Hey folks. I have been thinking of a good alt for me and have landed on Trouby. I have always loved having on in the group with me as I tank, so I figure I may as well role my favorite group member. I currenty have an 80th Bruiser that have gone almost as far as it can go til I start raiding. My Bruiser has very little group utility so i figured I would roll a Trouby for it's great groupwide utility.

I named him Phly ("Fly" as he is a Fae. Right now he is level 7. So I will be herea ften seeking knowledge. I will use the search button for many of my questions like AA's but I do I have one question.

While my CA's/Spells are refreshing in a solo fight, can I use stealth to hide til I am ready to strike again?

Also a related question, do Troubies kite as a the best means to solo or just use a sword and board and burn em down? I was equipt as a defualt with DW.

Peace to the brethern.

I have been reading your forums and I am shocked that through the earlier stages people still wouldn't desire a Bard in the group for the buffs. I am also amazed that as a scout, we can't dps our way out of a paper bag.

I knew that Troubies were lowest of scouts in terms of dps, but to have so much issue with soloing is just weird to me? Do Dirges have the same problems?

I ask that because Bruisers are a bit a-screwed right now, and anyone starting a Brawler would be beter served rolling a Monk. IS that the same here with Bards? Are the Dirges much better off? FDrom the sounds of things in here it seems most people are quite unhappy with the way things are.

I have always loved the Troubador, but Dirges are quite cool too, I would be happy with either, but wanted a good tune fer a change

Anyways, give it to me strait folks.

no, dirges are not "better" than troubs, they offer similiar buffs and have the same issues while soloing up.

Soloing on a troub is not difficult, the biggest difference however to overcome, is with a troub, you cannot turn on auto attack, go get a cup of coffee, and come back to dead mobs, like you can with 75% of the other class choices. There is no easy button, but with a bit of patience, and experience (and aa's), you will find soloing on your troub will become easier

I see what you are saying. Solo questing should be fine. That is my main concern. I don't need to solo named mobs or anything like that or even heroics for that matter. So sounds good to me.

As far as you accenting the word "better", not sure why you did that as I never put it that way. Never would either. I think at this point, after difesting some things, I am stickin with the Trouby.

I would answer almost the same as him, but with a significant change. My answer: Soloing on a troub is difficult .. , but with a bit of patience, and experience (and aa's), you will find soloing on your troub will become easier.

You did question whether Dirges were "better off". And it's a fair question. You need to take into consideration only one important detail. Dirge CAs (combat abilities) refresh on a 20 second timer while Troub CAs refresh on a 15 second timer. Well, most of their base CAs do anyhow.I tried playing a dirge, but as a PvPer and with most fights barely lasting 20 seconds...often times I'd be dead long before I could hit a target a second time. And that was miserable. My opinion is Troub is better off then Dirge. Also, I have to say suggesting Dirges and Bards as having similar buffs is just flat out wrong. Their buffs are completely different save for one or two, namely power regeneration.Pnaxx, you're right to feel shocked by the fact few people desire a bard in their group. It's a shame people don't care to enhance their groups and themselves by bringing a bard along. No, most folks are solely interested in a tank for aggro control, a healer, then only DPS. Bards don't bring DPS to a group anymore, although they do increase the damage potential of a group as a whole. But that isn't really enough for most groups...at least not before tier7 and above. Once you hit the big instances and raids, that's when you're going to find yourself wanted.Glad to see another Troub, hope you enjoy it as much as the rest of us!

No, most folks are > solely interested in a tank for aggro control, a healer, then only DPS.

I think you're beng unfair there. Bards shine when groups size reaches six, but in smaller groups, bards don't bring as much. I find a lot of "groups" in EQ2 are less than six and many are actually duos. Currently, my wife and I are levelling a guardian/mystic pair. If a DPS asked to join us, saying "yes" would be easy. If a bard asked in, it would be a tougher call.

Think of any two- or three-man group that includes a bard. In almost all cases, replacing a bard with another class would result in a better group.

I guess people are ignorant of the usefullness of Troubs at the lower levels. I mean, there are still tough instances/Castles which would mean you need a bard to buff the group to make them better. Seeing as most lower level players are alts of higher level players, you would think that they would see the bennies. Not a big deal as I am thinkin with the end game in mind, but just interesting.

I 2was having fun last night. Snaring and running backewards shooting a mob is fun...though I gotta get the dmg up...but cool none the less.

People are ignorant of bards. And it sucks imo.I'm level 25 spec'd down the int line. I bring a 22 attack speed buff to groups. That's on par with a level 70 who didn't go down the same AA lines as me.People swing so fast when I'm with them it isn't even funny. Sadly, people don't even recognize this even when I am grouped with them, lol.Bards are a blast though and in PvP where a group build is so very important, we shine bright.

funny thing about that, is my guild who i used to raid with did not have a troub. i used to raid with my main (70 conji) and ended up rolling a troub alt to help out the raid force, and never looked back, been playin my troub since (and my sk)

Now the group i raid with on my troub just made it to VP, and what a blast. i still see some things in the class i feel need to be fixed or addressed, but overall i think we are way better now than we were before. My SK just joined a raid team who raids once a week, also fun, but i still take my troub > all

I know what you mean. For me tanks are a dime a dozen but with my troubador I feel a bit unique. I'm loving playing him.

Server populations are down I believe. Must be the nice weather affecting people. Hopefully when school gets out, more people will be playing.
