After playing a Conjurer to level 60, I am a lot more impressed with the Necro Pet graphics. But there are 2 that I think need to be redesigned:

-Shadowy Assassin : Could you get any more basic ? There is no detail at all to this pet. Even at Master level. Very disappointing.

-Rotting Thrall: Very detailed zombie but doesnt make sense as a tank pet. Needs to be more intimidating, at least at Master level. A weak, frail looking ,slow moving zombie doesnt really represent what a tank pet should be , especially since the previous pet was a powerful Orc skeleton (Undying Adherent Master 1)

At the very least , do something new with the Shadowy Assassin.

Very impressed with all the other pets especially compared to Conjurer

Link to Necro pet pics:

http://eq2.allakhazam.com/wiki/Necr...ancer_Pets_(EQ2)

Bump for a HotFix

After playing a Conj to 80, I don't want to EVER hear a necro complain about ANY of their pets. We have the most graphically demented, ugly pets. Top it off with SOE giving T8 conjs a monk for a scout pet, we can talk about issues. Look at the buffs to the scout pet hmmmm, slashing and piercing, what does a monk do? CRUSH usually. Nice work on that one.Necros have some issues, but pet design isn't one of them.

While I'm sure you want the devs to look at your post so they can review the topic, please don't bump your own posts. Especially not when it was posted only the day before.

Thanks!

I would much prefer to choose the appearance of the pet you wanted, from a right click option on the pet. let you choose from the appearance of your highest level and down.((so at AP1 you have no options, at Ad1 you can choose APP or AD appearances, and at Master level, any of them)

I would guess philosophy isn't a strong suit either...ever hear of the saying "kill two birds with one stone". T8 Conjs got hosed with look, feel, and function. Thank you for playing also, maybe you should take a little more time to read and less "playing". I think maybe (and I can't say for sure) my mage pet in t8 got slightly larger as it went from ad3 to master, but nothing else is different that is noteworthy. I would like your idea just so I could toy with the looks, but I also would rather be able to use some of the older pet settings too....I mean like my level 80 conj having a mage pet that looked like my 34 (or whatever level the old one was) mage pet. That would at least get rid of some of the sick sounds of my pet too...this new mage pet is awful.

I would love the ability to change the appearance of my pets to a previous tier version in the pet options window. For instance i personally don't like the drachnid pet, since it has absolutely nothing to do with undead. So i would probably go back to the Grim thullian look.

Also they could make it so you only have the visual appearances available of the particular level (app/adept/master) that you actually own. So for example if you aren't fond of the adept 1 undead knight, you should be able to change it's look to your old master 1 dreadnaught.

This is an interesting idea, allowing the summoner to choose which pet graphic to use for summoning the pet, but correct me if im wrong: Are you stating that a level 70 necromancer with the master 1 of Undying Dreadnaught should be able to summon the Dreadnaught, yet have it appear as, let say, the Adept 1 of Rotting Thrall? Or should a summoner with the master 1 of Undying Dreadnaught be able to summon the Dreadnaught, and have it look like the Apprentice or Adept version of that spell instead?

Allowing summoned pets to look like other summoned pets doesn't make much sense to me, as they are completely different spells, but if a summoner with a master 1 wanted to use the pet graphic for the Adept version pet of that same spell would be great. It would still be the same pet, but you choose how they want to look. It would still have the same Master 1 skills, but look like the Adept version. Of course if your highest version is only Adept, you cant summon a Master version of that pet.

As for the pet design, I think they look just fine. The Shadowy Assassin is just that... a "Shadowy" Assassin. The upgrades to the spells just give him better looking weapons... as they should do.

And the Rotting Thrall... it doesn't need to look more intimidating... its a Meat Shield that taunts. Thats all we need in a pet tank. And what better kind of Meat Shield than a Zombie? Very Necro'ish, if you ask me. Tank pets are to primarily take damage, not deal it. Thats what Assassin and Heretic pets are for!

You might feel different if you were an 80 conj that has this smoldering pile of lava crap following you around making grotesque noises when it casts or moves. And the Ad3 and Master are the same smoldering pile of lava crap.

I agree the Conj Pet graphics are inferior to Necro, hence I rolled a Necro this time around <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" />

The Shadowy Assassin is just a 2-Dimensional outline of a human filled in with black color ... I think someone took 5 minutes to design this at 4 am in the morning. And the only difference from Apprentice to Master is different weapons.

That being said, the Conjs do get the Communion spell to summon all pets at once, which is probably the coolest spell of all time.

Yes, communion is a fantastic spell...that way you can see all our sad little graphically inferior pets all at once and cry.I wouldn't mind a necro except on pvp that would mean leaving my buds behind unless I sat in exile and that is NOT happening.
