Where are you playing from, if it's not the US Sony has been putting peoples accounts under fraudulant accounts, no matter what. I got my friend to start playing yesterday and as soon as he had an account it crashed to desktop, cause he registered that he was in korea so they automatically blocked his IP. Now its fixed but you have to ask them to remove you from the Fraud thing and it wont crash to desktop

<span class="postbody">DrewX, I dont think its the game bro. I'm running fine, no sudden crashes, and groups are fine (not sure of your SK issue, my Briuiser and Dirge are fine).I will say I had a 6200 as well that gave me nothing but problems, so I upgraded to a x1950, and have been sitting pretty ever since. Don't really know what else to say since it sounds like your venting and posted no PC info.  Although if you are getting too upset ovr the game,  maybe it is time for a break. Anyhow GL in here bro.</span><hr /><span class="postbody"></span><hr />WTG on reading the post Cell. "<span class="postbody">I have had non-stop crashing, no freeze to desktop just an INSTANT crash to desktop. Over and over and over." I don't think thats the same as you where having in the other thread. You got flagged for something BS sure, but if it was more of an issue with over seas players I can betcha that it would be more then 15 people in 1 thread getting upset.Maybe if people stopped buying Plat and powerlevling you wouldn't have this issue.  Don't blame SOE, blame the [Removed for Content] who enable this BS.</span>

<p>Open and have a look at msconfig (from the RUN command), go to the services tab and un-tick as many things that you don't use or even recognise (based on that PC being your life and blood an'all).</p><p>Have a look at the Startup tab too in msconfig - un-tick any startup services you don't explicitly require (based on the many hours you are going to play of EQ2).</p><p>When I play EQ2, I have just 11 process running in Task Manager - but you have to know what you're doing really to achieve that. Well it would seem my comment was far more helpful than your dribble about him removing processes from startup. The fact is any computer with a 6200 in it is for starters incapable of properly playing this game in the first place. the 6xxx series cards still struggled even on lowest settings from my memory. That aside, why would you want someone to stay in a game where they are obviously unhappy?Secondly, did i mention anything about wow? truthfully a geforce 6200 wont even play that properly, i know because im a player myself.Third and last of all, if my face were as ugly as his pc is old, i would understand the criticism. However since this is not the case, It would seem that my comment > yours so its probably best if you just let him take the advice offered, seeing as your comment was worth exactly crap.kthnx

Probably not.  If there was an issue that severe you would see alot of posts complaining. What is happening here, is either the OP's computer is toast,( this is assuming he is not lying when he says he formatted several times to rule out software issues)So honestly, after format after format, why do you think you still have a problem? Just because other games dont crash, does not mean the problem is EQ2. It just means that EQ2 is encountering this issue, while the other programs/games are not. There are many many reasons why this can happen, one comes to mind, a busted video card.Either way its hard to tell what his problem is with almost no info to go on, i just noticed he was posting the 6200 and it set bells off in my head that his problem is most likely related to his hardware, seeing as it is over 3 years old by now.Flame on

One or more of your sticks of memory is bad. I had the same exact symptoms about 6 months ago. (I opted to replace my entire machine, but my old one was 4 years old) I swapped memory with my husband's computer and the problem moved with the memory....

Drew,I am sorry you are having such problems currently.  If you are still checking this thread, please post your DXDIAG and MSINFO, and I will do my best to see what is causing the problem.I think Bleap had a good point about the memory though that is well worth checking out.Ganjookie as well made mention of the 6200 having some issues, which I will say I have heard from customers having issues with this card. That is also possible cause. When I read DXDIAG and MSINFO logs I try and not be biased against particular cards manufacturers or models.  I do know which ones have cause more issues with customers, but it is not always the case where it is always the cards fault.I do not want this thread moved, as this is THE most appropriate spot for it,  Tech issues are very frustrating.  People want to throw blame and point fingers all around and not take responsibility.  Sometimes if it is a problem with the game coding, it is not going to be a quick fix within an hour or even a month or 2.  The amount of code in this game is huge. Now on the other hand if the issue is with a PC, we can deduct what it is and generally get that fixed quickly, or within the week.  Its a fun game, I wish it was as easy as popping some software in and off I go and kill rats till my XP bar peaks out and I get my Master Slayer of Rats title, and never have to worry about memory conflicts, driver issues and video cards.

I've had the same problem the last few days. I can play anywhere between 5 minutes and 1 hour, but mostly around 15 minutes, and then the client just unloads. No error message, nothing in the system logs. It just shuts itself downSo the OP is clearly not alone in this (if two makes a crowd).

<p>I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble, Drew.</p><p> Albright and Soluss have pointed you in the right direction it seems.  This issue is probably caused by a conflicting background application or too much heat in the system.  Zone alarm has a tendency to cause problems with games that update themselves since the game will typically change it's file name after an update.  I have included information on how to remove all background applications from starting with windows.  When I suspect a conflicting program I will usually disable everything, see if it works, then turn the programs back on, one at a time, until I find the culprit.</p><p>To disable background programs:</p><p>1. Select the START button.</p><p>2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)</p><p>3. Press OK</p><p>4. Select the STARTUP tab.</p><p>5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.</p><p>6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.</p><p>Finally, check all the fans on the system to make sure they are spinning.  If none of the above information helps, please respond and we'll continue to investigate the problem.</p>

What is a good virusscan/firewall to use for EQ II?</p></blockquote>A fan issue normally will not cause any permanent harm to the PC. It most likely would not prevent a PC from turning on. However I have seen some Power Supplies that would not turn on without the fan connected/running (normally server PSUs). If you are not comfortable opening a the case and testing things then it is best to leave it to a professional or at least someone who knows what they are doing <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> You most likely do not need an new PC but it sounds like you either have a dead motherboard or dead powersupply. Either one could manifest itself like the system crashes you were seeing. Another weird thing is that your system info only shows ~1.5GB of memory when you say you have 2.5GB. This hints that you could have a bad stick of memory as well. Personally I would first pull all but 1 stick of memory and try to boot. if that doesn't work, swap that with another stick and try again. That should rule out memory issues. Next I would remove the video card, if there is on-board video try to boot to that. If not just reseat it and try to boot (unless you have another card, then try the other card). The next thing would be to test the PSU. First unplug any CD rom drives and try to boot, if you get nothing (no sounds, no LEDs flashing, no fans moving at all), then I would try a PSU tester. If the PSU is dead, that is a fairly cheap replacement. At this point if none of that works, you are looking at a most likely dead motherboard. But .. maybe this is a good reason to buy a new PC <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

Most PCs have a tendency to shut off when they overheat (as they should, to try to prevent damage). You might have also had a power supply problem if a hard drive managed to fry (incorrect voltages perhaps). For what its worth, the Dell Inspiron 530 is pretty decent, has a PCIx16 slot and plenty of room for ram upgrades, though you might want to get a heavier duty PS, I think it was only a 300w in there (Thats assuming you wish to stick with Dell - If you want to build your own, Newegg ftw).

As a few people have mentioned, you may want to swap a few parts around before completely giving up on your computer.  You may be able to salvage most of the hardware. Some chips respond to excessive heat better than others.  Take a look at this old tom's hardware video where they remove the heatsink off the CPU<a href="http://www.wimp.com/cpu/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.wimp.com/cpu/</a>
