everyone say SKs dopn't get Dev attention. you are dead wrong. I remember a LOT of dev attention. the problem is: most of it was nerfs.

I don't have all the facts. I just remember how things were in the beginning. it would be awsome if someone could list all the nerfs we have had over the years.

before LU13 we had 5 AE spells. most of our spells could be cast while we were moving. I could tank epics. I remember one grouping epic x2 mobs with a single healer. guards and zerks were still the raid tanks because they could be buffed to 100% avoid. I could solo single red mobs. my spells didn't interrupt. after LU13, most of my AEs were gone, I had to stand still to cast. I remember getting spanked by a group of yelow double down mobs and going [Removed for Content]?!!!

in t6 our ward changed, we got tap veins and deathmarch. I owned duels because my ward was so powerful. melee would beat themselves to death hitting the ward. I could tank in t6 with a good healer but I had aggro issues. I remember being pretty frustrated solo because it seemed almost every class could solo even con ^^^. our guild bruiser could solo siphon. I never could even get close to killing him. warlocks and wizards took over the world.

in KoS we got a bit of lovin. I remember getting my spell crits maxxed and doing tons of damage. I had several spells that hit over 2K constantly. we were good dps. I could tank. I did OK with aggro. then, another ninja nerf. my spell damage suddenly we back to where it was before I got crits. my crits were at something like 67%, but a crit was only getting me back to the previous base damage of the spell. that dps nerf hit pretty hard. I remember trying to solo a named in SoS. he was a lvl 64 ^^^. I was 70. the fight took forever. I ran out of power and couldn't lifetap anymore. he finally killed me after 10 minutes of manastone and manasieve. I didn't have the dps to kill much of anything solo. by then end of t7, I was fully mastered and had mostly raid gear. I helped a guild get started raiding. that is how I got my raid spot. I had every master except for doom judgement. I could tank any non-raid instance in KoS. HoF still gave me trouble. people said SKs can tank HoF. along comes EoF...... my raid damage is ok. I can parse 1100-1400 if I get the right buffs. the guard and zerker were both 1700-2300 with similar gear. Now, all the instances have yellow mobs. they ALL hit hard. it becomes a LOT more important to avoid getting hit. I don't have crap for avoidance. the mobs in valdoons mistmore woud 2-hit me. I was no longer a viable tank. I could pull aggro from almost anyone, but I idn't want to. I became a group buffer/OT. when unrest came along, I tried to tank it with 2 of our raid healers. they couldn't keep me up. I knew we were pretty screwed when I couldn't even group tank anymore with full masters and raid gear. I rolled a wizard at and leveled him to 65 or so. then, I quit the game.

I cam back about 2 months ago. I ran my SK to Kylong and started questing. I hit lvl 71. I couldn't wait to get to the broker and get some upgraded spells. boy was I disapointed. my new lvl 71 spells in adept 3 weren't any better than my old spells in master 1. I looked through the whole tier. it was all the same. SK spells don't get upgraded in T8. even the master version of the new spell is only 10% more than my t7 master. I took my SK back to east freepot, transmuted all the gear, made adornments to sell, and geared out my wizard. I still play the SK from time to time. it feels so weak compared to the old SK. my spells don't seem to do as much damage. I notice that our old buff that did str and sta now does only sta. it's raid wide now. like giving the real tank 60 more points of sta will get a a raid slot.

SK are not viable in this expansion because of spell scaling, avoidance, and mit. our defensive stance is worthless. we do alomost as much damage with just autoattack and we do casting. it seems they have made melee damage more important to fighters. the only problem is that they forgot that were are only about 35% melee. it's sad that my spells do less damage now than they did at level 65. my ward is almost exactly the same as it was when I was lvl 54. I have spells that use power that don't do anything. (the pariah's line) autoattack actually does more damage than pariah's. HT still does the same amout of damage it did in T6. my new spells aren't even worth buying because they aren't upgrades unless you can afford the 50+ plat for a master.

it would be kewl if someone had a list of all the times we have had "dev attention". I remember a lot of it. too bad it was almost never good.

Devol,

retired SK of lucan Dlere

don´t forget to mention that our despoiling mist spell got nerfed with the last LU.when we first got despoiling mist it was cool because it lowered the miti from an encounter up to 8 targets (and still says so in the spell text) and give us from each of them some miti back but now it only effects 1 target.Deathmarch didn´t get an upgrade what is really sad because it´s a hell of a spell but now in T8 i can hardly get the aggro back and when it comes to raiding Deathmarch is just useless because i won´t get the aggro anymore, even palas have more and better aggro control.T7 master to T8 master sucks really bad, the little amount of dmg the spells got buffed is ridicoulus and non effortable, sry to say so but guards/zerkers hit even harder than the SK.guards and zerker outparse a SK with ease, i only sometimes manage to parse in a raid fight 2.5k dps but that´s very seldom, sad but true.i´m very dissapointed at how SOE treats us beloved SK Deathknell from the Server Innovation aka LAGovation

Hoewever the missing AoE encounters are indrect nerfs to all our AoEs because in KoS Tap Veins was maybe 10-12% of my zonewide, in CoA its 1-2%. Deathmarch also only has 1 trigger on a tripple up while it was triggering 4-8 times mostly before. Pestilence .. near worthless now.

Also all these +Melee Crit items give pure melee a 100% benefit, while we only have 50-60% benefit from that .. and Zerkers/Guards with buckler line have even more benefit from that.

So the problem for me is .. we have not been nerfed .. we have just been forgotten ..

It's not about how many times we have been nerfed.

It's about how our class was pretty much an afterthought when Kunark was being designed. We bring nothing to the table. Guilds are able to clear VP/Trak without using a Shadowknight once. I suppose that can be said of a few classes out there. But seeing as we are a plate class, you would think there would be more for us to do here.

Going from 100% spell crit to 67 hurt ALOT! We really were good dps for a few days at least.

I do remember duals as fun at the begining. I remember a zerker with insane gear beating himself to death against me in about 5 seconds. Good times.

I don't think Sony has intended to put us where we are on the scale. Just forgotten about, and it's just much easier to design raid encounters around 1 class of tank. And that is exactly what it has become. I have mostly masters, 6 pieces of VP set loot, my mythical, and pretty the much the best of for my class for every single slot. And guess what. A guardian with all adept 3's, and his mythical (which is darn easy to get know for my guild and many many more) can tank the pants off me, and dps the pants off me.

Have to agree we have just slowly but surely dropped to the bottom of the barrel, and been told that is our place.

/agree

The sad state of our class, in particular for end-game content, is not so much about being nerfed.

It's about the Dev's not paying any attention to the class improvements SK's need to keep up, as a tank, or dps, or utility, in a new expansion environment.

ROK is already 6 months old. By the time the Dev's fix our class, most of us may be playing AOC, and may not pay any attention at all to any new EQ2 expansions in future.

I know it's only an MMO game - but our class really DID get screwed with the ROK expansion.

Kinda makes it hard for a lot of us to continue investing game time, and money, in our SK Mains.
