Everyone,

Today I went through some of my occasional played alts to check mail and so forth on them, and had an annoying bug. Basically, the protective "skirt" part of the player crafted vanguard armor (and maybe others but I didn't check) is rendering at my character Bothai's feet, not around his waist. This is true with both armor in his inventory and armor linked from someone else. I already did a /bug of this, but I wanted to post this also, and my /bug report also does mention I'd be putting screenshots up here.

As you can see, in the inventory menu, his bloodiron armor is rendered at his feet. In the actual game window, it's right now rendered a bit to the side on the floor. The dressing room window to the right is someone else's cobalt vanguard..if you look carefully the "skirt" part of the armor is rendered at his feet also.

Finally, from the character select screen:

As you can see, if you look past the menu bar with "Options, Credits, Intro" on it, the skirt is being rendered at his feet there too, not around his waist.

I have a dual boot system set up currently, this happens in both Vista 64 and Win XP 32, I have the game installed on both and patched on both.

I admit this is somewhat of a bump of this topic, but I did notice something new today. The "skirt" for a split second actually is rendered around his waist. It just appears to fall, as if it wasn't attached, either down to his feet or to a spot near his feet. So, something isn't telling the "skirt" to stay attached, if that makes sense.

I also had someone try on his gear via the dressing room, fellow in my guild playing a Kerran. On him the armor looked fine. My other characters don't have this problem, Bothai is my only ratonga. So I'm guessing/assuming it's just with ratonga. Bit sleepy tonight, but if I feel like it tomorrow and have enough time before our raid, I may make a temporary character that's another ratonga and see if that one has rendering problems with vanguard legging armor too. May even try both genders to see if it's just males or if females also get this.

I have never seen this happen on any of my ratonga characters, or my friend's ratongas Not sure what to tell you.

I noticed it too. It was only on a certian armor peice that the flaps fell off of though. (last I looked) They were on a dev on Test_Copy and I did a preview to look at'm, and they looked in place, then flop, onto the ground they went. Everything else should be okay. (My Ratonga Rangers' current pants flaps are there, albiet they are chain)

Small Update: I linked a pair of plate to a friend ratonga, and he said he didn't notice anything amiss with them. So I'm not sure if this might be isolated to certian graphics cards and/or visual settings, though I run pretty durned high. (its custom but based of very high)

Front flaps look wrong on armor anyway makes it difficult to ride a horse

It appears that this issue has been fixed on test. Tried out a few diffrent pairs with no falling flaps. =)

That happened to my half elf ranger's hair once, like 2 years ago, his braid fell off and was sitting in the middle of the Ironforge Exchange for weeks...I had called home from somewhere and noticed it was missing when I finished zoning...I went searching all over Qeynos for it, finally found it...Something messed up in the particle effect code on that one...

I haven't checked this thread for a bit, nice to see the replies. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

Anyway, good to hear it might be fixed on TEST. As of at least yesterday, last time I logged onto Bothai as opposed to my main his armor still looked a bit "odd". I did notice that if I viewed him from a slightly above angle, the waist parts didn't flop off..but straight on, or slightly below, they did. Sitting does it also. As soon as he moves even if I change the angle to one where the armor renders correctly, the part flops off though.

Oh well, it's again not game breaking per-se, only just annoying, and after playing him for a few minutes I don't notice it too much.

As an aside, my settings are "custom but closed to maxed out" also, for what it's worth. I noticed someone posted they do such and have no rendering problems. So IMO it could be graphics card, or specific armor, I did only try Blood Iron (which he actually has) and Cobalt Vanguard via the dressing room window. I suppose I should have him go to the broker and try both player crafted and loot dropped, see if they all look bad or if some of them look fine.

That is a strange one.

Okay, update and I admit a bump of this thread.

I tried various armors via the dressing room. I didn't screenshot it at the time, but I did go through various models, not just ones based on most of the mastercrafted vanguard. To give an example, the armors all using the Tier 8 Di'Zok MC vanguard armor (The level 77 RoK faction recipe armor) had the same issue in the dressing room. The "skirt" would appear for just a very brief second, then drop to his feet. An armor called "Orc Marauder" (similar or same to the old tier 3 Steel Vanguard, maybe still used for it?) did the same thing, skirt drops to his feet. I didn't try any chain armor, but every plate armor I tried regardless of skin/model did this.

Anyway, guess since GU45 is so close, I'll hope for a fix there since someone said it got fixed on TEST. I do notice that when looking at the actual character, I hit some angles where the skirt doesn't drop, some where it does. When he's on his rhino, it's about 50/50..sometimes he has his "skirt", sometimes it's below his rhino or off to the side.

Unless this issue comes up again, last bump.

Okay, as of GU45 this is no longer an issue for me. The "skirt" is being rendered properly again. GU45 had a "ninja" fix on this issue too it seems.
