If someone has a the new version of MacBookPro with Intel Processors (with specs well above what's needed to run EQ2), which Windows OS will run EQ2 best? XP or Vista, and if Vista, which version of Vista?

I've read other forums and found no consistent answer. I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who currently play EQ2 on a Mac using Boot Camp and XP or Vista (or people who've tried this recently.) Thanks.

If you don't need DirectX 10, go with XP.

Just remember SOE doesnt support the MAC or boot camp at all. Maybe when Apple is more of a game machine then a noob box it will be taken seriously.

It hangs when it tries to jump into resolution..

There's nothing wrong with the MAC as a game system....playing games in XP via bootcamp is great. It's the MAC OS that's not much of a game platform.

Sometimes on a raid need to drop it down another notch. I'd consider running Vista x64 due to the out of memory errors that Eq2 can encounter running under x86. Oh I forgot to mention, 4GB of RAM is a MUST for Vista, but dont worry. Buy your MBP with 2GB and just buy two 2GB DDR2 chips from any vendor. Apple charges a fortune for the extra RAM, but if you shop around 2GB DDR2 memory in the notebook format (SO-DIMM)) should be about 20 to 40 each. I bought two Crucial DIMMs for about 70$, and that saved me about 600 bucks from Apple Remember, they're basically a PC now, so parts like RAM and HDDs (no drivers) are the same in a Mac as a PC.
