<p>I was asking in the combat forum how much +5 to skills added, and was told </p><p>"+skills hasn't been a viable game mechanic since early release. These no longer add any tangible benefits to the game atm." </p><p>But I remember reading differently here in this forum. Can I get some kind of confirmation/disproof/elucidation pls? </p>

<p>Skills at release where not handled the same way they are now.</p><p>I switched to the WIS tree on my baby Wizard (46ish) and I get a ton less resists on nukes and roots on white and yellow mobs. So, simply from that, I would be tempted to say yes it does make a difference.</p>

Would I ever take +disruption instead of +crit or +spell damage? I'm not sure. I think it's harder to quantify, for example, the difference +5 to disruption makes to resist rates. But then again, I was an English major. Maybe some of the math geniuses out there can help.

Assuming you're not passing up spell crit+, casting/recast speed+, or int it's worth pursuing. dis+ is what makes you more likely to land spells on mobs, or at least not get an outright resist. I can't say exactly what the bonus is, but I can tell you unless it's 20+ or more it's not worth sacrificing anything that helps your dps outright. After all, we can always recast a spell right after a resist.
