Hey all,

I'm starting out as an SK & lately i have been tanking for the same people but am having problems keeping aggro onto my SK.

I am a lvl 28 SK & regularly group with a couple of friends who are a bruiser & monk. They are both alts but I keep finding that they take aggro from me.

I usually start off a Heroic Opportunity and use Grim Coil Adept 1 then Decree of Decay Master 2 then chuck on a couple others like Fetid Grasp, Sorrow & Consume vitae to building up hate but somehow i seem to lose aggro to my fellow group members and usually have to use Rescue or Graven Embrace to win back aggro.

I'm pretty sure i am doing something wrong & any pointers would be most appreciated on how i can build my hate up more or want would be a good casting order when tanking?

Thanks in advance & sorry for the Noob questions

Heroic opportunities are lost in the noise in a group - great for solo, not important in group. A long casting high damage spell is a great way to get initial aggro. If you need to body pull (pull mob away from other mobs by getting closer to it than the others, then moving away) you need to make sure those in your group know to wait until after you've actually hit it to start their attacks. If your healer is any good he/she may get aggro during a body pull. That's ok, the mob will run to the group that much faster and you can kick it (to slow it down), quick taunt, then shield bash. Read your abilities. Some work fast some work slow. Use the fast ones right off. Bang bang bang- snap aggro. Then use your slower abilities and debuffs.

Thanks for the info I'll look at my debuffs & hate lines later i think i might be casting the slower ones 1st.

I did Crushbone last night as my 1st big place i have tanked & did mostly body pulls. On the occasions when i manged to get more mobs than my group could handle i FD'd to break them up sending the extras back so as not to wipe my group.

I have just managed to upgrade some of my Armor to Devout which is a big help. I'll also look at trying to upgrade some of my debuffs & taunts too. Most of my spells are Adept 1 i have only a couple of ADept 3's & my Master 2 choice Decree of Decay. I've managed to do this through harvesting & swapping the rare steel that i find for the rare mallable loams so i can upgrade my spells & CA's. The rare steel seems more common than the mallable loams.

I
