I have tried several times to get widows vista and my Logitech MX1000 to work in game. I have reinstalled Vista Ultimate many times as a fresh install, limited what was installed as far as programs. Installed the Logitech Setpoint 4.24 & 4.4 and still cannot get my programmable buttons to work in game, they work outside of EQ2 and work in WoW. I have to play the game atm in WinXP (Yes I know tons are going to say to stay with XP anyhow....not talking to you people).I have searched the forums, found one person that had this issue, but no response was given. I cannot find anything on the Logitech boards, but seeing as how the buttons work outside of EQ and with other games, it narrows this down to a Sony/EQ2 issue.

Logitech call in support recommended this.

Zernox, have you been able to run the Logitech software as an administrator yet? I have the same mouse, although I have XP SP2 still, and found that once I actually uninstalled the Logitech software I could run the mouse in game. For some reason the Setpoint software caused some issues. I also ran into problems with the Logitech MX 5000 Bluetooth Keyboard and battery life and constant disconnecting and reconnecting while in game, while it provided good fun for my guild mates seeing me run off cliffs and into lava, I was not very happy.PM me any info you have and I will look into it further, if running as admin or uninstalling the software does not work.

I've run in to this problem as well and the *only* way I found to get it working in vista was to disable UAC.I've been using my G5 mouse with setpoint in XP for over a year without issues though. Also, on my machine, EQ2 is the only program I've found that the mouse buttons don't work in with UAC enabled.I spent four or five hours combing the web and trying out various things before I turned off UAC.

Thank you all for responding, I have not actually tried with UAC disabled, was hoping to keep it on to help with security...but it is worth a shot. As for running the apllication as an Admin, I had not thought of that either...it would make sense though as I have to modify the EQ2 launch icon to run as admin that I would have to do the same for the mouseware as well does seem appropriate but also confusing at the same time when other programs work fine. Oh well, will try this all soon when I get bored enough to reinstall Vista again.TY

This turns off the majority of security and safety mechanism's that have been put in place with Vista. This is just a notre of caution, some of the current Internet Security add on packages such as Trend Micro, Symantec, etc have application hooks into the UAC and turning it off can have adverse affects on the functionality of the package.

As far as the setpoint is concerned, you can utilize the same trick for avoiding the elevation request box that is posted here for the game. In this case it would be the application for your mouse - which I believe the standard name for logitech is setpoint.exe

Click start Type: task scheduler Press enter Click create task in the right Type a name for the task Put a check next to the box that says 'run with highest privileges' Click on the Triggers tab Click New Click on the dropdown next to "Begin the task", select At log on Put a check next to 'specific user or group' Click OK Click the actions tab Click New Click browse Find the program you want to run Click Open Click OK Click OK
