In PvE, I use this spell each time it is refreshed. I have respecced to Hydromancer, so I get a total of 3 pets casted each time. They last 30 secs, they die when an AOE goes off, and cant attack multiple mobs. So if you send it to a mob, and it is killed, they just stand there until the end of the spells duration.. annoying..

It takes some time to cast, but if you time your spell casting order, I can cast it without loosing much dps. I often send it off when the mob have approx 30 secs left to live(In raids). I havent checked what it does to my overall parse in raids.

It helps me also when fighting hard mobs solo, as the hydromancer heals my fighterpet too. It increase my dps, it does decent damage, and it is really cool graphic, imo.I believe this spell is better compare to other level 80 spells.

Cant tell anything against PvP, as I only do PvE. (But I bet the other player get distorted when there are 4 pets in total attacking him, instead of one) Would be fun to hear what it does from some PvP'ers.

In raids the added dps is minimal becuase we already are USING 1 of the DPS pets, ussually the fire one.In soloing though, alot of times I have the tank pet out as I have the Master of this plus the master defensive buff,,,he is incredibly tough. I pop communion as soon as I am sure the tank pet has good aggro,,ussually riught after the second Preceptors Command use. The DPS is HUGE in this configuration with the two DPS pets plus the healer. They can generally take an even con 3 up to atleast 1/4 health left in the 30 second duration.

Personally I find Communion disappointing.1) Long cast time. Makes it hard to use in groups where mobs die real fast. You need to be able to start casting it on the pull so to avoid losing a lot of good DPS. Since the conjuror draws a lot of his DPS from fast casting, that downtime costs you roughly two other spells.2) The damage is... ok. I did a /petname one night so I could parse Communion (and other swarm pets) separately, and it was okay DPS at best (provided your main pet is already a DPS one, not the tank pet. In that case, yes, Communion is quite nice).3) As pointed out, they don't change target. So if you have multiple mobs or are chain-pulling, it will stand there doing nothing after the first mob goes down. However, I _think_ it's possible to force them to attack another mob. I've seen it happen before, I think it had to do with whichever pet summoned in the communion to be defaulted to "defend self / owner". I still have to actually experiment with this to figure out what caused my Communion'ed tank pet attack a second target. As a raider, I will try to pre-cast it on pull, however my pre-cast time is usually taken by other more DPS-heavy spells, and a few times our MT took longer than expected to pull for some reason (mob aggro range being an issue or a healer shouting "WAIT!" because he's slacking on warding). If you're lucky, Communion will tank it for a fraction of a second before the MT grabs aggro. If not... conjie goes "Squish" and MT glares at you for pulling mobs. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />I'd say the best utility of Communion is for soloing. It means you can have a tank pet out, and get a good DPS boost on fights through Communion. Occasionally too while soloing with a scout pet I've tossed Communion at another mob in the same encounter, and watched as it tanked it while I was taking down the first one. What I'd like to see for Communion:1) Either reduce the cast time, or make it more durable/last longer so the long cast time will be more worthwhile2) Have it switch target if it's still up after the initial target dies.

yes, just as upgrading all pets will increase their dmg. communion summons your pets at whatever level the communion spell is itself. thus if you have app1 t8 scout, but master communion, when you cast comm. you will see the t8 master scout.

i personally find this spell very useful, i start casting on the pull and very rarely do i have problems getting in EU before the real burn starts. against orange cons communion isnt as great since all hits suck vs. oranges, but on yellows i try to use it on every prepull.

Also keep in mind, when specced for healer (something a lot of people frown on), it'll AE hate reduce, AE ward (small ward), AE Hot (200-600 per tic), and I've had her intercept on our MT during leviathon on runs where I'm not required to go in. in solo play, taking down 83^^^ is a lot easier with communion w/healer. So depending on where you use it, is how good it is.

Communion pets will attack a second or 3rd mob (depending on spell duration) if they are hit by an aoe. If not? they do stand there stupidly till it wears off. Have it happen quite frequently in VoES, and a few times while solo'ng.

ClawHammr wrote:

Very jealous of this spell as a Necro , how good is it in combat?

Does it work in PVP ?

Yes it works in pvp, and is one of the early skills a conj will cast. Healers love having all our pets on them.
