As you may all know, the once Test PvP server, now aptly name Test Copy server, is not PvP enabled.

First and foremost, the reason for my making this thread is simple. The next update will see some fairly huge changes for my Coercer, and I want to see how this will affect my ability in PvP.

Long have the PvPers been considered the 'Red Headed Stepchild' of EQ2; shown little to no attention by the devs, and have PvP issues completely ignored during Dev chats/Fanfaire. At least let us test issues concerning the primary, and in some cases only, reason why we play this game.

Thanks.

Kirstie said it'll be back to regular copy test in a couple hours, they wanted to test drive something in pvp first, so no worries =)

I most certainly do not want it to go back to 'regular' test copy.

I don't play on PvP much...but...I would have to agree there should be a PvP only Test server. I know they had one at one time, but don't think they have a server dedicated to testing PvP content only...

Well, firing it up might actually allow for some feedback on the upcoming changes before they actually hit live. So, um, yeah. Flip da switch.

It doesn't even seem like the /testcopy add command is working. Maybe its just PvP servers (lol) but 4 days later and 1 petition and there's still no Milambers there

I really do want to test these changes for PvP, and I really doubt this would have a negative impact on the server, so please, bring back the PvP!

I know that doesn't help the PvP matter, but maybe you'll at least have access to your copied character.

Yeah, they won't turn PvP back on. Way too many bluebies testing the Coercer changes. You turn PvP on and all the PvErs happily checking out the GU will be mowed down with little care. That would ruin their testing experience.

That server is able to switch based on what we need at the time. Since this server has less emphasis on pvp and more emphasis on PvE we left it PvE enabled. PvP rules on that server causes a lot of confusion with players because of the rule changes. So to get good feedback its much easier to just leave it pve for now and let people test the stuff out. When an update has a lot of pvp focus then you can be sure its something we will turn on.In the meantime, if you want to test out pvping as a coercer you can still duel or meet up in the arena. It's not true pvp but it should still give you a rough idea of the changes.

This wouldn't have any sort of negative impact on the server.

I've often wondered why these things weren't PvP enabled from the start, I mean, why not have 2 years worth of PvP spell/mechanics put in to give more balanced fights?

Isn't there already a test server for testing pve changes? Why not I used test pvp for what it was meant for?

Unless I missed a post somewhere then the Coercer changes will be a HUGE change on pvp, why you cant see that I have no idea.Coercers need a place to test the changes and how it affects them, if not it will be a very large imbalance and wont be fair to the pvp population that get owned by enchanters due to lack of balance. I for one dont want to see another update pushed to live that was only halfassed tested and be nerfed by some kneejerk reaction like has been done in the past.

Have you ever even tried playing a caster in a duel or arena on the PVE servers? Have you any clue how ridiculous it is trying to duel as a caster against any other non-caster class, when 9/10 of your spells get outright resisted, and the one that lands (if you're still alive by that point) does 60% damage -- if that?

I honestly don't think that would realistically test in any way the changes a coercer (or any caster) would fave on the PVP server.

/shrug.

D.

There have been countless threads about resist rate versus hit rate. M1 spells get resisted a good 40% of the time, some fights are as bad as 8-9 out of 10 being resisted. Scouts basically never miss preists/mages.

But enough of PvP imbalance, PvE doesn't have rules like reduced damage/heals or control effect immunites. PvP rules for arena/duels are the way to go
