I am on a non PvP server but I like to duel. I am a lvl 80 Templar outfited with instance and player made gear. I have been getting my butt kicked in duels with Monks, even Monks 2 lvls below me. My tactics must suck so I am asking what should be tactics I use for one on one duels? My resists are high so against casters I don't seem to have a problem, but against Monks, I don't do very well at all.

Tips and Tactics.... how should I be fighting?

Thanks

Heh. Monks and bruisers can keep you stun locked.

Knocked down, Dazed, Stuned, Etc, Etc.

I haven't managed to beat one yet.

all i can suggest is be fully buffed, and hope that you can get your stun off before they start firing off on you - Having things that help prevent stifle, stun and what not are helpful to.

-B-

Does "Sanctuary" provide immunity to the stun?

I don't duel.

It does, but their stuns have a knock back too. Sanctuary will help but they still so hard and fast they will burn through your reactives faster than you can blink. If you have hammer smite that's a quicker stun to pop off then your long stun. Another thing I do is cast my hammer pet and hope he can knock them down before they can go buck wild on me.

Hi! I play on a PvP server, (which granted, is completely different than Duels....did you know that in PvP, Templar damage actually goes UP rather than Down? lol) and although Bruisers are one of the most challenging classes to overcome, I can almost always beat them.

Being an Ogre, my Templar gets a racial trait that gives her a 10 second stun immunity. When that wears off, I use the...(Either Freedom of mind, or Freedom of Action, I always get those 2 potions mixed up, lol) which gives another 10 seconds of stun immunity, plus, she will usually use a potion to temporarily increase her HP.

I use Prostrate for a 6 sec stun, which allows me to cast my Group Reactive (which is a 5 second cast) for a nice big heal...I'm also not above using my miracle so my heals will heal me for an extra 50% for 1 minute, lol. I also make sure I cast Mark of King so my spells do more damage, and my involuntary healer so the Bruiser can help heal me, hehe.

I have the STR line maxed, and the end result prevents you from being interrupted, as long as you don't move. I also have the INT line maxed, and the end effect allows for faster casting of nukes. I also went down the smile line, which increases your nuke recast and power cost....

All in all, not being able to be interrupted, having 20 seconds of stun resists, having a 6 second stun so you have time to throw on your big (but slow casting) group heal, and fast casting nukes, she does pretty well.

The Bruiser knockbacks are a real pain, but just remember, they are NOT wearing plate, and their heals are pathetic compared to ours. Use totems, potions, bear claws, miracles, your de-aggro spells, and any knockback, interrupt etc., that you may have received in your AA's... anything to get the upper hand.

In my experience, if I can bombard them to the point that they become defensive, the fight is basically over, hehe. Good Luck!
