Are these spells supposed to read basicaly the same? They are both impairments on the mob that proc on spell attack. Since originally hostage procced on melee attack, I would expect hostage to continue to proc on a melee attack. Also, on despotic mind, now that it is based on triggers, might it be good to modify the aa on the coercer tree to increase the number of triggers, for consistency sake? Either way,

I was also a little confused by the wording on the changes.

It basically read that Despotic Mind would trigger off player based spell attacks, whereas Hostage and Spell Curse would trigger off the NPC being hit by spells. Erm, what's the difference?

The difference is:Despotic Mind gets casted on another player. When that person casts a spell that hits a mob, you do damage. So, you'd want to cast this on someone who casts fast, like an Illusionist.Hostage and Spell Curse is basically a "debuff" that you place on a mob, very similar to the Warlock Aura line. When the target is damaged from anyone hitting it with a spell, you do damage.Despotic Mind is like Prismatic Adornment, except that coercer is spell attacks, illusionist is melee attacks. Best part is - nobody can resist if the player lands a hit.Hostage and Spell Curse can be outright resisted.agressiv

well where i get really really confused, is why spell curse uses disruption skill, and hostage uses ordination. I.E. spell curse doesn't get resisted as much as hostage, because most mage gear has +disruption, not ordination.I do recommend that it be one or the other. Either both use disruption or both use ordination. They are both put on the mob the same way, they are currently written to work the same way, they should use the same skill. I might recommend disruption, since its annoying to get resisted 4 times in a row, with hostage m1.

another thing, though yes this is weird. I possessed essence a pot from tabernacle of pain, and sent it up against the wall. Now the weird part is that i could cast spell curse on the wall but not hostage. The old way it worked would have made sense, since the wall couldn't do melee attacks. But now that things are changed, if you can cast spell curse on something you should be able to cast hostage on it. Also, one aspect of hostage and spell curse both reading triggers on spell attacks, is that i can stack them on a mob, hit cataclysmic mind, start chain casting and watch the mob explode. Hostage should really be from melee attacks, which would make it less over powering in solo play, since no way do i want to be up close and personal beating on that mob.
