjurer I agree your Pet models are for the most part an epic failure on the part of the Graphics Designer

Necro pets on the other hand, I like about 90% of them

Example, EverQuest Online Adventures (the PS2 version of EQ) has the sweetest looking pets and they all get cooler looking the more you level up.EQ2 (in my opinion) is 10 times better than EQOA, there are probably way more players on EQ2, I dont understand why they can't give every class that get a pet, a unique model that changes every tier? All I know is I /feedback it every time I play. Also /feedback to put back the mounting horse animation, and I also /bug it figuring maybe thats what it is (as I never saw the patch notes, although I could have missed it).

The pets are definatly bad in RoK, especially with how good the Necromancer pets look. Up until T8 I thought the mage pets looked fairly nice, but our T8 mage looks like it should be a tank pet that managed to get into some lava. I don't even want to think about our scout pet... I used to use this to solo but I wouldn't now just because it looks like crap, you know it's not a scout when an assassin can put apply poison on it but they can't on a necromancer pet.The tank pet i can see, it works alright, I think that it should of been slightly smaller but at least we have pet shrink.I was overall very disappointed in the look of our dps pets, I know that necromancers have complained that their scout pet is just a male vampire but it looks really nice (especially as a master 1), we can't even say we have a scout pet... they could as least make it tank a little better since you know they did make it a monk and all.

I have come to the conclusion that the graphic designer of the Conjurer pets must be a female. No offense but all the Conj pets are cute and cuddly carebear type pets.

Compare these to the Necro pets - clearly designed by a male who knows how to make intimidating -looking pets (for the most part)

No offense to anyone but that is the only explanation for it I can think of

If I were to have even a little control over the way the conjie pets look and progress, I'd have them be like this:

Tank: Beetle->Rock Worm->Pile of Rocks->Golem->Gargoyle(not a fiend like necros)->EoF Golem->Current t8 tank

Mage: No real changes here, as they, for the most part, are personifications of fire. Though, a flying fire snake is a bit out there. Do you guys not have the floating blob of magma anymore? Also, as suggested, scrap the t8 mage pet completely and replace it with any of the following- Djinn(fire cloud bottom), lava painted drake or a combination of the t7 graphic and the one with the wizzie hat.

Scout: Man oh man, what a failure of a line... each and every one looks horrendous past the first one. Kind of a bad sign when the only pet out of an entire line that fits the theme is the very first one. Thing is, there are not many air based creatures to begin with, so it is hard to come up with suggestions. Maybe they should switch the elements of your scout and swarm pets since the scout already does cold damage?

By doing this, they would have access to a wide variety of models to chose from. Aqua Goblins, Sirens, clouds of ice, ice encrusted beings, Valkyries since they (I do believe) worship E'ci.

Not sure what they would replace your swarm pets with though, since there is essentially only one kind of bird in the entire game. Maybe air looking insects? Like a barely there bee frame engulfed in a pulsing cloud?

Any comment or anything on my ideas?

Well, on the bright side, LOTRO thinks that a Raven and a Bear (with a single animation of a swiping paw) is polished, reminding you of the fact that you will never be able to control a Balrog or anything remotely looking like a formidable furry pet (or a feathery friend). The Raven is sort of ok once you get used it - which I never could. I sometimes wonder if I get a Bird Cage later in the game for it.

The one thing that the Conjuror had above all else was that Flaming Gargoyle, that shrieked that awful cry before it flung two monstrous fireballs at the enemy (Master I).

The Tellurian models - the Soldier and the Worm, were pretty good. Nothing wrong there.

The Myrmidon - in Pink. Nice one. No really. I'm sure that the colour co-ordination is based on hating it and spending a lot of time trying to get the Master. The Green one was ok, but looked like a rockery in a garden. 2nd best model though from the Gargoyle.

The Champion - something that looked so dumb in the brain department it put you off using it. Like having a Golden Retriever bought from a dangerous substances chemical factory.

The Aery models - they need to be formless with just the swords, spears and the like visible. Just a personal view.

The Centipede and the Beetle are a travesty. There wasn't a day that went by when I couldn't wait to get to level 20 and at least have a Flaming Serpent. No game should put to you that when you start off, of course, you should begin with something so boring - who wouldn't want a Solider from level 1? (subscription goes through the roof). The replacement of course at 24 would be a soldier of a different, with claw like fingers - you know, a suitable upgrade to the most popular model ever conceived (rollseyes).

I've seen that legged Rock thing you get in EoF. I don't know what the model designers think they are doing, other than to annoy as much as possible. That was simply an awful pet.

And any one will tell you that - in view of the Conjuror - having a pet that wasn't Adept III just wasn't what you were expecting to get as a support pet. I think, that no pet of the Conjuror should ever be summonable based on Apprentice. I think a pet should be summoned that is Adept I in capability from the get-go. I know several players who actually hesitated even summoning an Apprentice pet waiting on the off chance to get an Adept III fairly early or a Master when they could afford to - that focus on wanting to do that should not be a game rule with pet summoners.

I agree, Conjurers need a revamp of pet models... necro's get a lot of loving in that department, I think it would be nice to give the conjurer some as well.

Honestly, you conjies have always gotten a mixed bag when it comes to pet appearances in the tiers. One good looking one, and the rest are crap. I'll just use tiers 7&8 for referance between both necro and conjie.

ConjieT7: Tank-Gorg(crap), Scout-Ugly ghost thing(crap), Mage-Flaming being inside a robe (awesome!)T8: Tank-Brute looking golem(good), Scout-Ghost monk([Removed for Content]?), Mage-Massive ROCK/lava GOLEM(wow...a tank model for a mage pet?)

NecroT7: Tank-A fiend (meh), Scout-A vampire (epitamy of undeath control), Mage-A wraith/lich (again, veru much suited)T8: Tank-An armored skelly riding a horse(FREAKING AWESOME), Scout-Male Vamp (sort of lame that they just changed the gender, but good), Mage-Drachnid (looks good, but hardly undead)

I could go through the other tiers where necros get zombies, skellies (with and without armor), shadows (screams dark arts to me), mage-skellies, flaming hell bats and other such pets where the conjies only get a few pets that really match their class.

So please, revamp the pets of theirs that don't match their class. Aka, leave the ones that do alone.

They use what is already going to be in game more or less so I can see why they have problems, a Valklyrie would of been way more acceptable as a scout pet that's for sure (I at least want my monk to FD, heh).Just as a side note I know that necromancer scout pets only got a gender change but we got our guild necro the master 1, and if you're seen it it looks really deadly. He looks pretty much the same outfit wise but he uses dark blood red katanas, I think it looks great for the dark appearance that necro pets should have. Not that I'm expecting much, but that's okay.. maybe in a couple years when they do a level increase or something, can always hope.

With his friends all about to fall, Merlin calls forth the last of his power to summon a beast from the nether to save them. Clouds swirl, lightning flickers. A black portal to another horrible dimension tears through the fabric of space and time and out comes... A kinda blobby, flamey thingie!!! Our heroes are saved!??

Maybe if we bring this issue up enough times, a dev will come on and admit that they made a horrible mistake with the t8 mage and "scout" pets? I mean, everyone has had such great ideas that are already in the game to switch these pets out for... it would take a dev a whole of an hour to make these changes, I'm sure.

T7 Tank: Current T8 mage without the lava and sounds.T8 Tank: Leave it as is... maybe make it a bit more rockish?

T8 Scout: A Valkyrie (using two swords) or a Djinn with weapons would be nice.Other scouts: Find ways to scrap the ghost look, it doesn't fit a summoner of the elements.

T8 Mage: Lava painted drake, Efreeti (flaming eyes and hands), Djinn (flaming cloud bottom), The T7 pet with a wizzie hat on with a pulsing flame aura.

As you can see, there are tons of easy ways to fix these pets, yet the Conjie plight is ignored, not even an incling of a response to put their minds at ease. So please, show your Conjies some love and revamp their pets? They'll love you long time?

Ugh. What a horror. Make ti big enough to be seen but not so large that you have to shrink it out of kindness to your group. And red. Flickering flames.

Mythical pet? What is that. OMG. I never saw one. I had master in t7 earth and I'm hoping to get lucky enough to find the t8 earth (the one worthy of his name). I didn't know there were mythical pets available, but I'll never see one unless he walks by me on the way to one of his mythical raids<img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

Can anyone post pictures of t8 mythical pets?

t8 mythical fire is from the conjuror epic weapon...it is basically a smaller jade golem model. I'll try to get a pic linked if i can find it....

Shai

For the record there are also 2 Necro pet that IMO are poorly designed and both look as if they were made in 2 minutes at 4 am in the morning:

-Shadowy Assassin :All spell levels (App 1- Master)

-Grim Heretic :App 1-Adept 3

Shadowy Assassin is just a 2-D black outline of a human that weilds 2 weapons. This seriously took ZERO skill to create and couldnt have taken much time either. Probably the poorest design of all the Necro pets. The Master version looks identical to the App1 with just different weapons. This pet needs a complete revamp from App1- Master.

Grim Heretic : Just an empty robe with a Scythe even at Adept 3. Poor , simple design that could definitely be improved upon. However the Master version of this pet is cool : An actual skeleton appears inside the robe and the Scythe is upgraded to some kind of fabled-looking weapon. Very nice upgrade with the Master- as it should be. Nothing worse than a Master Pet that doesnt look any different from the Adept (see Shadowy Assassin ). The Grim Heretic Adept needs more detail, at least at Adept 3 make it more than just an empty robe.

Sorry to hijack this thread and as I said before I am in full agreement that Conj pets need revamp too ( I played a Conj at launch of EQ2 to level 60 )

I stopped playing my Conji at 60. Couldn't stand looking at the pets any more. Now he sits in Chardok; waiting for people that need a port.

/shrug Dosen't both me in the least. As long as my tank pet gets out there and the mobs hit him instead of me, I am happy. I certainly won't stop playing a conjurer because of the pet graphics.

Sorry Brinelan, but you are part of the problem. People who think like that give the devs an excuse to ignore this issue. Take pride in how your pets look instead of just accepting the garbage you are handed most of the time.

As for the Shadowy Assassin issue, I see it as a a coelescents of shadows into a human form. Could it use some armor or something over it? Indeed. The Grim Heretic is decent as as, But needs to go like this:

App: Empty robeAdept: Skelly in robeMaster: As is, both is with a ghost skelly instead.

The one necro pet that irks me the most is the mage pet right before the Heretic... [Removed for Content] @ a lamia? We go from a lesser vamp/zombie thingy to a horned skelly with a wicked glow to a lamia... Needs to be replaced with a ghost or something imo.

Very cool IMO

If a graphical overhaul is not possible then a simpler fix would be to add 3 drop down lists to the pet options which would allow users to select which of the graphics to use from all currently available pet types of the same type.

I am necro at heart but one of my first characters was conj and I leveled her up to the 50's before I kinda quit playing her as much. I do still play her once in while and know from what I seen so far of T8 pets that I am not all inpressed with the mage and scout pet. What I do know there is something that never made sense to me is how your first lvl 20 mage pet before any upgrades is really cool. It is the same fun spell at lvl 20 conj get but when u upgrade it to the master it turns in to some very small boring swiry looking serpent when I think the first apperence app I and I think adept I should be the master if you ask me for that one is the cooler looking one. I do hope that they do revamp some of them........

..................... also maybe looking at the T8 master scout pet for the necros too, to at least make his clothes have some color please from the lower grades of him?

Come on guys, don't let this post/issue die! Keep this post going with new ideas, or eehash the old ones if you have to! If this post dies, start a new one next month sometime. I won't be able to since I can't afford to play a game that isn't really fun anymore. (same ole grind to the end then have nothing to do) But, I still want to see this game do well... and the first step is listening to its players!

I believe, as well that conjurors need a pet revamp, i was here for the first revamp, so i know they can do it, and have done it.So personally i liked all of the earth pets, although from new players i hear a lot of contempt for the bugs, so i suggest a change for that mostly because people hate them...The scout/monk whatever the heck they are after the first, they just all look the same...so why not go first air the same->tornado model, with swords/weapons inside it spinning---> the air elemental model, you know the one ---> griffon (you could make it like have a wispy effect around it if you want, but i mean its a flying animal so... ya) also the valkryie model is popular, the monk idea was good, but the model is just broken, and doesn't look goodthe fire pets, were all great till t8, the t8 is horrid, maybe as a tank pet it works, but a mage, just no. personally, i favor a fire drake, djinn, droag spellcaster is possible too, heck an enhancement to the t7 model with like some flame tornados around it, just do somethinghydromancer - perfectly fine really, just give us a t8 model

So still no word from a Dev on this? Maybe we will get really lucky and when the new expansion comes out in Fall of 2008 they will do something with these sad pets. I know that I am going to go to Fan Faire this year and if I get in on one of the Q&A boards I will make sure to ask them what is up with the pets and more importantly why none of them can answer a question on the forum.

What exactly is cute/cuddly about a misty ghost blob or a fire blob..? Not a whole lot. I prefer the look and attention that the necro pets got. Conjuror pets need to be looked at and revamped.

I would take the EQ1 pets in a heartbeat over these abominations we have now. The artists almost had to intentionally come up with the worst models possible. As stated before, it would take no time at all to make a change consistent with the many many suggestions. I just don't get what the problem is.

What the [Removed for Content] is up with the t8 air pet changing colors when I rotate the camera?

Here we go again .........After posting to many of these posts in the past and getting nowhere I am not really sure why i am bothering to reply to this post. The last few times this issue was raised SOE just ignored the post even after 100's of responses ...... but I am willing to give it one more go.

I am happy with the T8 Tank Pet. It even has progression, you get a sense of achievement when you get your Master as it looks different.

Mage Pet - I hate it! It's a golem. I would be happy with any of the fire droag/djinn/drake type suggestions. PLEASE give it progression, even if it is just colour, make the AD1, AD3 and Master look different.

Scout Pet - I hate it! It's a Monk! Most of the time you cannot even see it properly. Pick any scout model you have tucked away in the database, I am sure I would be happer with it.

....... doesn't hold his breath waiting for a Dev response.

A phoenix as a mythical would be rather nice could sort of be accomplished by using a flaming drake model or smth.. or even windfeather on fire, maybe a lil smaller! T8 tank is cool, especially m1! M1 scout with the bo isn't too bad either, not a scout though. I won't hold my breath about a change.
