I am posting this because the person who had it happen to them is new to the game. We in the guild have been helping him level so that he can play with us through giving him money to buy collection items off the broker, mentoring and what not.So today he is running through TS and gets kicked out of the game. He logs back in and he is in an entirely different zone and has lost 2 levels, many AAs and has quests he has completed in his quest journal. On my advise he /petitioned this.Sony came back to him saying that "Our records indicate you have purchased collection items for the purpose of leveling you charecter. We have rolled it back to an earlier saved point prior to you having recieved these items. So if they changed the rules mid game fine but I doubt there are many players who have NOT gotten a level here and there or even power leveled by this mechanism. So whats the deal? And why do they allow us to sell these items if others do not purchase them for leveling?
The folks I've personally known who done this was for characters on their same account NOT for another person. /shrug to me it's no big deal how you level as long as your not breaking the rules(tm) doing it. I am not aware of any rules about this maybe they were tracing down a plat sale and somehow through the purchace of something your friend got tagged with it. Anyways We on the boards can't help you, you really need to talk with soe about it. I suggest open a petition and talk with them. You might get a different answer then the canned one.

I am curious though about the implication that it is cheating to level through collection quests...

I've never done it but I've a LOT of times seen people ding 2-3 levels and several AA all at once on a new alt. I thought it was pretty much standard practice.

Doesn't seem possible that completing a quest would be considered an exploit...

I'm really surprised by this. I don't see why it would matter but I don't know the thought behind the policy. I'm all about powerleveling but I'm not sure if collections are the best way. Collection rares mostly cost plats and a new account getting such help may have set off some alarms. Mentoring isn't a bad thing to look into either.

I like to know if this is true or not. Its not uncommon for me to turn in 125 or so collections on my alts when they hit around level 25. So this would effect a lot of my toons.

Like someone else posted and I stated it might have tripped some plat buying alarm, when dealing with your alt it's not too freaking hard to go OOh it came from the same account versus what the OP was trying to do.

As to the other person commenting on mentoring could be "exploited" I'm sorry to burst your bubble but it's not. In soe's eyes you are spending ingame time to gain those levels/rewards/whatever effectivly paying soe to play. Don't get me wrong there are some issues with mentoring but basically the good far outweights the bad.

C'mon folks, voicing issues about CS actions like this isn't kosher since you're missing vital information regarding the situation to then push your side, the information that was learned through CS investigation. This issue was investigated, and correct actions were taken, there's no consipracy nor cover-up, here. If you've had such an action taken, please speak with CS about it so you can then learn of what resulted in that action.

Since this is a one-sided fight without all the information, this issue's locked.

~Gnobrin!
