View Full Version : 32 Bit Vista and today's Large Address Aware change, working?
<p>Per Game Update #44 "The client is Large Address Aware, meaning that you are much less likely to run out of memory if you have 3GB or more of RAM and are running either the 64-bit versions of Windows <b><i><u>or have modified your boot.ini to support 3GB user address space</u></i></b>."</p><p>My machine has the Vista 32 bit OS, however, I did modify my boot.ini to make it Large Address Aware, I am at work and was wondering if someone running a 32-bit OS has noticed a change?</p><p>Thanks,</p><p>Slowdethh</p>

<p>I'd also like some sort of translation on how this affects Vista32.</p>

My best guess (without knowing what SOE actually coded) would be that the client is aware if more than 2GB userspace has been allocated and can make use of the extra memory. However, if you are running 32-bit then you have to tell your OS to allow for more than 2GB userspace since your OS sits in between EQ2 and your hardware. The INI switch is not needed on 64-bit.

How do you modify the boot.ini on Vista 32bit?

Just dont mess with PAE or other stuff unless you are sure you want it.
