It's used to 'rescue' someone who has pulled aggro inadvertantly and you can't get the mob off them any other way.

Death March is a very nice buff, every time a mob dies your group gets 10 seconds of [I cannot control my vocabulary] pwn. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" /> Great for wiping out trash, but what makes it really special is that the buff is so good that mobs get real upset when you cast it, or more simply it has a heck of taunt effect. In my experience it compares favorably with a Zerker's Insidious Gibe.

BTW we can FD group mates in order to rescue them as well.

Culled some FUD from my post; I thought DM's threat was more similiar to Insidious Gibe which can literally pull a load of trouble on a group. Also, as I approach and surpass 70 I'm finding DM is not scaling well and is losing its effectiveness.

It is a Group AoE spell. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing some sneaky part of the spell or something.

Not sure of the exact stats off the top of my head, but Death March is a group buff that adds (at ADIII) 127 Int, 50 DPS, 55% Cast haste, and immunity to control effects for 10 seconds. The buff lasts for 1 minute and if any mobs die during that time, an additional "On the March" buff with the same effect is put on the group. Death March is also has a rather large inital aggro hit when casted, but to my knowledge, not when the "On the March" buff is reapplied.

Deathmarch is an encounter AoE it can't pull additional mobs. It can, however, get your groupmates killed in some cases(mostly in raids) where the mass DPS boost your groupmembers receive can sometimes enable them to pull aggro.

The Pestilence line can pull additional mobs, because it's a contagious AoE which spreads to nearby mobs upon the targetted mob's death. Maybe the poster was confusing the two spells?

Deathmarch and Rescue are typically used for aggro control...Deathmarch to secure initial aggro, with Rescue held in reserve for use when someone pulls aggro from you. HT can also get you snap aggro in some cases...these are the 3 best snap aggro abilities we have.

Deathmarch in dungeons is best saved for multi-mob encounters since it:

1. Most efficiently boosts dps on multi mob encounters

2. Helps secure aggro on all encounter mobs even when groupmates are blasting away with AoE's etc.

To sort of simply what some have said (and the advice has by and large been fantastic), one could think of Death March as a group-wide rescue. I tend to save DM for those times when the brown stuff hits the fan, and I need to get ahold of the situation quickly. Case in point, last night in CoA I accidentally tabbed over to an encounter that we weren't engaged to. No big deal, as I tabbed right back off of it. Except that in that half-second, the ranger's auto-attack went off, and she brought that mob, and the one next to it. So, I popped Death March, Divine Aura (10-seconds of near immunity), all my aoe's, Pestilence, Despoiling Mist, Doom Aura, Tap Veins, and we rocked the house.

I've heard it stated that Death March transfers the hate caused by DPS'ers during the period of the buf to the SK. I can see no indication of this in the description of the spell. Does the extra damage get assisgned to the SK? I'm not an SK, I just hear this in raids that once the SK casts deathmarch, everyone should load on the DPS as it will help the SK hold agro.
