View Full Version : What were they thinking?

So I just dusted off my coercer, started to betray and decided to stick with the coercer for a bit...at least as an exile to see what I thought of him.

I'm a little confused though...

We have reactives that only work if the mob does damage, but we have stuns to stop them from doing damage. I find myself in a quest for greater dps not stunning mobs just so I have a chance at mobs hitting the tank or casting spells so I can do more damage.

We have an aa that is a pre-req for the reactives line. An aa that is used for a spell that...well, quite frankly never really works - as mobs rarely if ever use power now. And...with the stuns, we have the same issue as before - I would find myself not doing my job just so I could see greater dps.

Power drains that do drain power, but...for what reason? It's not like we get to use the power for anything (with one exception). Mob's don't use power, and have so much of it anyways that it's a wasted spell.

I was in permafrost and found quite a few non-named mobs that were not charmable. Huh?

Mezing group encounters - if you can find a group encounter using mez makes things so trivial, that when people break mez, I don't even bother to say anything about it. Any group that is worth their salt can take a group without any mez abilities (with some exceptions).

So, we have a myriad of counter-productive spells, spells that don't work, spells that aren't used because they have no point, and our main talent of mezing mobs isn't even needed.

If I was on a pvp server, these spells might be worthwhile. But I'm not anymore. So what's the point of playing a coercer?

What were they thinking?

For example pets that are immune to certain effects like stun such as those chickens in RoK, or pets that inherantly can one-shot other mobs such as the fly trap mobs in Tenebrous Tangle.

hm. See, I figured that the first mob inside of permafrost was a PH or something, which is why it can't be charmed.

Anyways, I see that the issues I've just discovered have already been discussed at length, and pondered throughout the ages...

Just discussed a little here and there

The Everquest family, PR department specifically, has never been a communication engine, even way back in the EQ1 days. Wouldn't it be grand, if they came out and said something concerning...our concerns? I mean, even just a note saying, "We've heard your complaints, you're way off base", or "We've heard your suggestions and are working on them", or "You have some very valid complaints and we are working on a means to correct the problems as you see it". Heck, even a "****-off, whackers!" would be something.

And someone stating that they have forwarded complaints/concerns to developers isn't a means of communication, not at least one that reflects that the concerns are valid, invalid, being looked at, or being worked on. For all we know, the suggestion box is a hole in the bottom of an outhouse, and the ideas the community...you know, the people that actually know the classes inside and out, get "filed" away with the rest of the **** never to be seen or heard from again.
