Greetings, Heard how good Eq2 is and decided to come aboard.

I recently made a Sarnak Wizard and really want to get into the crafting aspect of the game. I would love to be able to decorate my future house and in no rush doing so as I been busy reading all these quests

Any advise would be appreciated, Thank you

Welcome to EQ2!

The best place to start is with the crafting tutorial guy (err lizard?) in Gorowyn. He should be directly across from the 5sp house door in the housing area. He will give you a quest to learn about harvesting and then a quest to learn about actually crafting. I recommend you do both.

The tutorial will take you through crafting something from each tradeskill type, and you can decide which type you like best. In EQ2 you have to specialize so you will be limited in what you can make. When you hit lvl 9 talk to the guy in the back of the housing area for your first step of specialization. When you hail him he will give you a brief overview of each of the specializations and you can make a selection. The same thing happens at 19.

From what you said I would suggest the carpenter tradeskill. They make house decorations and are the least tied to your adventure level to still make useful stuff. For that one you will choose Craftsman at lvl 9 and Carpenter at lvl 19.

Hope that helps you get started, you can also join the crafting channel in game and get all kinds of questions answered. Just right click on your chat tab and choose chat options. You should see a series of checkable chat channels (such as crafting, evil, newbie, lvl 1-10, etc). Just click the checkbox next to the crafting channel to join it. If you can't get an answer there try 1-10.

Good luck!

Thank you for the information, just what I was looking for <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" />"

Ok another question, How can I remove the chat text from the bad guys that keep killing stuff, its so annoying. These bird guys on the beach keep killing sand crawlers and it just fills up my chat box. I messed around with the settings but to no luck.

Edit - I just noticed we play on the same server <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

HAHHAHA....

Just right click on your chat box... and you will open an "chat options" menu where you can set what you see in each chat box you have. You will have to remove "other player" stuff form that box.

.. and Gorowyn is the town you will eventually be sent to in your quest line... it is up the hill from the 2nd beach you are sent to....

Erithorn

You can also set all NPC dialog so you only hear it once, the first time you are in the zone, and then not again. I'm not 100% cure it will take care of the birdman text, but its less drastic then turning it all off. Just go to Options, sound.

If you are going to be doing interior decorating, here are some VERY handy resources:The Norrathian Homeshow forum - shows examples of lots of homes, and is a great place to get ideas and learn from other decorating addicts!Everseek furniture gallery - This is handy because it shows you pics of pretty much all of the housing items including quested stuff and items you can buy from merchants and faction items. It's a little weak still in the T7 and T8 range, but still a very useful resource.EQ2 Trader's Corner Furniture Showcase - all the crafted furniture items, with pictures.EQ2 Trader's Corner Tradeskill Guides - fabulous info for both beginning crafters and those of us that have a whole stable of mastercrafters. And, because all interior decorating addicts like to show off, you can peek at some of my decorating projects if you like!

I keep my chat boxes fairly small so they fill up quick. One thing you can do is set up various tabs for things to direct to. Just right click on the chat tab and click New Tab. Then you can left click on that tab to activate it. From there you can right click and choose what gets directed to that window. For example, I have all my combat spam directed to a second tab on my main chatbox. This keeps my already busy chat channel from going too crazy, this is especially useful since I run a log parser and need all the verbose chat spam to make it work correctly. I also have all the quest text sent to a third tab as I use the chat bubbles and read the dialog from there so don't need it repeated in my chat window. I think others have also given some good suggestions no how to avoid them.

If you have any questions in game, feel free to throw them my way if I am on. I never mind answering questions for a new player. Primary characters are in my sig, I am on at least one of them most nights. ;}
