View Full Version : Bloodthirsty Choker life drains completelly bugged!
Just some testing results:Max toon HP: 5540 (with magi shielding) or 5078 without it.If Magi shield (with 10 points in EoF AAs which gives 624 ward to it ) is up every spell hit drains 317 HP (so it is accounted that my toon have 6340 HP!). So the drain rate is 5.7%. If Ward of Sages is up then drain is 291 HP (equal to 5820, when HP is just 5078)" />, again actual drain (5.7%) is higher then given in the description (5%).And with no wards up drain still equal to 291 HP (still the same 5.7% instead of 5%).Is this OK with dev to have about 11% higher drain rate then given in the description.Again with 6982 HP (base):Magi shield (7444 HP): drain is 464, equal to 6.2%!!! or it is counted as I have 9280 HP.Even if count that drain is also buffed by 10% by Choker, drains are still much higher then given in the description. Please fix it!

I mean the damage is mitigatable with high magic resists.
There are no impact on choker life drain amount from resists. With the troub buff for 1.9 there are no difference at all. Just direct drain with higher percentage with higher HP. I a raid environment drain is about 7.5%. This is bug.

Choker can sometimes hit for 300ish and as high as 900 for me. Its not a straight % drain per hit, it is mitigatable, it is working fine. Move along.
I'm sorry, but you are wrong. I'm assume that 12K magic resist is high enough. While testing I have managed to equip and unequip a lot of armour with decent magic resistances as well. But haven't noticed any differences related to toon magic resistance. Just direct health drain with increased percentage. Not reduced drains even with additional troub resist buff - about 1.9K more resists - just the same amount based on maximum health.

The choker will hit from 378 (full resist) to 590 (no resist).Putting on resist gear to get me to 14k magic resist, the choker will go from 104(full) to 553. Hmmmm, guess its not mitigatable by putting on more magic gear.
May be you have some wards?I have spent about one hour beating wall in KJ with different resist gear (form fully naked char to fully raid gear equiped) - and have not noticed any impact form resists at all. Wards from EoF AAs (wizard), KoS sorc AAs and troub resist buff with ward from magic gives all the same values, regardless of actual resists. There were no resists on drains, just fixed drain amount for full wall cycle.EoF AAs ward is equal to 624, KoS AAs ward gives 320 and trouby ward gives something about 360.But the drain amount (warded or drained or combined) was absolutelly same for each particular set of gear (actually depends only on max HP).

So you have 2 options here, eitherA. you have no idea how to test or B. you're looking at the wrong value

Not sure where I got the ward from, but adding in to what it did was 354, so inline with the other "resists", so as you can see. It is mitigatible, it is working fine, please leave it alone.

The way mitigation is supposed to work is its supposed to mitigate ALL damage done of a certain type. The higher your mitigation the less damage its supposed to do.

Now, lets assume you had 14k magic resists...well that will definitely mitigate at least 60% of the damage (should be closer to 70%). Now I am assuming you have 11800, 11060 hit points in the fight. The damage done is supposed to be 5% of your health poll (which its doing). If the damage was "mitigated" by magic resists it would do at least 60% less damage or 236 and 221 damage respectively.

That is a LOT of hit points for a necromancer to have. Looking at your gear on eq2players it appears you have 9322 health. It also looks like you are in your raid gear as well for the most part since you have 10k magic resist. Your bloodthirsty choker should hit you for 466 damage (unmitigated) and about 186 damage mitigated. As a funny side note it apears to be doing about 6 to 7% damage when it hits you.

By YOUR own statements you proved that its not hitting correctly.

You're right, actually after looking at the data more carefully I realized that putting on the extra resist gear lowered my HP so explains the lower damage numbers, but the resists do help with the lower spikes. Point I guess I was trying to make is that this is THE nicest item for any damage class in the game, and so what if it does an extra 50 damage, leave the thing alone it works just fine. And I do sit at about 10600 in HP, the eq2players doesn't take into account buffs or food

When they changed the choker a while ago...it was supposed to ignore mitigation when factoring in damage. This was due to the fact that people were putting on high magic resists (say 8k back in EoF) and mitigating 70% of all damage done to themselves. That means that every spell done by the caster did only 1.5% health damage to the caster...barely a blip on most toons.

Something is definitely borked in how they are figuring in the damage done by the choker. It appears to have a random resist hit that hits you for 65% of max damage every now and then. This is what you are are refering to as a "resist" I think its just part of a random damage roll. 50% of the time yo get hit for 100% damage...50% of the time you get hit for 65% max damage....do the math, the numbers are too close to be a coincidence. (353/553 roughly equals 368/590)
