Try right clicking on the EQ2 icon and then selecting run as administrator. Then "allow" when the new window comes up.There is also a great post down below.http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=416554

The steps in that link worked a bit until the download crashed about 2 hrs in and then I got the Settings Tool for Everquest II has stopped working error. Now I get that message everytime I try to get the download to work for the updates. It scans the files but when it downloads it crashes. I have uninstalled Everquest II and reinstalled with no luck.Any more tricks? *S*Thanks,CJ

Greetings Talondaar,Lets run through all the Vista Compatibility steps to make sure that its not causing the problem. I realize you've probably done a few of these steps already, but we want to make sure that vista isn't blocking the download.1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Double click on the program launch icon.Sometimes the Windows Vista security software can interfere with the patching progress of our games. In this situation, it might be Windows UAC (User Account Control) that is not allowing the game to patch correctly. For the purposes of security, you will only want this feature disabled for the purposes of patching and should re-enable it after the issue has been resolved. Type msconfig in the search box on the Start Menu and press enter on your keyboard. 2. Click the tools tab in the System Configuration box. 3. Scroll down the list and highlight ‘Disable UAC’ then click Launch. 4. Restart your computer. 5. Run the patcher. You can enable UAC by following the steps above but highlight ‘Enable UAC’If this did not fix your issue, or have any further inquiries, please respond. Thanks,TSR Daniel H

Hopefully this will help someone in the future. Finally got it running. Unistalled EQII from my main hard drive and cleaned out the Sony folder under my User folder. That folder seemed to be the one that held the error and wouldn't let it download after the scan. I reinstalled the game on my d: drive separate from my Program Files folder and it seems to work fine!!Thanks,CJ
