View Full Version : breathing etc...
I logged into EQ for the first time in a long time just to see if anything changed over there. Well the things I noticed were more things I'd forgotten about than anything.Breathing... EQ the characters breath. As far as I can tell in EQ2 they don't. Random Movements... EQ the characters fidget and such. Aside from blinking and sort of swaying we are pretty rigid here.Sitting... I miss the female sitting posture in EQ, though it would cause problems here.I don't know. I think EQ1 was more about immersion than EQ2. DPS is the holy grail in EQ2, all else seems a distant second.Don't get me wrong. I prefer playing EQ2 much more, but the whole point of starting to play these games was the RP factors. That means immersion. Everyone seems to get away from that its become a much more militaristic simulation than anything as such. Sorry got sidetracked for a moment...Anyway, I realize anything related to look and feel of characters is a dead-horse subject. BUT!It sure would be nice is some of those simple things like breathing, random expressions, and personality type customizations were brought along.Yes this is my new windmill to tilt! (That and skirts that show bare legs, belly buttons, and cleavage.)

my toon breathes, go to everfrost you will see your breath...

I agree, there should really be some things added to make our characters less static. Different sitting and idle animations to choose from would be great, so long as we do get to choose them and don't just have "female sit" thrust upon our characters. Personally, for my character, I wanted something less girly than the upright sitting we have now. I say we need a /sleep emote as well, as in WoW *ducks for cover*

That's the biggest thing that held me in WoW so long - there was so much polish into every little detail, that you could spend years discovering it all, and when you go to another game, you have trouble adjusting because your mind is looking for those little details, like breathing, or footprints, or smooth animations. When I was in Lotro's beta I lobbied HARD for that kind of fluff, because I liked the game and really wanted to see a higher level of polish. (Tabula Rasa was damned good in that area too actually. If Wow did anything, it was raise the bar for polish!)I think they succedded in some ways and failed in others, but this is more about EQ2, so here are my thoughts on that;EQ2 has some very well done emotes and other animations. I really like the combat animations, I love the braid and cloth animations. It does well there. Where it fails is as mentioned here - the idle animations, the little details. Robes should ripple a little in the breeze, chests should rise and fall, eyes and heads should look around. Randomly stretching, 'adjusting' armor. I'd like an option for wriggle fingers, like a thief would loosen them up before a heist. Cracking knuckles for the fighter types, etc.One thing I miss from both wow and lotro are race-based emotes. Dark Elves should cheer and flirt and taunt etc etc differently from dark elves, from trolls, etc. Or maybe make a series of emote sets, that might be easier, since there are so many danged races. You can choose voices, might be kind of neat to choose the emote set you use, too, so you're not locked into whatever one your race has...For example:GoodEvilDarkCheerfulSlyCarefulConfidentCas ualSolemn

It shows up most of all when sitting on my warg but who knowsas for random movements, the only one I can think of is the one when you are climbing up and down walls and just go idle you will shake your hand out and then get a new grip.sitting..i'll give you that oneand the dances...my god..please fix these

Freaked me out the first time I realized the models in this game didn't do that XD

I do know that when you stand around for awhile you wiggle your fingers. That's random movement, right? I would love to have some of this implemented. The only thing that irritates me is that if they do implement things like this, whole portions of the community will complain that they're "wasting their time" on this kind of stuff instead of fixing whatever it is they want fixed. Because everyone believes that their pet peeve is the one that should be worked on first. I however, would love to see this implemented, and I wouldn't complain in the least about it getting done! I wonder if while they're at it they could make it so that certain emotes didn't cause our hands to pass through our bodies, etc.
