View Full Version : Specific help requested from a brand new SK

<p>I've recently started an SK (provisioner) to duo with my wife - both level 20 atm. We will be mainly duoing outside and don't intend to do too many instances atm unless recommended. I've got a 23 monk who is an alchemist and a 16 necro, both for soloing as I play a lot more than her. As these are new characters we don't have a lot of cash and there is no way I can afford to keep all my spells at Adept 3 at the moment, never mind MC. </p><p>1st question - I can hopefully get all my App IV's from my monk but I was wondering if there are any specific spell lines that people would absolutely recommend getting at Adept 3 and which are safe to keep at App IV. Also any advice of a similar nature for my monk if anyone plays both classes would be great as they are going to be sharing any rares I get until their levels separate.</p><p>2nd question - there doesn't seem to be much difference between App IV and Adept I, is it worth bothering paying 4G+ for that slight upgrade for any spells from App IV to Adept 1?</p><p>3rd Question - can anyone tell me of any "must do" SK quests from low 20's to 40's, to keep me going for a while </p><p>Finally, I'm using a 2 hander as duoing with a Fury, who is one of the best healers I have ever played with (and I'm not saying that just because it's my wife <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />) I hardly ever go below 80% health, I assume this is the best for dps?</p><p>2nd Finally <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/385970365b8ed7503b4294502a458efa.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" /> - Am I gimping myself by going provisioner, are there any awesome no-trade recipes granting brilliant weapons or armor which I may be missing out on at higher levels by not taking armorer or weaponsmith?</p><p>Looking forward to any replies.....</p>

Fortunately you get to choose to upgrade the blessing and a taunt every other tier. Additionally you'll want to put the 8 or 9 points needed in the Reaving AA line to max the heal of your blessing. Its a preference which to do first: Int Line 4-4-8 to max spell crit (which affects the heals from your taps and blessing line) and the points in the Reaving AA line.</p><p>Check out this link for a list of spells and CA's: <a rel="nofollow" href="http://home.comcast.net/~eq2gamedata/shadowknight.html" target="_blank">EQ2 Game Data</a> The highlighted spells/CA's are the one's you get to choose for your Master II. At level 14 I would take Infernal Blessing, at 24 I would take Decree of Decay, at 40 I would take Unholy Blessing.</p><p>2) Nope. BTW harvest harvest harvest. Best way to make money in the game, sell'em on the broker. First go to the broker and find the harvests that are selling for more then 2 copper in your tier so you don't waste bag space. You should be able carry a couple 32 slot containers, they'll be pricey but are well worth the investment. I have 4 slots filled with the 32 slot containers and a 36 slot harvest bag. Weight should not be an issue. Pages and Collectibles can sell for quite a bit, don't pass them by.</p><p>3) If you didn't level up in TD the class quest armor is decent. However, TD provides the best gear for the first 20-30 levels the game has ever seen. Otherwise Norrath is your oyster. Ton of quests in Nektulos, (my favorite), Butcher Block, Thundering Steps. If you really enjoy questing and taking your time the Heritage Quests are fun, (the rewards are out of date though). Check out eq2i.com and look at the quest listing through the Timelines feature. BTW quest quest quest, its the most fun way to level and earns you the AA's you need.</p><p>4) Depending on your skill the two of you should still be able to tackle the instance dungeons when the mobs are green/low blue. My wife and I duo'd Nek Castle when most of it was blue. Granted we were in MC'd gear with Adept III's and it took a long time. Nothing wrong with poking your face in and taking a couple swipes, if anything you'll improve your skill pretty quick or kill each other. Keep smiling this is a game after all. Oh and don't be afraid to PUG, a lot of times you'll have a great time and meet new friends. Of course when you get into a nightmare PUG just laugh through the experience.</p><p>5) Provisioner is actually a great tradeskill for make coin as well as saving it, consumables FTW. My Alchemist makes the most of all my crafters but that's due to poisons crafted with rares.</p>

Provisioner, armorer, weaponsmith, jeweler, alchemist are all good for an SK. You'll need something at some point from all of them. I have alts for that. Carpenter are good in general. Tailor, woodworker, scribe not so great for SK. As to which will make you big cash fast, well, that depends on fate. For instance, provisioners were kind of marginal for a while- but then they added the t8 MC charms, and instant cash flow. Box makers (carpenters) can make a fortune right after the release of a new tier. And then become marginal. Except... maybe for a week once they boost the number of bank slots. When t8 MC armor was boosted to add resists, I made a fortune selling incarnadine armor- since the rare was going for 15 gold and I could sell the stuff for plat. The moral of the story is- any crafting profession can be a good one to have- but if luck rolls your way, strike while the iron is hot! <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />
