Any suggestions on a good Anti Virus program that doesn't not bother EQ2? I am running Norton, but even when I disable it, it tens to bog down the system a little.Thinking either System suit, or Mcafee.Any suggestions?
Norton is Satan incarnate. Try AVG

I use AVG on my current EQ2 computer. It seems to work well as long as you keep all the active protection off. Generally, as long as you can completely deactivate the AV until you request a scan, it'll work well with EQ2.

We used AVG for a while, but switched when all those sites were hacked into. We now are using Bitdefender. Hubby did some research and saw that AVG was slacking a lot when compared to other AV programs...With Bit Defender, you can turn on Game mode when playing if you feel that it is affecting yoru game play, although to be honest, I dont see a difference between the 2.

Personal thoughts here, not related to SOE.I use AVG, I have for a few years. It has a smaller footprint then the other McAfee and Norton versions. I wanted to use Panda, since well, its called Panda, but I had my differences with their program.

But Hubby is in charge of all this stuff. I am trying not to learn too much about it all.... *wink*

Things like wireless access protection, mobile device protection. I switched back to the Trend product.

Trend Internet Security Pro has a lot of nice features, it has a somewhat small foot print in memory and system resources then a lot of the other products on the market, including the free ones. The one very nice thing about the Trend product is the ability to tell the realtime scanner to ignore files or directories in the real time scan portion of the program. It will scan the ignored directories normally, but when you launch the application and the directory it resides in is a part of the ignore configuration, any data streaming to or from it is not scanned by the realtime scanner service. Helps tremendously in performance for the online games.

Pricing is not to bad either, normal price for 3 machines is 69.95 for 1 year, free major upgrades during that year, hourly scanner program updates. Renewal for the scanner license is around 39.00. Their support is top notch. Recently saw it advertised at a local Office Max for 39.95

Always makes me feel better when a Dev backs up what players are doing.
I always liked Nod32, I had to test several antivirus packages for some aging pc's a while back and did a lot of time tests on opening our main app and that one was the fastest out of all the packages I tried. (Mcafee, Norton, Avg, Panda, Nod32). Really gave us some useful life to older PC's.

Stats were approximatly as follows

Mcafee - 2 min load on app

Norton - 2 min load on app

AVG - 1:00 load on app

Panda - 1:30 load on app

Nod32 - 30 second load on app

I've never had a problem with it running 24/7, including during gameplay. Honestly, unless you are having a real issue that you know is caused by your AV program, I wouldn't switch it off. If you do switch it off, then yes, you will need to manually run the program again to start it up again. It should automatically restart upon reboot.
