Hi everyone.Returning to EQ2 after a LONG break, and previously I suffered from severe alt-aholism and never once got a character above about the low 20s.  Now, I've decided to take a new wizard (which I made fresh at level 1, just to go through the starting island and re-learn the game) and level it.  I have seen plenty of threads on how to spec for soloing, and I've learned quite a bit from that.  I'm still not sure how I should spec, though, because, while I will be soloing some, I will be spending the majority of my time duoing with my wife, who will be playing a guardian.  We played a mage-warrior duo in wow, and decided to give something similar a try in EQ2.Any suggestions for AAs for a wizard with a tank in his pocket?

On the sorcerer line, wisdom has almost always been a great line to go down, as far as I know. As for secondary line give str a shot, catalyst should do the most good duoing with a tank around. On the wizard tree, look into manaburn for sure, great for taking down heroic mobs fast. Other spells worth AAing are ice nova, incapacitate, magi's shielding if you plan on taking the odd hit, our debuff (rending icicles at lower levels, never remember the higher level version's names), conflagration, freezing wind, ball of lava. I know i'm forgetting other spells and this is a rough guide, but it's my personal suggestion. One last thing, if you get a lot of problem with resists and getting hit, especially at lower levels, swap str line for sta. Manashield is good stuff anyway, and the casting skill+/defense+ abilities don't hurt at all.

Hey, thanks for the info. This is exactly what I was looking for.I was already looking at catalyst and manaburn, but hadn't really thought about the wis line all that much.  Given that I'll have a tank with me most of the time, I do think I will forgo the sta line, as I really shouldn't be getting hit much.  Every MMO I've ever played with my wife, she's played a tank, and she generally knows how to keep agro off of squishy me very well.

catalyst and manaburn are fun to play with, but i think later on are a little less useful.  i have 4-4-4-8 str, 4-6-4-8-2 agi, 4-7-4-8-2 wis.  this allows for the 12% crit, 12% casting speed, and 12% mana pres.  with that you get 22% damage bonus to your next nuke with freehand sorcery, and an extra encounter nuke via Static Discharge.  atm i have 23% crit, and it hits quite often.  i am only 73, so pretty sure i will be picking up more crit gear as i head to 80 anyway.  on the wizard tree i spec'd 15 points into shielding and then got reach.  having extra range is always nice.  i am currently working down the cold line for iceshape.  having a tank is always nice, i had to use stamina line for a while to tank my own mobs, tho i wish i could go back to that but rok doesn't really allow for wizardly tanks lol.
